December 27, 201015 yr If you are traveling to Thailand and you get to the airport and need a car to your hotel, do NOT use the service inside the airport. They are Taxi Mafia and they overcharge. Go outside and get a meter taxi or go up to the departure gate and get an even cheaper ride into the city. The AOT is the only service allowed to advertise inside the airport and they suck. Be leery of them!
December 27, 201015 yr Active Members Whether it is Bangkok or any other big city, I think it sucks that a tourist's first encounter is to avoid being ripped off. You'd think the cities involved would want to get the visitor off to a better impression.

The police, government, etc.. The mafia control the country. IMHO

January 2, 201115 yr Active Members So does this information from tripadvisor avoid the AOT car service? Public taxis are the most popular way to get into town. Ignore all touts in the airport terminal offering taxi services. Outside the arrival building on the first floor (one floor down from arrivals) you’ll see a “Public Taxi” desk. (Note that this location is correct as at November 22, 2009). Taxis vary from some older vehicles to very new ones, and some van-type taxis ideal for 3-4 people with lots of bags. All taxis run on natural gas and most of the boot (trunk) is taken up with the NG tank. Tell the supervisor your destination. He will give you a slip of white paper. Hold onto it, do not give it to the driver, as it has instructions on what to do in the unlikely event of any problem. When you get into the taxi, make sure the meter is on and showing 35 baht. On arrival at your hotel, you’ll have to pay the fare on the meter, plus an airport surcharge of 50 baht that is not shown on the meter. In addition there are expressway tolls of 70 baht for most city centre destinations. Typical cost: THB250 to THB400 depending on distance, average seems to be around 300-350 baht. Average Time: About 30 to 45 minutes depending on distance and traffic/road conditions. (My hotel says the fare should be 500 baht.)
January 3, 201115 yr Author Public taxis are cheap and easy to find and use. You should have no problem. Around 500 baht is correct. Depending on your travel times, Bell Taxi Service is great. Picks you up from the airport and drops you at the hotel for like 200 baht. http://www.belltravelservice.com/reservation.php
January 3, 201115 yr Active Members The airport provides this info on taking a taxi: Bangkok Airport Public Taxi Service Public taxi stand is located on Level 1 (Ground Level). > Contact Taxi counter, Level 1 - Ground Level, near entrances 3, 4, 7 and 8. > Pick up area: taxi stand Level 1 - Ground Level > Taxi fare: metered taxi fare plus 50 Baht airport surcharge, and expressway fees. > Public taxis serving Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport must be less than 5 years old. > Public taxi drives must be certified by Airports of Thailand.

January 8, 201115 yr Active Members Yes- Day 1. We boarded the flight, everyone was on, then they announced a mechanical problem, and then after an hour or so canceled the flight. The line to rebook was horrible, and they could not get me out until Monday, which means I lost my Priceline Bangkok reservation even though I bought insurance from both the airline and Priceline. They don't cover flight cancellations! I am pissed...and feeling very unlucky.
January 8, 201115 yr Active Members LOL, had something similar happen to me at LAX about three years ago. Wound up costing me about $1,500 when all was said and done. I hope you get off a little cheaper than that.
