September 7, 201115 yr You know, I sometimes wonder if the GOP is trying to lose in 2012 because they think the economy will suck and they don't want to get blamed for it. Case in point - the two leading candidates at the moment are Rick Perry and Michele Bachman. Now, it's been an open secret in Texas for at least a decade that Perry is gay. Does he really think this won't come out during the election? And, it's pretty obvious that Bachmann's husband is gay and that's already coming out (and notice not one news organization that has printed he's gay has been sued.) So, what are they thinking?

So, what are they thinking? One can make a reasonable, fact based argument that the Lehmann debacle was engineered by the Bush administration so that the shit would hit the fan in time to elect a Democrat to blame it all on. Given the likelihood of another meltdown at a time when the world's governments have pretty much shot their wad propping up their economies from round one of economic amageddon, one can also make a case that both parties are doing their damnest to lose the next election. Euro/finantial collapse, America gnawing its own guts out, India sliding into ungovernable anarchy, China potentially coming unglued, Mid-East in turmoil and Japan reaching a new low in fecklessness. You'd have to be crazy to want to be in charge the next four years.
September 7, 201115 yr Active Members Crazy is what pols do, isn't it? Things in general do seem to be getting worse. Isn't there a term like the quickening for this? Not quite ready to claim it is time for the rapture. I see several who are willing to make public disclosures about their popularity for public office but I see virtually no one who is exhibiting leadership for same. Pity. September 8, 201115 yr Rick did well at the debate but there were a couple of moments, he failed to make eye contacts and seemed really nervous. I wonder why. Unless there is a sex scandal I think Rick has a very good chance of winning the nomination.
September 8, 201115 yr If that happens then I believe your archenemey Bachmann might have a big chance. lol. I am not sure how people will perceive Romney's religion. Maybe it will be ok maybe not. I don't know what will happen if Sarah Palin joins in. Would you vote for Palin-Bachmann? There will be many, many Rick Perry sex scandals.

September 8, 201115 yr Mitt Romney is too right and his religion will be an obstacle he needs to overcome. Perry is obviously nervous about something and it's odd to me that he doesn't get that other people are also sensing it. Maybe he knows but he is pushing forward anyway.
