May 11, 201214 yr The Mitt Romney and the "Hijinks" story is continuing to gain traction. If he had a date rape allegation, would he still be a nominee? Five men came forward that remember the incident of bullying a kid that looked different. Romney didn't dispute it today but says he doesn't remember it, which is typical of an uncaring bully.

May 11, 201214 yr There is NO excuse for bullying even when you are in high school. It says volumes about your character. I would never have considered doing such a thing and in fact I spent time stopping other bullies from doing it. And his response today (other than an apology) is another indication of his character.
May 11, 201214 yr Would you say the same thing if Romney were gay and democrat nominee for the presidency? Why Romney's high school bullying episode matters: http://mojo.ly/K2YRjL
May 11, 201214 yr Active Members Gay boys don't play the bully? I recall an incident at Ole Miss where a friend of mine went into a wild rant about gays and I had to restrain a straight friend from leaping into it to defend my honor. Problem was I knew perfectly well friend #1 was struggling with some just barely repressed homo urges and the situation required a delicate touch. Fortunately my first friend and I were later able to resolve matters with several mutually satisfactory adventures in bed. (turned out he made a cute and voracious bottom)

May 19, 201214 yr I'm not a Mitt fan but when we are young many of us do stupid things. I cannot hold something like this against Romney anymore than I would hold it against Obama. Kids fuck around its part of growing up .. and back then it was far different than what bullying has become today. And being Gay is far different today for many as well.

Except now he is using legislative power to bully. So it does show a beginning pattern to his character. I would never have behaved that way at that age and that has a lot to do with my character.

The article has it right. Many of us do stupid things when we are young. The question is do we grow out of it? Most of us do, some of us don't. Which is it with Mitt? Well, he had a great opportunity to prove it by admitting to the episode with a sincere apology to all involved. He chose not to do that. What was there to fear in showing he has grown up? An apology for bullying would have offended no one but possibly some in his base. Is he playing to their desire to have a bully of gays in the White House? Are they going to demand that he stick by his prior immature bullying tactics? Where are they going to go if he apologized? This episode reflects poorly on him to much of the undecided middle, especially women. His actions do not comport with those of an adult who has outgrown his immature ways. Will this swing the election? No. But it is one more burden that the question of his character must carry. These failings add up over time. I believe it is a net negative, as it should be. He could have completely neutralized it by owing up to it and apologizing. It would have been a one-day story. Instead it lasted a week and still hangs as a cloud over his character. This guy is the most inept Presidential Candidate that I have ever seen. He is a walking cluster-fu*k.
May 23, 201214 yr Active Members The more I think about Willard the more I think he's the one that deserves the name Slick Willy! He's a walking, glad-handing greaseball who's only core belief seems to be "money is good". Oh, and "I deserve to be President".
May 24, 201214 yr His handlers have probably advised him that to apologize would be interpreted as weakness and a capitulation to political correctness, which would not gain him any real support.
