Members Lucky Posted August 6, 2012 Members Posted August 6, 2012 When I told my sister that a used copy of a book she really wanted was available through Amazon, she asked me "Who sells a book for a nickel?" Apparently, lots of people. Amazon has helped the used book seller flourish, and selling books for as low as a nickel indeed. Take this one example: I bought a book through the Amazon marketplace for a nickel. It is supposed to be in "very good" condition. Now, I have yet to receive it, but in the past only one order failed, and for that I got a quick refund. The catch is that there is an additional charge of $3.00 for postage and handling. Even if only one dollar of that goes to handling, this used book dealer is raking in the dough. Take a look: My chart gets ruined every time I click post. But in the last year, they have had feedback from almost 200,000 customers, and in their history another million more. They have very positive feedback, but look at the number of customers reporting back. Surely not every customer reports back, so this indicates that they do a substantial business. In the last year, almost 200,000 feedbacks. Now for a dollar apiece, that's big bucks! And there are a multitude of sellers on Amazon. I don't know where they get the books or how much they pay for them, but it must be quite profitable if so many sellers exist. I would take 1, 211, 386 dollars for selling used books! Quote

TotallyOz Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I once sold poppers. They cost 1.50. I would sell for 10.00. Sometimes we would have a sale for 50% off. That is still a good profile. But, we would always have a 2.5 handling fee plus the cost of shipping. I loved handling fees. I once went with an escort in NYC and he told me he wanted to spend the night with me for free. No charges. But, if I touched him it was 100 USD and if I fucked him it was 300 each time. We fucked 3 times. I owed him 1k. That was after our one hour session at 300 earlier. LOL I think I was the one who got fucked right? Quote
