Has anyone been to Guadalajara, Mexico? Any stories and suggestions would be much appreciated. Planning a trip there this year.

I'm wondering if I should travel there as well.  The information available online looks promising but, I'm not 100% sold yet.

Guadalajara is an underrated travel destination which, particularly combined with PV, makes for a solid holiday.

It is the one of many Mexican cities visited where I made an exception and happened to not bother in terms of private play in clubs or hooking up with escorts. And I did not even have an STD! But just a few days of sights is marvellous.

There is a surprisingly large number of clubs with gogos /strippers ... that would be my entry point as I do not use apps or sites for making dates. (Yet)

Guadalajara with its climate, quality cache, along with proximity to Puerto Vallarta and Lake Chapala, etc, is a locale I wish to again check out for my own impending expat plans.

But Guadalajara, compared to eastern Canada, does not shave off any travel time to Brazil. And Brazil will simply not be snubbed in my long term.

So now I have just booked a few weeks in Sept, CDMX, and will almost certainly side trip to Guadalajara. Will see how far one can gogo with those peelers.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the guys in Mexico are more of twinks with slim or thinbody type, whereas Brazilian boys are more masculine, athletic and muscular. I prefer Brazilians.

I have found in my "very limited time" so far in Mexico, 3 visits in the past 6 months of a week each that the majority of the guys are twinks and/or toned athletic bodies but also a fair number of muscular guys and some very handsome guys! At least the ones that are "working"!

IMHO, the relative proportions of body and overall appearance types are similar between the two countries. Easy cash is the equalizer.

In addition, aspiring physique models everywhere have training, nutrition and competition fees to cover. The ice has been broken for them if on the gogo scene ... they ease into the playbook without having to make a huge initial climb on the learning curve. And are often overextended covering the costs of the requisite muscle car and bull terrier.

Guys, thanks for the info!  I've made several trips to CDMX in the last year and was looking for a short fun vacation for Memorial day.  I was originally looking at Puerto Rico pero, decided against it for now.  I agree with tomcal's assessment of Mexican potential, the great guys are there you just need to look a bit harder or have a good procurement network in place.  Mexico has not let me down so far, so I will take a leap of faith and try a new city.  I love to experience new (to me)  museums, architecture and restaurants while meeting great guys for fun.  I'm trying to branch out so I don't become too complacent with the experiences available in just 1 city  

Guadalajara is a great city for culture, food, markets, etc and has a lot of good looking guys there. I am sure that the rent scene exists but I never really saw that when I have been there. There are several gay clubs for music and dancing. The few stripper bars I went to seemed to be more geared toward women clients and the dancers tended to be beefy--actually slightly overweight guys. Maybe there are other clubs that have more attractive dancers and I just missed them.

I would definitely visit if I were you though--lots to see and as least as much potential in terms of guys as Mexico City(which I love).

Police in Guadalajara have been the most corrupt I've run into (and believe me, I have a way of having run ins with police, lol)

No plans to go back the gay bars didn't interest me...the city is cool and has lots of culture, taller guys than most other parts of Mexico.....

If you go def do the Jose Cuervo express train tour, was amazing and prob the only reason I'd head back to GDL...but find someone to go with on that tour, is what made it fun too....

 

Monterrey is a cool city with lots of options too for gay life , but just for a long weekend type of trip.

@floridarob : I actually have a week's vacation scheduled next month in GDL.  The guys on the app seem more than willing and https://mx.mileroticos.com/escorts-gay/jalisco/guadalajara/ looks very promising.  I have been repeatedly warned about the Mexican police and treat them like I treat law enforcement in the states:

1) avoid at all cost

2) minimize engagement when rule one is impossible.

So far so good.  I plan on having a fantastic time and will definitely submit a report.
