September 30, 20178 yr Active Members Planning my next trip to the wonderful Latin America. Haven't been to either Panama City or Bogota, but have always heard nice things about them in terms of scenery, guys, and things to do. The airfare to either city varies by about $100. Hotel cost looks pretty much the same. Not sure about food cost, transportation, and other stuff. What are your thoughts and suggestions? Any things to watch out for? Surprisingly, I don't find many posts about Panama City, and as for Bogota, it goes up and down.
September 30, 20178 yr I'd pick Colombia....Panama has a lot of hot guys, but the gay scene is very underground ....or fly Copa and do a free stopover in Panama for a couple of nights on the connection.

October 1, 20178 yr Active Members Bogota. Worth the trip just for the Gold Museum----hundreds of pieces of Pre-Columbian solid gold artwork. A gay area of town, many gay bars, and several saunas with "masseurs". A very modern European-like big city. But the guys are 100 times better looking in Medellin and it costs half as much, max.

Thanks. Don't have enough time to go to Copa this year. That's why I am choosing somewhere close and easy to get to. How about in terms of safety and things to do?

October 1, 20178 yr Active Members Probably because the gay scene is more developed although certainly not like Brazil and more members have actually been there. I did not find Bogota unsafe but I am a seasoned traveler , leave my jewelry at home, same for camera . Don't flash big bills. About the same way I'd behave in Miami, LA or NYC, Rio etc. I think Medellin is a beautiful city and if you are into using the apps, plenty of opportunity as there is in Bogota.

October 3, 20178 yr To me, the problem with Bogota is the weather. It is around 60℉ all year round, too cold for me. And most of the guys there don't go to gym, so you will see mostly just naturally in-shape bodies, not gym-toned fitness bodies.

Also realize Bogota is largely Incas like Peru or Bolivia, while Medellin is Spanish/Mixed. Everyone in Bogota talks about how good looking people in Medellin are. No one says that about people from Bogota, ever.

My Airbnb landlord in Bogotá told me I could easily find beautiful women in Medellin...BUT...I failed. LOL.

That depends on what do you mean by gay scene. Colombia has an amazing gay scene - I would argue one of the best in the world. What it doesn't really have is escort saunas like in Brazil, with few exceptions. I've not been to San Paulo which I heard has a huge gay scene, but Rio turned out a bit of a flop - one gay bar/club in entire multi-million city. And some regular gay nights. A lot of saunas, but extremely poor choice of actual gay nightlife. Salvador I did not even tried - I was simply not confident enough to leave tourist areas - Salvador is a very different type of city. Shame cos Salvador beats Rio when it comes to the beauty of guys, especial if you are into darker dudes. No one says that about people from Bogota, ever. Colombia is a multi-ethnic country and really differs from region to region. All over Colombia you will find hot guys. And Bogota is no exception, but tasso is right that as a capital, Bogota has more wealth and guys there are pickier. Bogota does have more indigenous blood thrown into the mix whilst Cartagena is very afro. Barranquilla and Medellin guys are more similar. And quite a few people said that the most attractive Colombian guys they found in Cali.
