I am only flying from Ubon to Bangkok, so seat selection will be a non issue. Any old seat for the 50 min flight. Then I am going to try the bus to Pattaya..haven't done that before.

You best bet on the bus options are Bell Travel Service for 200 baht to your hotel or the Public Yellow Bus for 106 baht that will let you off at Sukhumvit and either Pattaya Nua, Klang, or Tai. You would then need to get a baht bus or motorcycle taxi to your hotel.

 

I am happy mostly not to have any problems. Because of my status i can carry mostly up to 40 kg independent from travel class. When i use other airlines i only fly from business up and can carry 30kg - thats enough for me. Mostly only have up to 27 kg for 3 weeks holidays.

That's great and I have staus as well on 3 airlines but unfortunately this post was about Air Asia and they not only don't give status they don't even have a frequent flyer club to join.......

A note for those that fly BKK Air.....if you join the free frequent flyer club with them you get an additional 10 kilos immediately!!! No status needed.......

 

 

Also, at BKK, if you have to pay extra, you have to go back to an Air Asia booth, pay your money, and then try to get back with receipt to same desk to get baggage claim and boarding pass.

This appears to have changed. On 3 Feb flew up to Chiang Mai and, although you have to go to the booth to pay your money, you no longer have to go back to check-in. The guys at the booth issue the baggage claim and boarding pass.

 

The baggage charges for 20Kg and 25Kg were introduced between my booking and flying.

 

Express boarding is now combined with 'Pick a Seat' and 'Standard seats' or 'Hot seats'.

SIince low cost airlines are by definition 'low cost', I cannot imagine any have frequent flyer schemes. These cost the airlines quite a bit of time and money to organise as well as losing revenue on flights.
