I'm not claiming to be an expert in Spanish. This asshole who has been harassing me and claiming that I'm not in Medellin is also claiming I don't speak Spanish. I am a Spanish as a Second Language learner. I'd say my level is intermediate. I can manage in most situations, but not amongst a group of Spanish speakers. Maybe chimba means pussy, but I see lots of guys using it on Grindr, unless they are somehow offering pussy (also I looked it up and found it meant dick) so maybe it has multiple meanings, as words do. I never would have known that word if I hadn't seen it on Grindr so much.

Thanks for the offer to meet up. I'm doing fine. I've made friends and am keeping myself busy. Not sure about meeting people from this forum since I've had such a bad experience so far.

The locals in Medellín and surrounding areas use the expression "Chimba" or "Que Chimba" as an expression of a good time or a party. You will also hear it used as a verb -- chimbar -- as in "Vamos a chimbar el sabado parce". There are a lot of rich regional expressions to be found in Antioquia department that are specific or unique to the region.

Thanks. I also found that meaning when I looked it up. Maybe they are using chimbo, but I know I didn't imagine it. One guy even said something like "chimba de chimbo". I'm meeting a Colombian language exchange partner today, I'll ask him. I also have some other words I want to know the meaning of. Grindr is full of new vocabulary for me!

Ok, I guess word endings do make a difference, it was "chimbo" not "chimba" This is from Urban Dictionary.

In Colombia ,it can mean pennis though its more used to denote something either really cheap and / or low quality , or something fake :
 

" Mas chimbo que una moneda de cuero / more chimbo than a leather coin .."
" Nohh que reloj tan chimbo/ what a chimbo clock"
"Que carro tan chimbo / buhh! what a chimbo car "

 

Lesson here? Watch those word endings, you could be calling a penis (or pennis) a pussy, or meaning to call something great and instead calling it cheap. I love Spanish!
