Free Johnnie Walker Blue

Featured Replies

Seems that many of the Narita duty free shops give away free samples of the booze.

What's amazing is that you can sample Johnnie Walker Blue. I've always wanted to try it but could never justify buying a bottle.

So next time you're at Narita check out the duty free shops.

Well don't keep us in suspense. How as the Johnnie Walker Blue? Is it really that much better than Johnnie Walker Red?

I am no expert and could not tell the difference in Johnnie Walker red, black, or blue. A friend that does drink Johnnie Walker quite a bit said he did not find much difference between the JW black and the JW blue.

I'll bet his wallet does

I didn't do a direct comparrison between Black and Blue so really don't know if I could tell the difference in a blind taste test.

Years back Johnnie Walker did some promotions in the USA where you could invite a bunch of friends, munch on some food, listen to their presentation and drink all the Red or Black you wanted.

At the end of the night they let us try one glass of Gold and appoligized but said we couldn't sample the Blue. Green hadn't been invented yet.

They said Red was meant for mixing and Black was meant for drinking on the rocks.

But back to GB's question, sure the Blue was nice, and I always wanted to try it, but Black is just fine with me.

My favorite expenive booze is Grand Marnier but I'm happy enough with the cheap stuff bringing a bottle of SangSom home with me.

You know that is right. JW blue can be a ball buster. My friend sticks to the black.

I have never tried the Blue, Green or Gold stuff - only Red and Black. But I think they are single malts - whereas the Red and Black are blends. In that case, there are many less expensive single malts from individual distilleries on the market that I am sure are as good, if not better,

I think they're all blends but Green and Gold have less components than Red or Black.

JW is quite secretive about Blue.
