Well having spent two years in Vietnam this is easy and not so easy. Having been influenced by the Chinese who ruled Vietnam centuries the Dragon is the lucky symbol. However coins, silk fortune cookies, and fruit can also stand for good luck--both on home alters and during Tet.

As to the symbol? Hell if I know. Tons of dragons all over the place in Vietnam so that's my tepid guess.
