I couldn't bring my 110v model from the States so I had to go search. There was one guy who had a shop in the old Central World but he lost his lease when they began the big renovation. I tracked him down to a house in Din Daeng where he still sells an assortment of electrical and electronic goods.

 

Last month the little coiled hose split. I called them, they said "send it up". So I mailed it to them, they fixed it in one day for 200 baht, including overnight EMS mail to me in Jomtien. Lovely.

Today I saw a food dehydrator at Central Dept. Store in Silom Complex in Bangkok. $2,900 Baht.

In my case, I haven't tried it yet, but I am planning to at some point within the next several days.

I find that I can get most things I need here in Thailand. Two food items that I am yet to find are Pecans (in bulk or larger bags...not little one serving bags) and sweet pickle relish. I have found the red Hamburger relish at several markets, but no sweet pickle relish.

I am afraid you will not find large bags of pecans here in Thailand. I searched and searched. Finally, a good friend brought me some from US.

 

Villa Market has some pickle relish that I buy, but it not what I am used to from US.

I knew there were pecans in bigger bags here, but wanted to double check. Today I saw them at Paragon Fresh Mart (ground floor) on isle 4. I am quite sure they have at almost all Fresh Marts (Emporium and all The Mall malls).

The brand is Heritage and are sold, de-shelled but whole, in bags of 454 grams for Bht440. they also sell walnuts and almonds in the same sizes and price approximately.

Also in the sausage department, they had large, fresh Italian sausages in 4 varieties...hot, very hot, chili and country.

Nearly $13 USD for a pound of pecans is outrageous.

 

In Villa Market they have a cheap plastic guide for slicing bread. It wouldn't work for a very big loaf, but it was only 69 baht.

I was in Villa Market today. I can't find that bread slicing guide. I searched the kitchen gadget area, but if it's there I couldn't spot it. Can you tell me where it is?

They were with all the kitchen stuff. It is a cube of white plastic about 6 inches. I find that if I ask Tata, the customer relations woman, she always finds what I want if they have it.

Today I tried your sausage recipe. Absolutely perfect!!!! It came out exactly the way I hoped it would and also tastes just like I hoped. Thank you very much for that recipe.

 

Another thing I like about it is that is is very easy to make and the spices are not expensive at all. I was able to find all of them, but finding the sage was a problem. I looked in three different grocery stores and couldn't find any. I finally found the sage in the grocery store at the new Central shopping mall.

Glad you like the sausage. Did you find the bread slicing guide? I was at Villa today and, although they have moved the kitchen stuff, I did see it there in the area where they have the plastic storage boxes on the 5th row down.
