For about 2 years I believe, new IDs are written in Thai and English..similar to the driving licenses. I saw one yesterday and it shows the date of birth as "20 July 1991" for example. So if you can hold your dick in your pants for another 16 years, you should have no problem, unless of course, too much wanking has effected your eye sight.

Are you using the same calendar I use? The last time I checked, someone born 20 July 1991 will celebrate his 19th birthday this year. What's the problem?

I think Jtrack was saying that he saw a new Thai ID that has the birthdate in English and Thai. He was not commenting on the legality of the lad ( who was indeed 18 yrs old) just that he saw a new ID that included the birthdate in English. And since the issuance of these ID's had taken place for 2 years, in 16 years all of the lads who still have an ID that is only in Thai will surely be at least 18 yrs old and legally safe. That was my take.

Hell if I know, it's been a lot of years since I've been there. I was just using that as an example so people understood that the law doesn't distinguish (in making a judgment that "prostitution" occurred with an underaged person) between directly handing cash and paying for something else. If the court determines that "sex for value" has been exchanged, it's, as they say in Thailand, "same same." That analogy, of course, could be used to argue that most marriages are simply legalized prostitution...hehe.

 

But the bottom line remains the same for those with at least half a brain - you can essentially eliminate all risk (other than the risk that somebody will actually enforce the basic "prostitution law" itself as involving adults only) if you make sure your "date" (god, that was nice) is 18 or older.
