I have always told people my real age, but now I actually look forward to being ten years older.

As I mentioned earlier, I usually knock of a few years - and have never had a problem. The other week I met a boy from gayromeo who suddenly said, "I forgot how old you are." Not wishing to speak the lie I had already put in print, I asked him to guess. "70?" I'll never ask again!

I'm really curious now because while I know that rising affluence and more westernized ideas have pervaded Asian culture, my own recent experience has been that a man of maturer years (regardless of race, though preferably in good shape, I suppose) is quite attractive to many younger Asian guys.

 

I admit I have come across a number of younger Asian guys (from better-off families) who told me point-blank that I wasn't their cup of tea because of my age, but in general, I've found that most won't just brush me off without at least engaging in some conversation and mutual speculation concerning "fun" with a man of more years. I'd say that once such a thing happens, my success rate is easily about 70%. And I have been told a number of times that I'd be much more attractive if I were at least 10 years older.

 

Admittedly,the majority of such pleasantly titivating experiences have been associated with Malayian and Singaporean men, but I always assumed that it would be the same with younger Thai guys. Would I be wrong?

Trust me on this one, those upper limits don't mean squat. See for yourself. Send messages to a couple of those boys. Even try the ones whose upper limit says 30. Tell them you're 80. If they're money boys, and often even if they're not, you'll still get an "I want to meet you" response.

I'm not really interested in meeting money boys on a dating site. And I really have found 'resistance' to chatting/meeting with a printed age greater than 60. Maybe this is more the case in Bangkok than Pattaya, though. Or perhaps I should get a younger looking photo!

Some Thais also knock off years from their age. In my bio line I specifically state that I am looking for older Thai guys - above 30 yrs old - I used to say "above 35" but I had slim pickins' with that parameter so I lowered the preferred age to "above 30". Many times I will get a message from a Thai guy whose profile says he is in his 20's. When I reply that I am only interested in guys above 30, they will tell me that they are well into their 30's. When I ask why they say they are younger they tell me that no farang will chat with them if they state their true age. I know a Thai guy whose profile said he was 41 for the longest time. Then one day his profile said he was 31. I wrote to him and asked how he became 10 years younger overnight and he replied that he looked so young that no one believed that he was 41 and he was tired of trying to convince people of his true age so he just gave up and changed his age to an age that corresponded more to his looks.

Very good point. I had dinner last week with a Thai friend whom I have known since 1998. He looked about 20 then and only about 27/28 now. I had completely forgotten that he is in fact 39. His Thai bf is 34, yet everyone agrees he looks the older one.

Age of Thai's is pretty hard to gauge. I met a boy several years ago at the House of Male in Chaingmai and he said he was 19, had an ID card, and was legal.

 

I never let on to the boy, but when I looked at his ID card he was defintely legal...He was 29 years old, and could easliy pass for a young 19.

You aren't wrong to ask and anybody that tells you otherwise is a senior citizen or 13 and a half years old.

I think if you're a guy... You should be able to take that question without getting all sensitive and upset. I mean really...

 

Having said that, I have no issue asking guys how old they are out of curiosity if they look like they're in their 20s or 30s.

 

But for anyone 40 or over I am hesitant to ask. I wonder if that changes as you get older (asking older guys how old they are)...
