Harry Enten on CNN had a series of polls on this.  "Crime" is the GOP's best issue right now.  Which is why Trump is doing his kind of fascist thing and picking on Black Mayors. 

It's either fascism, or his deep affection for Blacks.  Who knows?  We do know Trump is the least racist President ever.  Obama was the racist, of course.  🤪

When I say crime is the GOP's best issue I mean voters and especially Independents think Republicans have better policies on crime.  I think it is a residue of all the "defund the police" stuff, and how at least some Democrats were perceived to be more concerned about criminals than the victims of crime.  That is the trope of course.  But it is very clear that Democrats suffered in swing districts and states because they were successfully labeled as soft on crime.

And in the past few days, he has gotten quite comfortable saying it IN PUBLIC......
