Yes, A LOT.

So here is a weird thought exercise.  I'm throwing in silver, bond markets, and Bob Shiller.  And Trump.  What a mix!  Don't try this without adult supervision.  And you'll have to go with verbose me on this one.

One of my nephews and I are stock trading buddies.  And we are both doing extremely well.  He thinks the stock bull market is ending soon.  But he has been saying that for like three years.  I'm  on the fence.  Either way, for years we have both agreed that after a five year bond bear market at some point the US Treasury bond will be the safe haven of last resort when stocks come tumbling down.  As they always do and will. 

And yet ....... silver is golden right now.  And so is gold.  The 1970's seems to be calling.  A lot of smart people think that, as before, metals are the safe haven investors will run to.  Right now, at least, they are running hard and fast.  The financial news is filled with scary warnings about massive government debt, possible monetary shock, inflation, etc. 

My nephew and I joke that all of this is above our pay grade.  And it is way, way, way, above Donald Trump's pay grade.  Although even he recognizes it is never cool to mess with the bond market.  And yet he does.  He can't help himself.  As smart and obedient as The Queer Who Shall Not Be Named is, even he can't keep Trump on message.

My nephew insists that, at the end of the day, nobody anywhere is the world can beat the US Treasury bond as the safe haven of last result.  Famously rich pragmatists like Warren Buffet say never bet against the United States.  Even if you do bet against a complete fucking piece of shit like Donald Trump.  

I tend to agree with my nephew.  Who adds the line, "So where's the inflation, stupid?"  The Great And Powerful President Trump would agree.  Working class America is not happy, though.  Did I mention big ass trucks cost more thanks to these fucking tariffs?

So when I think of what could cause a flight FROM the US Treasury bond rather than a flight TO it, the ugly sick face of The Great And Powerful President Trump pops into my mind.  What an awful stupid worthless piece of shit he is. 

There are people in my family I love who would argue that it is simply not the job of the United States to save Europe from Russia.  Who the fuck thinks it is the job of the United States to invade Europe, and disband NATO?  What a brain dead disrespectful piece of shit.  Trump  just fucking destroys everything he touches.

If a fiscal and monetary crisis are brewing, like in the 1970s, it is not quite fair to blame it all on Trump.  He was just the Dumb King Wannabe in the gold tacky chair when the music stopped.  But he is putting the elements in place that allow me to imagine that the whole fucking world will applaud if and when the US and our beloved Treasury bond falls.  Even famously nice Canadians think we are all fucked up right now.

Poor stupid Donald Trump could not win a Nobel.  But Bob Shiller did.  He is a genius.  He called the 2000 stock bubble right before it crashed.  He called the 2008 subprime housing bubble right before it exploded. 

Shiller is saying this could be 1999, or 1959.  Meaning maybe we are about to end a long stock bull market, and things are gonna get rocky.  Or maybe the optimists are right.  And like in 1959 we are in a period of sustained economic and productivity growth that even Trump can't fuck up.  Tax cuts, anyone?  Shiller actually said that about a year ago.  And now stocks are even more overvalued.  He tends to think this is more like 1999, it seems.  

There are articles daily now about how Europeans are worried not about how to punch back at Murderous Vlad.  They want to punch back at Trump, if they can.  No one in the world is rooting for him right now.  Other than maybe actual dictators.  So it could get really ugly.

Americans are not rejoicing in this.  They will NOT endorse this stupidity and narcissism in the Fall midterms.  Unless Trump can figure out a way to stop us.
