Just a short comment in regards to the number of condoms that are being distributed to the various venues in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. Of course, TAKE CARE!! welcomes collaboration with all organizations involved in condom distribution as an HIV/AIDS prevention method. We certainly do not see it as competition. From an epidemiological stand point, the use of condoms as a method of safer sex must reach a saturation point of eighty% before a reversal of the epidemic will be realized.

Take care were in Sunee last night, making three condom people delivering in three days. Surely that's well beyond saturation? If the bars don't have stocks now to last for ages ...

 

And where did the figure of eighty percent come from? I never knew the epidemic was reversible ... I would have thought any unprotected sex could lead to a spread of HIV, not just eighty percent use of condoms. But hey! What do I know?

Consistent use of condoms, according to studies, reduces the transmission of HIV by about eighty percent and thus reduces the overall epidemic risk.  You could google the topic and find lots of articles about it.

 

As to the number of condoms available, I guess I'd only be concerned if not enough were available.  Too much prevention doesn't strike me as a bad thing even if it only encourages one bar boy to engage in safer sex.
