December 8, 201312 yr Driving from Hua Hin to Bangkok today, there were literally 300 or more vans of people being bused in for Monday's demonstrations. Several were gathered together at one rest stop and the BF and our driver chatted with them. They all came from down south and are avid yellow shirt supporters. It was interesting to see the vans at midnight covering the road. I hope this does not turn into the mess it looks like.
December 9, 201312 yr Looking at the various Thai TV channels now (about 12:45 Monday lunchtime), there are indeed thousands upon thousands of protestors marching (actually marching is a bad choice of word as it implies military formation). All very good natured and a sea of Thai national and royal yellow flags. My area of Sukhumvit Road is very quiet and my little soi, which is usually full of busy food stalls, is virtually deserted. Hopefully all will remain pleasant with no interference from red shirts, black shirts or professional/amateur hooligans and that these people having made their point can disperse afterwards and concentrate on the upcoming election which, I guess, will be sometime in January. Whatever happens I doubt if any of the gay entertainment areas will be affected.
