Offical announcement by the Foreign Office here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/introduction-of-same-sex-marriage-at-british-consulates-overseas Thailand is not on the list but Cambodia and Vietnam are. Maybe one can take his Thai soon-to-be-husband to either country and marry there? Many countries from that list will not recognize such marriages, but the UK Gov. will. So this may solve a lot of problems getting your husband a visa to come to UK I guess.
September 9, 201412 yr I might be wrong but I've a feeling I read somewhere that even if you're married (overseas) or not that may not have any bearing on your visa application and in fact they may look less favourably on your application if they thought you had intentionally married to try and buck the system, perhaps others can expand on this further if I'm correct ?
September 9, 201412 yr This rule has been implemented in Russia about 2 months already. The strict condition for marriage in consulate in Moscow is: both have to be UK nationals at time of marriage. SO: first UK nationality and only then marriage is possible. May be there is some differences in conditions in other countries, but here is as I wrote above.
