Longer term accommodation

Featured Replies

What options of accommodation would be good for a longer stay in BKK area? Let's say for 3 months. Has anyone experience of renting an apartment from locals? Could some hotel/hostel agree on fixed price so that cleaning would be done just weekly or so? Or is there someone nice gay (westerner or local) who would share his apartment? For a pay of course. :)

Also interested possibilities in Vietnam as well. Free feel to write even private messages or emailing (gaperking@helsinkilainen.com). Currently living in Finland.

I use a apartment that I found on Airbnb.com. I rent a month at a time. There are a lot of great places all over Bangkok advertised here.

Same for Vietnam.  Airbnb has some great apartments in Hanoi although Boutique Hotels are so cheap that you have to consider them also if you prefer the full service of Hotels.

I also used Airbnb to book a condo in BKK for a four month stay.  I chose to stay in one place - Aree - for the whole time, but splitting up the time in different neighborhoods might have been fun too.  When you inquire about your booking, you could specify that the condo should include a weekly maid (meebaan) service.

Yes. Three times so far. These places are usually not found on the internet. I was looking for rooms in Sathorn area last year, all details here:

In your case, it would be imperative that the room comes with a refrigerator and WiFi (you would not want to buy a refrigerator and arrange a contract for internet - minimum duration 1 year - for a 3 month stay).

Serviced apartments are also an option. Maid and cleaning service like a hotel (some even with breakfast), but a more liveable room. Very affordble, comparable or even cheaper than some hotels. They typically offer lower rates for rentals longer than just a few days (like monthly rates etc).
