Barcelona:  Had incredible luck at Boyberry. Even found someone to have a date with !! Therefore, I did not do Thermas, etc. Pretty cold, so I did not do the leather bars or discos, especially as regular guys at Boyberry were fine for sex. Grindr was also busy.

Granada, Malaga, Cordoba, and Sevilla: Grindr had traffic, but the local guys seemed desperate. They would send me messages and pics and then be pissed as we never hooked up. Mind you, I never contacted them and often never replied to a single message due to lack of interest. Sevilla was better. From years ago, I thought Sevilla had a boy bar, but could not find one this trip.

Madrid: Seemed like Chueca had tons of gay places. Guys at Boyberry fulfilled my needs so never needed the other bars or Grindr guys. Definitely some pay for play boys on grindr in Barcelona and Madrid; maybe Sevilla. Not sure of prices. Hunqz had nice looking guys listed as well as morbototal. 

For all of these places, tourists looking to get off and various local horny guys will vary with the seasons. As for boys, seemed like many more in the bigger cities, as expected.

In Spain, both in Barcelona and Madrid, there were a few guys at Boyberry and standing around the outside of a few gay bars / clubs that were super hot and could have been by the hour. That stated, I simply assumed that the Abercrombie surfer dude or moderate sized but cute and muscular latin types were just regular folks. I did try playing a bit with one such guy but he was not interested, so I let things pass.

Also, someone has recently noted that the boy sauna in Madrid is no more and perhaps Sauna ? Paraiso has taken its place. I cannot comment.

The Boyberry in Barcelona sells some sex toys and is a bit of a gay video store too. They have some lockers for 1 Euro, returned when you leave for your coat etc. Then they have some video cabins with some small sliding doors over 20 cm or so glory holes. There is a downstairs too. I think it is open Tuesday and Sunday. Many booths simply to have sex in. Downstairs also has some dark rooms. 

The Boyberry in Madrid seems more like a bar up front. You have to get a drink or soda, etc to enter. 1 Euro or so for coatcheck, no lockers. Then more limited booths and a downstairs with booths as well. My guess is that both Boyberry places need many folks to pay 6-8 euros or so to enter or have a drink for them to stay in business. The places were about as clean as possible for piggy sex type places. 

Neither is a stripper place. I was never aware of any pay for play guys. But like I said, there were a few very good looking guys. Both places had a mix of guys looking for sex with other regular guys. Not too many bears or very old guys. My guess would be a mix from mid-late 20s to early 60s, a few gym rats, but mostly average build guys. I am not in my 20s or 30s, and I do not look like a fashion model, but still had plenty of fun, as an average sort of guy who plays nicely with other guys. Although the sauna boys would likely have been very hot, I am usually ok paying less than 10 euros to get off with others rather 50-80+ euros with a sauna boy. If i am looking for something special, the pay for play sauna will be there, well, at least in Barcelona.

187ter. Clients are potentially indictable. As escorts sell sex with impunity there may be more scam/sting attempts by male trade to extort money from clients. 

All that said, these types of laws tend to be window dressing particularly with respect to MSM commercial sex trade.

By the way, is this new law in operation yet?

 

I dont recall reading that it had passed all stages in the parliament.

Instead of creating a new thread, I will give some updates here, mostly about April and May visits to Madrid and Barcelona.

Madrid: the sauna that has boys for rent still exists but extremely slow. I think it was off the grand via and close to boyberry. I visited it on Sunday, there were two boys and two customers. One was young and on slim side with ok look, not my type. The other one was tall Spanish with belly. I didn't like him at all because he was old and out of shape. But he was kind and told me to go to a different sauna where I can get free sex. I thanked him and left. From some boys at Thermas visiting from Madrid I heard multiple times this Madrid sauna was bad and the manager is not good etc. Cannot comment on the manager but I won't visit this sauna again.

I went onto the local sites and I realized that the boy selections are not as overwhelming as Barcelona but made some inquiries and was surprised by the price range: most were 150e where in Barcelona I see most at 100e. It was not uncommon to get 200. Anyway one nice thing about Madrid is that you can do a day trip to Barcelona with the new fast trains. It lands in Sants, which is a short walk to Thermas. I didn't do it but I checked the schedule and price and I was surprised the prices were reasonable like 20euros round-trip...

Barcelona: boyberry was mentioned multiple times here so I wanted to check it out. Either way it is only 6e entrance fee and I went there in the afternoon on a weekday. I was surprised it was quite small and didn't have shower facility and people just roam around with clothes. I see they have nude days but I do not know how it works. The visitors are mostly older guys, some rare young guys but they seem to be into each other. I had around 10 guys at that time, maybe 2 are young. One guy who was around his 30s was getting sucked through a hole and I was just curious to see it from another cubicle through a hole but he stopped it and wiped his tool and came to me. I am not a big fan of sucking but he was a decent looking guy for free sex so I gave him some oral. Overall I might check out another day as it is cheap but I will only go there on a busy day, which seems like Tuesday and weekends.

Thermas: I usually go there on Wednesday (clients day) and Saturday. Saturday was slight busier than Wed but still the days before covid are done. Many regulars, mostly from Brazil but I do see some slim short Latinos, tanned skin, not sure where they are from. Venezuela? Mexico? I actually do not like the regulars as I know most of them are not my type or cannot deliver. A lot of them got old and you won't see it in the dark sauna but the faces are old when you see them close enough. I was hoping Junior would be there on Saturday during my last visit but he was not. My another favorite is the cuban guy, Daniel, and I had a really good session with him. My last session with him was ok, so I wasn't very excited about it but he exceeded my expectations and delivered something similar to our first experience, which is why I liked him at first place. His performance is really unpredictable but for 50e I don't mind trying and I tip when he exceeds. Just to give an incentive to deliver haha

Some new faces, or maybe visitors from other cities. Rene, Venezuelan, really my type but his is big so I wanted to try him after someone smaller, but on Saturday I was really struggling to find one, which never happened before. Finally I gave up and just wanted to try him but he left...ah, believe or not, my first time leaving Thermas without hiring. I was angry so I went onto local sites. My favorite is slumi because I can just click the WhatsApp button and send a message. Also many boys put their rate there so it saves unnecessary hassles. But I won't hire him again simply based on the looks. 

Back to thermas boys: I also ran into the Russian guy who was discussed here: Igor. Nice face and attitude, quite honest. I asked him if he kisses, he said no and I said it won't work, so he said ok good luck in a very nice way. He always smiled when we pass by and said good night when I was leaving so I kinda liked his attitude. He seems like a pleasant person and too bad that he doesn't kiss. At least he is honest and I really like honest guys. I know some would lie about kissing and make the session awkward. One guy that annoyed me was the black old guy from Madrid. He wears a cross on his neck, quite fit for his age. But he has a disgusting attitude, like looking down on me, at least they way he talks to me. I don't mind being dominated in sex but until I hire them I want the process to be respectful and pleasant. Some stupid escorts do not know the difference between the two. He is one of them. Either way, he is way too old for my taste and I didn't wanna interact with him but he kept coming to me to chat in an unpleasant manner.

I also visited thermas in February and had a few good sessions. It was with Junior, David and another Brazilian but he was visiting. I had a dinner with him afterwards. I am realizing that I tend to like the visitors. My last visit made me worry a bit. It is quite obvious that the pre-pandemic glorious days are gone, at least for now. This sort of business stays in business only if they can attract enough talents but I see a visible decline in the look of the boys. I hope it keeps up and brings more attractive boys. I really don't know what factors are in play for this decline but at the moment most attractive guys are visitors from other cities. In the past, I used to see some Spanish guys in the sauna but I don't remember my last encounter with a Spaniard there. Maybe ten years ago?

Another worry is the new law about escort ads. One thing I really like about Barcelona is the ability to hire from these local websites. I can find my type quite easily from websites and I rarely had disappointing experiences in Barcelona. If these sites are banned, it will depreciate the value of Barcelona for this purpose.

The proposed commercial sex work abolitionist legislation has been in limbo for months, with many other unrelated laws requiring attention ahead in the queue. Local elections are underway. The next general election is no more than 6 months off and I think that the prostitution law will not progress prior to that timeline, if at all, going forward. Still a lot of squabbling among factions about penalizing, regulating as an alternative to punitive measures, educating sex consumers, a specific focus on trafficking including immigration for such, etc, etc.

Premises used to facilitate sex trade, even ‘non-exploitatively’, remains in the draft legislation as illegal. As I opined earlier, a place such as Thermas would simply need to be less explicit about its agenda. In fact, I think that Grupo Pases has always been vague about it. The agenda seems more word-of-mouth or a few bitter queens discovering it and asking for an entrance refund. Additionally, perhaps the party events give it more of a front as a club venue, not exclusively a baths/brothel.
Ad sites as potential candidates for censorship seems more ambiguous. Legal age and vulnerability of women seem to be the big ticket items that the abolitionists target.

Now the general election has been set for the 23rd July, so it looks like bringing this legislation through will fall to the next administration.

At the moment it seems that a PP and Vox coalition is most likely next  government. How would they feel about the legislation, does anyone know?

Barcelona is not near on my event horizon but I will definitely try to follow the events. I think that all factions were pretty much not objecting to the abolitionist model. When you think about it, a small proportion of the community cares a whit, and Spain wouldn’t be a standout by criminalizing. It will take some drilling down to stratify the ideology across party platforms.
