  1. 1. yes the dates are 13-14-15, but the last day should be less active anyway. If I remember correctly, last year was unusual in that they restricted the water fighting in general and banned it completely on the last day because of a shortage of water in the country. It had not rained sufficiently in the preceding two rainy seasons and the reservoirs were at perilously low levels. That's no longer an issue this year. 2. More subdued because of the mourning is anyone's guess. My guess is the usual street action will take place, only public concerts and such will not take place. 3. Why would the circuit party be subdued? It is behind closed doors and the NYE party wasn't subdued at all. Same-same na. Also, the pool party at the W Hotel is advertised as normal, so nothing subdued about that either: http://www.whotelbangkok.com/splashaway2017 4. not sure yet. I kinda don't want to escape it this year, but haven't made any plans whatsoever, so dunno what's going to happen lol
  2. certainly, judging by the poster pictured in xiluzer's post. It reads: STAFF WANTED: - dancers - waiters - bartenders - DJs If interested contact Jupiter or see below info.
  3. sounds very much like Raya then lol
  4. you are right about better getting a hotel rather than an airbnb on the first trip. In the past, Tarntawan was a hotel of choice for many (incl me), but that's no longer as you are probably aware (you seem to have done your homework by reading a lot around here). Raya and Nantra have gotten good reviews here, especially from vinapu who has stayed in both countless times so he should be able to tell. Having said that, asking for hotel recommendations is always a somewhat futile excecise, because a LOT depends on your personal preferences regarding things like - location - room size - amenities (in room and out-of-room such as pool/gym/sauna etc) - cleanliness - budget - level of comfort or "luxury" (you ok with :basic" or prefer 5-star ambiance?) - joiner policy (quite important to many obviously) For a bit more upscale than the aforementioined, member numazu has reported very positilvely about the Crowne Plaza, which is also a stone's throw away from Soi Twilight. As for meeting up with members, well I live here, so we shall see...
  5. 100 tip (for 1 hour) is a fair tip in the run-of-the-mill massage shops. It might seem low to the western visitor (especially Americans with a VERY different tip culture and different tip rationale), but in the context of wages here it is quite high. Having said that, I do vary my tip depending on the level/quality of service provided, as vinapu has suggested. At the low end, for a so-so or average massage I'll tip a "normal" tip, usually being something like that above-mentioned 100 per hour, so 150 for 1,5h. The high end is for a regular guy at The Prime whom I book in advance sometimes if I'm in need, he gets 500 for 1,5hrs because is massage is so good for me. No extras at all.
  6. thanks for that clarification, had no idea that it is a circuit party thing! And you're right, the people doing it surely enjoy it a lot, I could tell, too.
  7. *blushes* Good times, and BurBoy CLEARLY needed to take his shirt off, no need to be shy of fear any competition. I have to admit, I found it hard not to stare at him too much lol yes that's true, but also there were many fat Chinese guys, too. It was mostly (but not only) those fat guys who hat that peculiar style of dancing, which involved a group of guys of anywhere between 4 to maybe 7 or 8 to hug each other from behind, forming a tight line of guys and having that sway heavily right and left with the rhythm of the music. That made it virtually impossible to have a good time and dance normally in their vicinity, so needed to find spaces with a distance to those interlocked swaying guys, which was a bit difficult at times. Anyway, there were tons of really hot guys, too, many many being Chinese. My very wild-and-rough guess for the Chinese ratio was anywhere from 50 to 70% of the entire crowd. The rest was other Asians, and probably no more than 5% farangs. That gave a glimpse of what it feels like to be a racial minority. What made matters worse, ind of, was that the vast majority of guys seemed to be "sticky rice". Bummer lol. Though later into the night I bumped into a cute and rather drunk Hong Kong guy who wasn't and we ended u making out for quite some time
  8. exactly, sounded like he highlight already happened just now...!
  9. agree 100%. Amazing report with great pictures, better than any travel guide book. Highlight are the stunning balloon ride pics. "I’ve never had anyone I love give me something that caused cancer before. " I wouldn't look at it that way, as I'm sure he had no idea that this carcinogenic. Apart from that, even so it wouldn't matter. people offer others cigarettes all the time, a well known carcinogen. Some people make hte choice to consume these, and consuming it in limited quantities limits the risk as well. And consuming just ONE dose (just to try it once, like in this instance with the betel) certainly poses ZEO cancer risk. And regarding the pictures with the red teeth: in times bygone in this region such teeth were actually a beauty ideal, and visiting Europeans with their white teeth were seen as very odd. I can totally imagine the awe and exhilaration induced by the balloon ride. You pics give a glimpse to the awesomeness. To round it off with the relaxed and romantic sunset boat tour (as opposed to the overcrowded viewing from the temple) is no less than perfect. You certainly do a lot of thing right when going on these trip, and having good luck with the choices is part of it. However the quote above begs a question: you get back to the hotel, hungry, at 8:30, but make it to the buffet only at 9:45. What did you do in the intervening 1 hour and 15 minutes??? The shower sure didn't take that long. What are you hiding from us???? hahahha ;) so much for rankings, in my view they are mostly worthless. Rankings force an order where often there is none. If you have 5 places with a rating average of, say, 7.81 - 7,82 -7,83 -7,84 - 7,85 the differences are minuscule and accidental, so the places should be considered identical. Yet there is an order and one place "wins" and another is the "worst". And apart from that, the personal criteria of the people giving ratings on places like tripadvisor can vastly differ, so there is no way to tell whether or not those are relevant to you or me, personally. Much more helpful is reading actual reviews, as in prose, to get a feel for what the reviewer cares about or not and give more meaning to his/her judgement. By the same token, your reports are an amazing source of valuable and usable information (apart from the enthralling storytelling, see above)
  10. if you use google's Chrome browser you can have all and any webpages auto-translated to Englsh. The transaltions notoriously suck for Thai, but you get get the gist of it anyway
  11. that's a cool reference, I did see that intriguing movie, and wonder how many more levels you will achieve on this trip (or maybe in future trips ) - so I stay tuned as usual (needless to say, really)
  12. Soi Convent, not Covenant lol. BNH is very nice and luxurious - and expensive. Been there a few times for other things, the charges were really high. 1500 Baht for applying a small bandage to a finger (plus multiple other charges amounting to a total bill of over 5000 for a visit that took 5 minutes max. I don't mind as it is still within a range I'd pay in my (former) home country, just struck me as high by Thai standards. Anyway, back to topic: I usually go to Dr. Smile, either of their two branches (Silom Road, near Patpong, and on Saladaeng no more than 100m in from Silom, i.e. well before Senso). But then again, I never had any serious issues, just went for cleaning several times already, and once they filled a minor hole they found in the process. All seemed good to me.
  13. confirmed, the fare from that stand about 30m into Convent from the big 7/11 on the corner of Silom/Convent is 20 baht to Suan Phlu
  14. 100+ is absurd obviously. Instead, have them take you to the corner of Silom and Convent Roads, for which you should get a more reasonable quote (I would hope). Then walk from there through Silom Soi 6 to Tarntawan, not very far.
  15. DM is right about the large placard showing prices for standard destinations from that particular mocy stand. However, if you hail one away from a stand it's more down to negotiation, unless you know what the fare ought to be (the excercise of this thread). Mocy's waiting in front of Babylon invariably try to overcharge, I guess for three reasons: (1) many people there are foreigners not knowing what the fare should be, (2) charging for the convenience of being there (no taxis available in the soi, and next mocy stand is a bit of a walk), and (3) pay a commission to Babylon for the privilege to loiter there. The fare from Babylon to Silom/Convent Road should be no more than 40-50 Baht. Now where exactly from Sathorn to where exactly in Silom are you going? Both are LONG roads na The fare from the corner of Silom/Convent Road to Suan Phlu (i.e. your reverse trip) is only 20 or 30, I can double check that next time I pass. Also prices can depend on the number of turns to be taken on the route. So a 1km ride in a straight line can be cheaper than 750m with a few turns from soi to soi.
  16. For me, exactly that, though, importantly, I'd replace "ramblings" with "compelling narrative" Boring you ask? The exact opposite, like others have already said. Informative, engaging, enthralling. As for commenting?asking questions, nothing much to add for the reasons just given. Questions no really necessary, everything seems comprehensive. Maybe it's not because people are lazy to comment/ask, maybe it's because your reports have become better an better and much more complete with the practice of multiple long reports!
  17. ah yes that smile that would melt a heart of steel in an instant.... I see how it seems unreal, especially after being back in that other, seemingly more real, world. However, I suspect these things are much more real to the local half of the equation than they seem to you. Even though you are from two different worlds, meeting in that strange bubble-like intermediate world, that intermediate world is so much closer to the real world of the local boy, that it may actually be indistinguishable. So everything that happened in that bubble-time remains as real with the boy. I have a feeling, though, that this time this stays with your as more real than any of the preceding LOS exploits, too Yes those moments, when a million things chase each other through your mind, wanting to be said, but nothing actually can or will be said (especially an unnecessary goodbye). Everything has been said and holding those hands is all that is needed and wanted. Looking forward to the report about great sightseeing and emotional adventures. This first installment is enthralling numazu writing at it's very finest.
  18. yeah I kinda thought about that, but then still thought it would distort the result with someone, say voting "once daily" for at home and "once per trip" for travelling, no? Because the implicit assumption seems to be that "home" is an expensive country whereas travel takes us to places where things like massages are much more affordable.
  19. I don't normally comment on other's posts much, but sorry that's a super absurd comparison. You also eat your food from plates that are placed on tables, so you may want to change that habit, too, if tables remind you of a morgue... on topic: I refrained from voting as the poll doesn't seem to be suitable or designed for local residents. To give some answer at least: massage frequency varies wildly depending on moods and needs, such as muscle aches
  20. since you ask "Any fellow SE asians here?" you're apparently not Chinese, Singaporean-Chinese at most. But either way, like everyone else here said, it is no issue whatsoever. I know several guys from Singapore (not sure about their ethnicity as I don't care, might be sg-chn or sg-mly or mixed, or....) who come to BKK frequently and have massages often, never heard the slightest hint from them. Money talks, end of the story. Only from browsing this forum might you get the impression that the commercial sex scene is dominated by and revolves around the farang. Couldn't be further from the truth these days. The whole world is represented.
  21. also, take note of the profile number. He may just have changed the nickname so you can't find him any longer, but profile numbers cannot be changed.
  22. so it seems the rimming show at X-boys is a bit of a random thing, which is unfortunate Tuesday (numazu+me): no rimming, no j/o with cum, nothing Wednesday (DivineMadman): rimming, j/o with facial cum Friday (samebb + me): rimming, j/o on chair, but no facial Saturday (a447a): no rimming, no facial, only j/o on chair Sunday (a447a): same as Saturday Hmm..... on top of that, I did notice several other differences in the show between Tuesday and Friday, some different numbers, some same/similar numbers but differently (better) done, and overall more sexy on Friday
  23. apologies for answering a question asked of someone else, but if you mean his December/January Myanmar&Bangkok trip, no he is not done and still in BKK as we speak and has MUCH better things to do (with someone exceedingly beautiful I can confirm as an eyewitness) than check this space, hence my jumping in
  24. yes finally got the rimming show adn liked it So I guess paulsf may have been right that on the other night numazu and I went it was the rimmer bos's day off, can't remember if I saw him Tuesday or not. The rimmee was present both nights, though. The other board member was numazu, along with his incredibly beautiful Burboy of board fame The other bar next doo with the twinky boy peeking out was Fresh Boys Most welcome, glad I could help you get rid of your unfounded fears of the soi thanks. I briefly talked to 888 bumping into him at the toilet, where he was just exiting. Told him to go see samebb to collect a tip, which I had samebb talked into giving 888 since he liked him so much... 888 seemed quite friendly up close. Samebb told me afterwards he got a hug for the tip. Just before leaving the bar, I also handed a 200 tip to the rimmer on his way out of the bar already in street clothes, which earned me a kiss on the lips
