I guess it's whatever you want it to be, as long as you are willing to pay. So sure, you can give a guy a blowjob. But these guys are all straight so I doubt they would service you in the same way . But you can always ask. I can't believe it's been so long since I was in Pattaya. I feel another trip coming on!

I agree. I stayed there quite a few times - the last time was just before it closed. It was a bit too basic for my tastes but the location was perfect. My final stay at Ei8ht Rooms was marred by the theft of my mobile phone from my room safe. I told the staff that I was going to report the theft to the Tourist Police, which I did (that's another story!) and my phone mysteriously turned up in my safe the night before I checked out. It was then that I decided I would not be staying there again. Little did I know that they would soon be closing down. I might head back to SR at the end of the year so would appreciate any information regarding nice hotels in town where I can take back "guests."

It would be impossible to be so blatantly hypocritical and not be aware of it. He has to be joking. I think he's some old guy with too much time on his hands. Mildly amusing.

I get a little annoyed, too, if the guys all gather around the one farang and ignore the other customers. A bar where the guys are unavailable is a waste of time for me. But good luck to the farang who opens the bottle. I don't begrudge him a good time. It's just that they're aren't "many options on how (farang) can enjoy their time out " if the guys are all unavailable and/ or rolling drunk. There's another problem with opening a bottle. The guys tend to get very, very drunk and some then get on their motorcycles and ride home. I'm sure if I gave it some thought there would be lots of ways to save money. I just choose not to give it any thought. I'm on holiday!

"less a fire trap" Yes, I've recently realised how dangerous the Ambiance Hotel is in that regard. One elevator, one set of stairs, only one way out. If the exit is blocked, you're toast.

"my dad is a piece of shit alcoholic" I wish I had a dollar for every time a boy has told me that story. Their dads tend to beat up their mums, too. That might go some way to explaining why some of these boys are so nice to us - even guys we don't pay to have sex with. Perhaps they appreciate a friendly father figure. I once had a guy tell me I'd be a great father, so who knows? Maybe there is some truth in that.

Only if it doesn't have a zip. A suitcase with a zip that goes all the way around can be quickly opened with a ballpoint pen or some other sharp object. Totally useless.

It's funny how these 'researchers " come up with these statistics. I've seen more Thai cocks than any of them and I've never seen such small ones on Thailand. And surely the Isaan guys would raise the national average by quite a few inches!

"I felt as if I had to take a sip everytime he looked at me." Perhaps you need to grow some balls and just tell the waiter you don't want another drink. Like others have pointed out, I've also never come across any pushy waiters at All of Me. Must be a new guy still learning the ropes.

A trip to Tonle Sap lake to see Kampong Phluck is definitely worthwhile and a totally different experience from all those temples. As a bonus you get to see hot, hot shirtless Cambodian guys frolicking in the river or even taking showers on their boats. But don't do what I did. Normally I'd take a comfortable car but for some reason I decided to go by tuk-tuk. (Probably because the driver was drop-dead gorgeous). I wasn't prepared for the appalling road conditions - it was one huge pothole after the other, all the way there and back. And it is quite a long way from central SR. I still don't know how I survived, but my back was aching for days afterwards. I never realised that the tuk-tuks don't have any suspension. There are a few massage places along the street leading to the night market in the centre of town. You'll get lots of come-ons from the guys wanting to give you a private message upstairs.

Well, I don't know about that. I certainly have never had sex with any of them, although I'd jump at the chance. But unfortunately, I believe they are all straight; at least that's what they tell me.

Hey sexy man! When do you talk abut money? (A Poll)

"But if it is standard, what is then this extra performance you guys are alluding to and which warrents an extra tip?" I don't want a guy to just lay there like a dead fish, then jump up when the deed is done and head for the door as fast as possible. If I decide to bottom, I want a guy who can get it up, keep it up and last more than just a few minutes. The guy I off during the day from a bar in Bangkok can fuck me for well over half an hour - and with incredible enthusiasm. I'm the one who always gives up first. And I expect the guy to be nice to me. I don't want a friend -we both have our own friends. But I do want him to be friendly. -
I agree. A&P is one of the best 'gay" hotels I've ever stayed at. It's got everything you could wish for, including its own sauna/darkroom next to the pool. Oh, and if you're lucky, as I once was, you'll get a free sex show on the sunbeds by the pool! I've done numerous reports on A&P and the delights of Phnom Pehn on another forum.

I tend to pay attention to what gaybutton says, as unlike me, he's been there and done that. He's also had a lot of experience of life in Thailand so I guess he knows what he talking about. BTW gerefan, I would never compare anyone to Neal! And certainly not GB. I've met both and believe me, they are chalk and cheese.

These days I only negotiate with the guys in Bangkok. What they don't know is that the fee we settle on is the minimum I'm willing to pay. They get more if they put in a good performance. I don't really worry about discussing the fee in Pattaya. I find the guys much less mercenary and I don't recall ever being pressed for extra money after the event. Unfortunately, it's happened a few times in Bangkok so it's best to make things clear from the start. -
"IMHO best to get a thorough onhand review from as recent as last year on that other forum from the well-travelled OZzie a747 (or so, an ex-airsteward)." What?? An ex-air steward?? God almighty, what next? Lol Gay bars in SR are pathetic compared to anything in Thailand, but the massage places, especially the one over the river, are fantastic. Guys to suit every taste, if I remember correctly. The only thing missing is the big Isaan - size cock. I was planning on going back to SR this year but I'm now heading off to Europe for a month instead. I'm travelling with a straight female friend so sex opportunities with the local guys will be severly limited. However, if I can persuade her to do a bit of sightseeing by herself every now and then, I'll hop straight onto the apps and see if I can fit in a quickie. Wish me luck!!

It's built into their drink prices - e.g. 220 baht means the customer will probably hand over 300 and get 80 back in change. "A scam surely should involve some kind of subterfuge." Pretending they have run out of notes is subterfuge.
-
Couldn't you must turn off "location" on your phone??
-
I guess the scam part of giving change in coins is that the bar is somehow suggesting that they have run out of 20/50 baht notes and so have to give you eight 10 baht coins instead. Soi Twilight bars have often tried that on me over the years. That never happens at 7/11. Of course, it is up to me what I do with the coins. Needless to say, I give the waiter a dirty look, scoop the coins up and put them straight in my pocket. I don't need anyone to suggest I leave a tip, especially in such a blatant way. And waiters who do nothing for me don't get a tip. I'm not a charity.
-
Here's a scam - well, at least I think it is a scam (I'm no longer sure exactly what constitutes a scam!) - when you pay your bill in a gogo bar and they give you your change in coins in the hope that you'll leave them behind. I'm sure many of us have experienced that one.
-
The guys I've met over the years are basically not interested in politics. At their age they are concerned with other things. Even if they were interested, would they have the English skills to carry on a conversation??
-
I've stayed at the Ambiance many times over the years and have no complaints at all. Well, up until my last stay. It never occurred to me before that the place is a fire risk, as there is only one way in and out. I don't recall seeing any emergency exits. I was kicking myself after I decided to ignore negative reviews about a hotel in Vietnam, which I went ahead and booked through Booking.com. Needless to say, the reviews were 100% accurate as they pulled the same trick on me and many other guests as well while I was there. I wrote a negative review on TA after I returned home and also tried to post it on Booking.com. But they refused. I think I'd be more inclined to believe reviews posted here than on any of the hotel websites or TA.

Bucky, if it's any consolation, I get where you are coming from re: the mobile phone scam. The seller didnt give you what you paid for, substituting it with an inferior model, That's a scam in my book,
-
Just remembered -I was pickpocketed once on a baht bus. But as gerefan says, that isn't really a scam. But I still think Thailand is much better than Vietnam or Scambodia.
-
I had a watch stolen once, but that's about it. I think Thailand is basically free from scams, at least in my experience. But DivineMadman, I totally 100% disagree with you regarding Vietnam. I've never been scammed more frequently in any other country I've visited over the years. I don't think I'll ever go back.
