I recognise that the bars in Boyztown had been hurting for many years....at least ten, I'd guess and that the sort of gay tourists (like me) that built the gay scene of the 80s and 90s are long gone.
However, I continue to feel a deep resentment at what happened between (roughly)  2015 an 2019. Boyztown may have been struggling but it was still alive.  The few go go bars had loyal customer bases, as did the Ambiance Hotel, its terrace that those  of three bars in the Panorama corner.  Then a decision was made to chase the female clientele in BBB followed by the coup de grace, the purchase of LCF. Forgive the personal bitterness in what follows.
After twenty years of patronising Ambiance three or four times I year, I spent my last night there two years unable to sleep at gone 0300  due to unbearably loud music from LCR accompanied by the screaming of women.  I looked out over the balcony. There were  but a few customers but each of them  was apparently endowed with astonishingly loud voices and an infinite capacity for banshee-like screaming.  With a  plane to catch, tired and low, I sat down with P (who'd never had the sentimental attraction to Boyztown that I had) and  we decided on the spot that it was the end of Boyztown for us. And we became regulars at the Jomtien Complex.
I know for certain that I'm not the only person driven out by the transformation of a gay soi into  a very different one. And I'd add that that the change that affected me and others was that it was no longer suitable for those of my generation, nor even of my boyfriend who is nearly forty.  The new visitors to the soi were often Chinese and female  but it was their youth and the behaviours that accompany youth that eventually  lost Ambiance (and Panorama) my custom.  
I've just re-read the above. And yes; I am getting old.

If we are talking Nice Boys at Sunee, then that is one of my absolute favourite bars, and how I miss the place stuck here in England.
I have an ex-Pat friend who still visit most weeks and it seems to be ticking-over during the pandemic which is far better than most bars are faring at the moment.
Mostly straight boys, mostly handsome, and almost all too willing to show you all they have on offer while they are on stage.
Call them off-stage for a drink and you can examine their 'goods' yourself, HJs, even BJs available in the bar; mutual if you want most times. 20 baht for a very quick fondle, 100 baht for a more leisurely stroke, and 300 baht if they cum - not set prices, but what I usually give.
300 baht in the wooden bin and the mamasan bangs it on the table as a signal for a cum-contest on stage - the first lad to cum (and they come off stage to show you) gets the 'prize'. 
Barfines reasonable, and drink prices far lower than Boyztown for example.  A fun, debauched, happy place!
One or two of the boys have become regulars to my room, either just with me or with my long-time. 
Since the closure of Good Boys and Eros Bar in Sunee itself, there are few others such places still operating anywhere in Pattaya. Please god it survives in business until I am next able to visit once again.

I enjoyed Niceboys last Friday as I was visiting a friend for Merry Christmas.They had a nice slew of boys on stage and everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was in clear view. The place was friendly and no smoking.But, it was slow with customers. I really enjoyed it!

Farang customers are scare in the go-go bars these days so there are many boys  waiting and waiting for someone to off them up until closing time.

Lots of pizza and boys and farang.

Tonight, Friday, 25 Sept. the owner, Paul, of Winner Bar is having a party to celebrate his birthday.
I believe there will be pizza being served.   And lots of boys.

Dream Boys has a really sexy show with 10 or more boys wearing only a condom.  Fast paced and eye popping good
finale.  The lads pour into the audience for tips and groping if you like that sort of thing.  Lots of fun.
Last night, about 8 Asian ladies in the audience and they were tipping hundred baht notes.  Boys were happy with tips.
 I go 2 or 3 times a week,
some nights only one or two customers, other nights almost full house.
some boys are big but many are slim.   all get hard. Beautiful naked butts too.  Check it out!
 

Dream Boys loaded with boys two nights ago on a Monday night.  At least 12 boys on the stage in their undershorts.  Last night,
a few less but still lots of choice, good a/c and boys grateful for tips and offs.  Drink prices reduced to around 200b.  Few customers.

I am in agreement with you z909, my preference is the skinny lads at a go go bar. But many in the gay community, with partners, don't ever visit the gay venues and even more so with Covid.
Until tourism reopends it will be up to the expats and gay Thais to keep things open and alive.
 

No one should be surprised that those of us separated from people (or places) we love should clutch at straws. It is entirely natural, even for pessimists like myself. Nor am I surprised that some expats on different forums have been  regaling us with stories about how wonderful it is for them in our absence...empty roads,  numerous  guys  desperately seeking falang assignations, no Chinese tour buses clogging-up the roads, no motor-bike racing up Soi Yensabai. Heaven!
But let's face it, some expats have never liked us much. After all, we drive up prices  by over-paying at go-go bars; as one expat said  many years ago,  if it wasn't for tourists , an off would still be 500 bht. "Two-week Charlies" was his description. Fair enough; some of us had jobs to go to back home.
However, I could do with just a tad less smugness. There aren't enough expats to keep the scene alive; not just bars and massage joints but even the availability of mbs on hornet and Planet Romeo. Accordingly, I'd welcome a little more sympathy or at least an understanding that separation is painful; that some of us haven't seen our partners for many months and have little chance of doing so for the foreseeable future.
One further observation; expats may be enjoying life at the moment but there are locals dependant on charitable food donations- many  not only miss tourists but need us to feed their families.  Perhaps a realisation that Pattaya expats themselves feed off tourism, directly or indirectly- indeed, if it were not so, why would expats have  chosen Pattaya to live in the first place? And furthermore that, however happy they are in their virus and tourist -free environment today,  others people, both falang and Thai,  are hurting? 

Nothing wrong with Hornet and Grindr except you can't get a decent drink there.

Rainwalker was a former moderator of this board.  A friend posted on Facebook that Rainwalker passed away last night.  This is very sad news as he was a great guy and known to many in Thailand.  He lived in both Chiang Mai and in Pattaya and drove his motorbike around the globe.  He was someone who was always a wonderful dinner conversation companion.  He will be missed by many.

I have been lucky in that regard. But, I think part of my success is giving boys the freedom to be with me and have their own life.  Most farangs want boys to only be with them and make them their life.  I have never done that and both of my boys (over 12 years) have LTR with ladies.  I have met them, hung out with them and support them.  It doesn't work for everyone but for me it works well. 
 
There are tons of boys out there. They are looking for good farangs who do not want to change them. Love them and they will love you in return.  But, love them without expecting them to change.

I have watched the film Hormones from 3 years ago, but didn't know of the existance of this series which seems to be a spin off from the film. Thanks to this post and having watched the first episode (set in a Bangkok High School) via Youtube, it would seem that this series is as enjoyable as the film was, with humour to help the serious topics raised.
