Jar, you are getting good advice from people who know the system. I tend to only take guys I am interested in and usually know in 5 minutes if I am going to be with them or not. I always tip at least 200 baht but if I know I want the guy on a future date, more is good too.  I do the same no matter the city or venue. Often if I like someone and just want them to hang with me I'll tell them I'll stay through the show but can't take them home but will tip 500 baht if they want to stay with me for a bit. I never get that offer refused. But, it could be possible if the guy is looking for an off.  With guys I have been with many times, I often have them over for a drink and I tip them better than mentioned above depending on how much I like them. Some guys I know from Pattaya and I always tip 500 or 1000 to "help" them out and to catch up on old times. In the end, it is up to you but just be kind and fair and all the boys will know you are good.

those questions guys are asking are their way of keeping conversation going , not really because they are that curious although some answers my reveal something precious to them , for example if you tell them it's your first time in Thailand they  may see you as easy prey for higher tip because you don't know rates but at the same time it's warning signal for them that you don't know rates and may be unwillingly too stingy.
I never thought about this but was told by a guy that some new arrivals  don't know the rates and are tipping too low.
Revelation of hotel you are staying may , in boy's eyes , reflect size of you wallet.
You give tip to boy when you are sending him away, this is compensation for losing earning potential when he was locked with you. Sometimes I know for sure I will not be offing and take guy to sit just to have somebody warm beside, in such case I tell them right away so they know they can go back to the stage whenever they want.
If you like boy  but are not offing him tonight, heed hank's advice above and tip him more generously to stay good in his books for next time but don't over do it as they may label you easy prey and next time you may have more admirers you can handle, each one with palm stretched out for more. Happens very rarely but it does and it may be annoying.
Don't avoid answering their questions but feel free to embellish the truth if you think they  are too nosy. They are not but their English is limited  and so is scope of conversation.

Yes, hank cover most of the things. As always, lower tips is still better than no tips at all. Money is money. If u sit with the boy, drinks ordered, some chat but u decide to off him, i do think no further tips is required. If boy says he dont need a drink (maybe your regular or he preferred tips) i definitely will tips boy more than 100. Any indecent touches also warrant extra tips in my opinion. U can also tips with another drink if u see the boys likes drinking. I usually give my real (first) name, area of hotel rather than specifying exact hotel, and of course you can lie about length of stay unless you plan to go back to the bar every single day. Weekend in Bangkok
I'm up early and Van won't be up for a while.  We had sort of thought of going to Chatuchak market but by the time he'll be up and we get going it will be mid-day and the temperature will be in the mid 30s...not going to happen.  I repeat my morning swim and when I return, Van is up.  He suggests a bath together as the tub in the suite is roomy.  I approve of his suggestion and we enjoy ourselves.  Best bath I've had in many a month/year.
We head out to MBK, once there we eat in the international food area where he indulges in some massive shrimp dish.  Then we go upstairs and go bowling...this is a joint comedy routine as we are each very bad at bowling.  But we have fun.
The day is wearing on and Nuguyen is due this evening, I show Van his photo in the Screwboys as in Thai Puan.  Van knows him only slightly and approves.  This is a case taht without the approval, I'd still be seeing Nuguyen.  While we're at MBK, I ask Van if there's anything he'd like or needs.  He said wait until we get to Chatuchak tomorrow.  We head back to the hotel, he grabs his stuff for work and heads out.

So, two days later, Van is getting ready to go home for Tet and needs to shop and pack, he tells me he'll be back by dinner time.  I go into the bedroom and fall asleep.  Van returns, laughing, he comes into the bedroom, and says he has a surprise for me...he did...it was N2.  Turns out, he's one of Van's roommates and had seen photos of my from Van's phone.  They'd worked out the surprise together.  He tells me this as he undresses me and himself and reintroduces me to his stunning physicality.  Van shuts the door for our privacy as he wont be part of a threesome with N2.
Lessons learned: there are no secrets among the guys and this surprise began my understanding the level of Van's taking care of me.  N2 eventually moved back to Vietnam, then to Europe where he was in London once when I visited.

Sorry i havent update my report for a while. Like i mentioned before, two other like-minded guys will join me tonight to go to the bars. So that night after dinner, both guys updated me when they have landed and making their way to the hotel. KL will arrive earlier and we plan to meet at family mart soi twilight before heading to moonlight, a bar that ive told him about and share their fb, and he is very interested to go and visit this bar. We met around 10pm and waste no time and off to moonlight. I told BN to come to moonlight to join us when he arrived. He said he will take grab from his hotel. 
So me and KL cross the road and went straight to moonlight counter, pay the entrance (480 - peak season price) and enter and pick our seat, in the center, not too close to the stage nor too far. Boys on stage are not impressive to both of us, and mamasan that served me before recognize me and start taking our drink order. I asked mamasan if they have more boys, and he said some boys are preparing for the shows. Anyway, i noticed one familiar face sitting down with customer in front of us, one of moonlighy model who have been quite the talk of the forum, the famous and infamous nicky lol. I may sound naive because everything is possible but if I had any  doubts about security of being with guy of my choice I'd not go with him. I don't mind reception taking ID and never was with boy who would do either  but if that step is bypassed , I don't care much.
Age checking  is not  a problem with me because I prefer 25-35 sector.
In Raya reception is on the 5th floor and access to elevators is by card so if you are staying in say, 6th you bypass reception entirely but if checking id is important , nothing stops one from  going through reception anyways and if guy objects, better send him away ASAP.

In Zing after 11:00 pm they close the gate so you cannot by pass reception. Everytime I had a boy I stoped at reception and they collected id. I don t know about checking when the boy leaves because I always come down with him out of coutesy.
There was a notice at the reception "only one guest in the room" but when a boy who wanted a 3some with his friend asked at the reception on our way out the receptionist said no problem and did not mention anything about joiner s fee.

At one point, The Raya wanted "guests" to stop by the desk so the staff could make a photocopy of the identification.  That was for the hotel's protection in meeting certain requirements.  The identification went back to the guest before he came to the room.  No call when they left as no need to stop to get identification.  In August, the need to leave a photocopy wasn't insisted upon.
The Poseidon in Pattaya does take the ID and does call upon departure.

Raya and zing didnt take id, well raya, ive always didnt go to reception but zing, in one ocassion, i went to the reception with boy since i left the key there. No request of id. Ambiance however asked for id, except if the boy is well known to the counter. But if you are concern, u can always bring boy to counter and ask them to leave their id. Unless the boy is underage or have ill-intention, i dont think they would mind.

I am probably wrong in this -- as I am in so many things --  but I think there are far many more hunkier well-built guys working in massage than bars (in Bangkok) and, by extension, more well-built gym-fit bottoms to be found there.  A full service massage might not be what you're interested in, but it's something you might consider.   Each shop has some guys who will happily and professionally bottom/top/both whatever you want.  Of course, just as with bar guys, it's still an intensely personal activity so it's best not to expect a fulfillment of fantasies, but I think you can usually expect professional rambunctious sex.  And a massage.
Arena - tries to fill the muscle-guy marketing niche (almost Tawan size).  For me, I wish they would focus more on looks, but they are committed to their niche.  Last year I went and I asked for a guy who would bottom and there was one guy.  But the good news is he was very handsome late 20s maybe 30, and he was great, so it worked out very well.  [As in so many things, all you need is one.....]. There might be someone there for you.  
VCK or Prince.  Find their websites and you can get a sense of the guys who work there.  Then either go and pick from the line up or, what I recommend if you are comfortable picking from photos, the day before or day of your visit contact the shop on Line.  Be polite.  They will send pics of who bottoms and then make a booking.  Prince seems to run about 75-80% straight top only, so if you're picking from the line-up there you ask the manager and usually he will point out who will bottom.  VCK has more guys (usually) and has a lot of gay/do everything guys as well as straight guys, and the helpful managers will give you guidance.  But the bottom line (he he he) at the big brothel massage shops is that it's understood that part of your selection process is getting a guy who does what you want.  Prince is convenient to Silom but I think VCK is quite a bit better right now so worth the visit to Ari.

As far as bars, there's always a big selection of guys at Fresh Boys.  I think there seems to be an emerging consensus that right now Fresh Boys is better for twinks than Classic.  And Dreamboys has ramped up again for high season.  But bounce around.  
For whatever reason(s) I'm one of the lucky ones who has never gotten bad advice from a mamasan or had a guy refuse anything agreed.  
I have also never had any problems with people of any particularly nationality and I pay the same standard BKK short-time regardless of country.   I think some people bring self-fulfilling negative prophesies to their interactions with some guys.  So personally I recommend keeping an open mind.  Whatever particular combination of attitude, Rubens-esque body type or pheromones I have, I just don't worry about where a guy is from and so far success.
