Hope you'd write as detailed and as interestingly when you return from your trip to Cuba next month. Your sharing can serve as a precursor to my hoped trip to Havana for the 39th Jazz Festival. Unfortunately, I'll be going with a group but plan NOT to participate in some of the itinerary if it's quite similar to the second one I was on when I went to Habana for a mere 8 days. Your saga here piques my interest frequently!

I was a member for many a year. This site received minimal postings because of the dearth in travelers who would respond. ... haven't been to the site any of 2016 and rarely during the preceding year, for my last trip to "Mother Brazil" was in 2011. I do hope to return sometime in 2017!!

A Brit amigo of mine has traveled to Cuba about five times. When he's sent me his report of all of the fun that he had, he has stated that the men with whom he had fun and played were all married and/or had a woman friend! Apparently, the thoughts about "straight men" having sex with other men in Cuba is similar to that of Brasil.

Returning after almost three years

I appreciate your taking the time to begin your adventures in writing while you're there. Continue to enjoy yourself and take in "The Marvelous City," again after a three year hiatus. My last time in Rio after ten previous trips was in 2011, and I truly yearn to return in 2017. Currently, I'm mentally planning! -Axiom- -

9 days 8 nights in Havana

I have not been to http://www.gayromeo.comin quite a while, for I have had browser problems, but let me assume that the plethora of Cubans on this site are on the user sector. I write this based on a friend's experience. Since I don't speak or write Espanol, I can't communicate there very easily. One guy who formerly was on http://www.gayromeo.comand who I saw last February is now on the user area from what one friend of mine relayed; his name is Yoel. He does not speak very much English, but he's masculine, very hot, and has a gorgeous uncut endowment. You might want to check him out. -
In terms of restaurants in the various cities and towns, why not first check to see what's on http://www.tripadvisor.comas well as what's provided at http://www.gaycities.com. I've found both sites to offer valuable information regarding restaurants, etc. In doing this one can get a sense of what's available. That's what I did in reference to independently run restaurants in Habana, Cuba. When I told my guide/director that I'd like to eat elsewhere on two occasions, she began to question. She was surprised that I knew the better restaurants that exist in her city. All was good in the end!

Go to http://www.riogayguide.com. It is chalked full of information. Also, to see the sights, check out the "Hop on "Hop Off" bus if they are available in Rio. You travel at your own pace and do as you wish in terms of your length of time. There are guys on http://www.craigslist.comwho serve as guides for a fee. {I sent you a long pvt. regarding this and a few other things!} ...wrote more here, but when I wanted to change a word inadvertently deleted.}

As far as how to connect, check out Anthony's blog: http://www.Monaga.net. It has wonderful sources and information that I think would be helpful. There's a club that' s directly across the street from the gay hotel Adams Suites as well as a cinema of which you'll probably be interested. I have a friend who's been to the cinema; he raved about it. Remember not to take valuables and to have your money hidden as well. Lastly, in terms of the best times to go as to the weather, do a google check. That's what I did a few days ago, and from my reading it I am seriously thinking about going in December of this year. -
Trzinko, muchas gracias! I truly enjoyed viewing the photos and reading about your experiences. I'd appreciate your information regarding Mauricio, cutie if desires to serve as a guide for future travelers. ..can identify when you commented about the salt mine in Poland. ...went there and had a very wonderful experience. ...would be interested in going to the one in Bogota if I ever manage to travel to COLOMBIA. Again, thanks a lot for posting and informing. I'm elated that you had a wonderful trip. Axiom

Before year's end I am seriously thinking about traveling to Santo Domingo for a few days. ...am aware of Adams Suite and Hotel Duque De Wellington as being two gay, gay-friendly hotels, but after reading the material/the reviews at www.TripAdvisor.com, I'm having second and third thoughts about staying at either place. I would like to stay in the Zona Colonial. Are there other hotels available which allow the guests to have company? I'd appreciate additional information, pro favor! (...am aware of and have read extensively the blog at www.monaga.net.

SolaceSoul, thanks for writing this. When I read Scott’s comment, it really bothered me. When one travels outside of his own country, he should at least learn and use some basic words of the country and/or countries to which he’s traveling. -
Returning after almost three years

I’ve always enjoyed visiting Brazil from my first trip in 2002 up to my last of 2011. Right now I am hoping to return in 2017, revisiting Rio, Salvador (Bahia), Sao Paulo, and perhaps a couple of other places which will be new for me. Thus far, I’ve been to the major geographical areas of Brazil. This was mentioned to me by my late travel agent in 2007 or 2008. Enjoy immensely as previously! -
I don’t know what the fee request is at present, but if it is R$100, then don’t worry, for with the exchange rate being as it is, that is not much money at all. Don’t expect to pay what the locals pay, for the guys at the saunas don’t expect to receive from a tourist what he receives from a local. When I traveled to both Rio and to Sao from 2002 until 2011, I paid no more than R$100; I did not do any overnighters. Read the other threads regarding fee requests at the saunas in Brasil. Also, note the economy in Brasil has tanked, and if the quoted fee is R$100- R$150 plus, negotiate. The final, agreed to amount is the guy’s choice.

Common Portuguese for Gay Sex

Few guys in Rio de janeiro are into S/M. I write this because at the other site some time ago, this scene was addressed, and most of the guys responding by stating the lack of in the cities in Brasil. They did not address Argentina. You might want to join the other site in order to write at any of the forums; the same as here. The site to which I'm referring is: http://www.boytoy.com. I'm personally not 100% into guys who are "labeled" twinks, but many of the photos which are posted contain a variety of men. -
I like your ..."bi, leaning towards straight." ...or "gay for pay" or as you wrote in your private to me! Thanks for answering!

MUCHAS Gracias, Oji On my first and only Sunday in Havana last March, I left my room at the Hotel Presidente and walked along the Malecon and went into a smallish cafe and purchased some large bottles of water and took back to my hotel room. They lasted me for the rest of the trip, for during my daily outings with the small group, our tour director provided each of us with one small bottle of water per day. I was ok with this! Since I had mine in my frigo bar in the hotel, I was all right. In terms of food- check out the website in my first post which provides the better restaurants. Listed are some great restaurants in Habana. Also, you should have done a quick check on restaurants on TripAdvisor. Apparently great places are listed and reviewed there as well. The restaurants that I ventured to with my travel companions were wonderful, too. I wrote reviews for all of the ones that we visited. When I manage to visit again, I’ll have my lists in tow and have my director or the owner of the casa particulars to make the reservations for me. What guidance did you receive from the owners of the casa, and was it a gay friendly casa? If you made your arrangements via www.cuba-junky.com, please write a review for future travelers. Be as detailed as possible, pro favor. Lastly, I’m happy for you and glad that Yoel is still escorting. The last time that I looked at www.gayromeo.com, his ad was taken down. His mature friend, Frank relayed to me that at the time this young cutie was having cell phone or internet problems. And I’d agree with you, his pinga is large, very flavorful, and feels oh so good in one’s tight crevice. The only problem that I had with this stud is that he didn’t engage longer as I’d wish and didn’t kiss as much either. Don’t give up on Habana or Cuba in general. Next time just try to be more prepared about the food and water situation, and try to travel there during the best times for weather— latter February through latter May. Axiom If you’ve never been to Brasil, you will find it easy for the basics, etc. Remember Cuba has been cut off from the mainstream for over 50 years, and a lot of things of which we are accustomed do not exist there. Even paper products are limited. If I travel independently, I’ll have my toilet paper, tissue, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, poppers, lube, condoms: everything that I’ll need because of the acute lack of supermarkets and other places for convenience as well as necessities.

It is supposedly a fitness center. He and I have not discussed this in our Facebook conversations, but one of the men whom I suggested contact D- for guiding relayed this to me. -

There is one guy who has a goggle account as a guide in Rio de janeiro. He's gay, speaks English, and received some negative reviews a few years back. I think he's improved based on some comments I read somewhere a few months back. His name is Marcelo and is NOT to be confused with the stellar guide in Buenos Aires. Do a google check and write to him citing your specific needs and wants and desires. This young man served as a guide for a good acquaintance of mine some years back and was a dud then, but again, I think his services have apparently changed. Danilo is based in Sao Paulo and continues to serve as a guide. He's on my FB page and writes daily. Last summer he guided two friends of mine and received high marks from them. In the mid 2000s he guided my friend in both Sao Paulo and Rio. If you desire his flying to Rio and meeting you as a guide for culture only, he'll do that. He has apparently divorced himself from taking guys to saunas from what my friends revealed to me, for today he is involved in high end guiding for the cultural components of a country, town, city, etc. He was in Turkey last year and posted on FB regarding this trip.
