This may be more of a geographic issue than a generational one. Also maybe an advertising venue issue (CL may not be the ideal place to find company for musical theater). I have never had trouble getting young people in NY or LA to attend theater with me. I think those of the young generation who love performing arts tend to gravitate towards these cities so you have a much bigger pool of opportunity to pull from. And usually how I meet them is chat them up at clubs, find out that they love Wicked, and then invite them to a show. I'd say it's close to a 50% success rate, which is pretty damn good. If you prefer to stay online only, Facebook works better because there's some opportunity to establish common ground. Typically friends of friends, a few back and forth messages, and then invitation. Works less often than in person, but definitely not zero.

The author of that article is Holman W. Jenkins. I want to mention his name because I agree with you that it may be the STUPIDEST article I have ever read in my life. To take the incredible mess that is Penn State's current condition, and somehow tie it to some financial corruption with Olympus scopes in Japan, may very well be the biggest non-sequitor I have ever seen attempted. And they printed it, in a "reputable" news journal.

As EXPAT so eloquently put it in the "what type of porn do you like" thread: "I prefer the real thing." That kind of explains any sporadic behavior you might find in my posting habits. My absences tend to be shorter and frequent and mainly due to being on the road and otherwise occupied. I love this site and try my best to keep up with sharing of information and such... but even my modus operandi of finding companion(s) has changed, such that usually now I find them in clubs and via friends of friends on facebook, etc etc. And actually have a "steady" for the last year or so who really makes me happy. So I have done very little hiring or strip club hopping (maybe one hire this entire year and one visit to a strip club all year...) so no longer have as much to contribute in terms of information in those areas. But ... it's a place I cherish and try to visit whenever I can.

I voted for tasty twinks but could have easily voted for college jock too... because it depends on jock of what. A collegiate swimmer, waterpolo, soccer, lacrosse, snowboarder, etc... just as tasty as any twink!

Oz: Similar to you, my first hire was off the stage at Nob Hill theater. young twink dancer that made my head boil. And it took me two circulations of dancers to get up enough nerve to even talk to him... and then the rest is history.

Actually the picture of George does more for me than the white spaces and indentation! I really do need to get myself to Prague!!!! I just got another report from a friend who said he had the most amazing 1 week there he has had in a while (and this guy gets just about anyone he wants wherever he goes).

75K can't do a whole lot these days... but what I would do is find the smartest, cutest, technology savvy entrepreneurial twink and pay for his first two years of college. In return, I get 5% of his first business. I am assuming if he's innovative, by the time he's a junior, he'll have figured out a way to pay for the rest of his schooling, or he'll already have patents for sale and won't even need to be in school anymore! LOL. In the meantime, hopefully, he'll be grateful and put out.

haha... you are showing your age (or your time spent in Europe). Average private college now is 40K for undergrad. The Ivy League, Stanford, etc fraternity is 60K all in for a year, leading it to be a quarter of a million if you finish in the standard 4 years. Ultimately, it's an unsustainable model for higher education, especially since many of those go off to grad school. Not sure what kind of life people will lead if the average professional begins his or her career with 400K of educational debt...

I prefer they go home, but unfortunately 90% of the time they dont. At least not right away. It's usually 5 AM by the time it's all done, and everyone kind of falls asleep. My usual experience is that everyone kind of suddenly wakes up at 8 or 9 AM with the "guest" awkwardly stating... oops late for "work" "appointment" whatever and then hurriedly scampering out. I agree it's risky when you fall asleep with a stranger in your home but typically alcohol and lust (that led to him being in your home the first place) impairs your judgement just a tad....
