  1. Frontispiece to the immortal Bored of the Rings...
  2. My greatest faith is in the post-Millenials. They seem to possess a humane common sense that has been somewhat lacking from the 1960s onward.
  3. Well, you have a point there.
  4. We had this unfair advantage: we were all boys. Together.
  5. Seems not to have a very high reputation. USE SOMEONE ELSE EVEN IF ITS MORE MONEY!!! https://www.trustpilot.com/reviews/5a98143ed27b0a0b3ce8ab9f
  6. Now THAT is 'service.'
  7. It was a 'high-class' doorman building (this one, in fact: http://www.505w37.com/), yet the attendants knew to let any and all kind of creature in and up who came calling, without even the doorman calling my house phone in advance.
  8. Need you ask!
  9. In my bed there in NYC, as reported, one typically went to bed with two boi strippers in tow, and somehow woke up to pee a couple hours later and two more had come home to roost. Thank god it was a king-size mattress.
  10. It is after all from a physics perspective the most stable & medically safe position.

I read somewhere that it was Queen Elizabeth's mother who was the stiff stick, and did not like any humor or any of that. But that once the old dame finally passed at 102, Queen Elizabeth II at last felt free to be her, by nature, funny witty wry self in public.
  13. I put that idea out as frequently as I can, to up my consulting rate$$$. ...Legends is actually a very nice gay club here in Raleigh. http://legends-club.com/

  18. I get what you say. I agree somewhat, but not by far entirely. There is a deep citizens'-right-to-bear-arms embedded in the 2nd Amendment. That was informed by the existence of George III, and goes beyond the Original Intent of having immediately armed states' militias etc. to quell slave uprisings. But it is far more than clear that the gun manufacture industry, as I have said here before starting just after the cessation of the Civil War, put out a very effective PR campaign to distort & grossly enlarge the perceived intent of the 2nd Amendment to allow any grossest kind of abuse of firearms weaponry at all. Obscene Congressional uptake of firearms makers' lobbying funds is the clearest present proof.

  20. I try to buy everybody here a round, at least once or twice a day.
  21. One of one's gods... Ludwig Wittgenstein From the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus: 3.328 "If a sign is not necessary then it is meaningless. That is the meaning of Occam's Razor." (If everything in the symbolism works as though a sign had meaning, then it has meaning.) 4.04 "In the proposition there must be exactly as many things distinguishable as there are in the state of affairs, which it represents. They must both possess the same logical (mathematical) multiplicity (cf. Hertz's Mechanics, on Dynamic Models)." 5.47321 "Occam's Razor is, of course, not an arbitrary rule nor one justified by its practical success. It simply says that unnecessary elements in a symbolism mean nothing. Signs which serve one purpose are logically equivalent; signs which serve no purpose are logically meaningless." and on the related concept of "simplicity": 6.363 "The procedure of induction consists in accepting as true the simplest law that can be reconciled with our experiences." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam's_razor
  22. For @RA1... Pilot's spectacular photos taken from an airplane cockpit https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/pilot-cockpit-photos-christiaan-van-heijst/index.html?gallery=0
  23. I think that's a pretty wild-eyed view of things as they are. The notion that military-grade weapons of war should not be in the hands of private citizens seems to me rational & reasonable. To exaggerate that into a notion of confiscation of all guns of any type seems to me fairly silly.
