  1. P.S. When did you morph into Sarah Huckabee Sanders?!

  3. You give a lot of credit.
  4. BTW. i have exposed 10,000 percent of my life -- good, and bad, and VERY bad, and indifferent -- on this site. you never have. how DARE you make the statements you have here now. i challenge you to write down here what you mean. what you have said, without specificity, is insulting beyond measure.

  12. P.S. The double-edged nature of that observation is -- genuinely! -- very much appreciated. It only dawned on me now. Please forgive the slowness. I feel like one of those dinosaurs with a tiny brain in the head, and another in the tail. [Maybe they had an advantage?] Situational awareness is all. That is only to say: Your profession should be a model of how to approach all of life. 'A. N. C.' You may explain, if such is felt needed.
  13. Also: @Lucky, your penchant for coming here to, ostensibly, clamor for greater forum participation, but then just enacting ad hominem attacks on active posters, seems a very unlikely way to increase participation. You elect to say that my posts must be because I have fallen off the wagon. You said that Lookin's plea in 2014 for greater forum civility must have been a symptom of his marijuana-induced personality passivity. And so forth and so on. Anger management therapy can be, if you sincerely seek it out and participate in it, a very effective therapeutic route out of your pathologies exhibited here over the years. As someone who has put himself through thousands of hours of various forms of therapy and counseling, including four years of psychotherapy and then four years of on-the-couch psychoanalysis, I cannot recommend those treatment modalities strongly enough. They can give you great surcease from the demons that very evidently trouble you.

    Longer version.
  16. Hardly! (So to speak ) I would have thought that my interleaved references, spread across various different Fora here, to the Yalesmen of Skull & Bones -- who during the Second War made up the backbone of the intelligence services -- and then my Dark Shadows posts (whose relevance you may derive as an Exercise for the Student ) and others such as noting that remote personal acquaintance Julia Child rose from secretary to spy during WWII -- would have made my train of thought here obvious. Nein?

‘China Is Laughing About This Situation’ Legendary Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei talks about Trump, Western democracy and the plight of refugees around the world. By SUSAN B. 18. In the Renaissance, an image for 'perfection' was two mirrors facing each other. One feels that may be the situation that you and I find ourselves in here now.
  19. Yes. You say 'rude.' I say 'honest.' We have had this dispute before, more than once.
  20. I hardly need to be, to be myself. As you know, from periods of knowing me sober.

Eight jet engines seem to me just about exactly the right number. Being a consultant about engineering, I know all the contemporary engine design certification forensics etc etc. And the business drivers of fuel economy and operating economy and and and. But I still think just two engines is at least two too few.

In pulling us into ROOTING FOR Pickens to get those bomb doors open -- thus dooming the world -- Kubrick is enacting a trick on the audience that dates back at least to Milton. Who, as deliciously delineated by critic Stanley Fish in his book Surprised by Sin,, seduces us into falling in love with and rooting for his anti-hero Satan! Pretty obvious, once you hear it articulated. Even though believing-Protestant Milton pretty clearly had no conscious idea that was what he was doing. And further, courtesy Wiki, a la the recent topic here of help vs harm from social media: As a prominent and respected literary theorist, Fish is best known for his analysis of interpretive communities — an offshoot of reader-response criticism. Fish's work in this field examines how the interpretation of a text is dependent upon each reader's own subjective experience in one or more communities, each of which is defined as a 'community' by a distinct epistemology. For Fish, a large part of what renders a reader’s subjective experience valuable — that is, why it may be considered “constrained” as opposed to an uncontrolled and idiosyncratic assertion of the self — comes from a concept native to the field of linguistics called linguistic competence. In Fish’s source the term is explained as “the idea that it is possible to characterize a linguistic system that every speaker shares.”[15] In the context of literary criticism, Fish uses this concept to argue that a reader’s approach to a text is not completely subjective, and that an internalized understanding of language shared by the native speakers of that given language makes possible the creation of normative boundaries for one’s experience with language.[citation neede https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Fish
  23. An extraordinarily Trump-level definition of 'success.' You know better.
  24. Also, their agencies pay me in my consulting capacity to help them evaluate, qualify and select certain digital technologies they need to do their work, and to evaluate the companies that develop and market those technologies. The Bureau, the SS (ours, not that other one ), the NSA, etc. They pay their bills on time!
