Generally, in Eastern Europe I don’t indulge my hobby. I go for significant amounts of hiking and mountain biking. Ukraine and Poland may be a different story. In Ljubljana I was told by younger people I met that: Montenegro is summer was not to be missed. Not tourist-infested yet. Sarajevo has great food. Belgrade is the new Berlin. Bulgaria has great food and stunning scenery. The Black Sea is being discovered by Western Europeans. Bucharest is interesting. Ditto, Albania. I don’t think I can fit Albania in to this trip.

I wonder if I should just bypass Bucharest this summer and spend more time in Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro?

I too enjoyed his post. I could afford those places, but I’ve always been averse to staying in opulent hotels. I’m strictly a 3-star kind of traveler, or Airbnb. I do like the idea of fresh flowers and I think I’ll buy some today!

I went from Austria, so didn’t pass any cities on the way. It was a lovely ride on the spotless OBB through the Alps. I enjoyed looking. It’s been quite warm here in Central Europe and a lot of the boys were wearing shorts. I’d guess the average height is around 6’. They’re an amazingly fine featured group.

Had a cancelled meeting yesterday so I took a 4 hour train ride to Ljubljana and spent the night on a whim. Not only is it a lovely, charming city, but the boys are absolutely breathtaking. Tall, lean with mostly blue eyes. And the nicest people overall. Less than 24 hours, but definitely worth a return visit!
