My love one and I just returned from a visit to China. The area we visited was around Guilin and Guangzhou. Not the usual areas but I sure learned a lot. The most serious problem we encountered is that virtually no one speaks anything but Mandarin or Cantonese. This makes it quite difficult to get around. On the plus side are the facts that the people are just like everyone else in the world in that some are very nice and some less. The country that I saw was clean except for public restrooms which can be really filthy. It was a big surprise for me to find the towns so modern. I had expected the old cities like we see in movies. Not so. The train system is second to none in the rest of the world. It is ahead of any in Europe and of course the abysmal system in the US. Did see some really cute Chinese boys that I would like to have gotten to know but language is a real barrier. A return visit to China is on the docket with the Beijing area is the goal.

Gay sex in Thailand comes in many flavors and in several ways. As long as you enjoy sex with Asians you will surely find what you are looking for here. And, if you are willing to pay for it then you will save your wallet much pain and suffering. Sex is cheap in the Land of Smiles. There are basically four ways of connecting with a boy to satisfy your desires. Cruising, two types of bars and massage parlors. The old time honored methods of cruising are all available. Whether you are one who enjoys working parks, toilets in many places, including some of the fine department stores or just walking the streets it is actually easier to cruise here than in the US. Many more boys are available and are easier to make a connection with. Even better if you are under 50. As said above, there are basically two types of bars where you will be able to pick up boys. The first is the old fashioned Gay bar as is found in the West. The two main ones in Bangkok are Telephone Pub and Balcony Bar and both of them are located on Silom, Soi 4. (For those of you totally unfamiliar with Thailand addresses, the name of the main street is given with the smaller perpendicular street or alley given the name soi and usually a number or name.) There are many others but these are the main two of this type of bar. Here you will go in for a drink and look around. Many freelancers work these places and will either approach you or you can talk to them. Usual fee is 1000 Baht ($30) for what is referred to as a short time, which is an hour or however long it takes you to get off. The second type of bar is a “show bar”. Here there will be boys dancing (term used loosely) on a stage. All will be wearing the same swim suit or underwear and will move around the stage trying to get your attention. Each of the boys will have a number attached to their clothing and you will either get the “mamas an” to get one if you want to talk to him or you can motion to him yourself and he will come to sit with you and try to get you to “take him off” (about 300 baht or $10. This means that you will pay the bar a fee to take him someplace for sex. His actual fee is negotiated directly with the boy. The fee they will try to get is about 1500 baht but you can almost always get him for 1000 baht. The downside of these places is the cost of drinks which is, in my opinion, outrageous at 250 to 300 baht. There is often a sex show twice a night but this is just not worth the cost of the drinks unless you are loaded or enjoy this type of thing. Some shows have actual fucking on stage. In addition there are discos and Karaoke bars but I do not frequent them and therefore cannot offer any advice. The last venue to discuss is the massage parlors. This is actually a recent discovery for me. While I certainly knew they existed, I had never gotten a massage for the sex part. They come in many varieties and prices. Though I have a friend who does not like it, most foreigners tend to enjoy Thai food very much. It is usually made from very fresh ingredients and being cooked as it is ordered improves the flavor over foods which are prepared in advance as in most western restaurants. Don’t think that because of this you will have to wait very long for your food. The Thai method of cooking is very simple and quick and you will be served in a most reasonable time. While Thai food is known for being very spicy this should not be a problem for you because as soon as the waiter or waitress realizes that you are not Asian the spiciness is, usually, automatically toned down. As a measure of insurance you should learn the magic words which are spelled phonetically as “my pet” and means not spicy. Speaking to a Thai person can be somewhat challenging because they try to translate Thai to English in the same syntax as they speak Thai. We do the same thing when attempting to speak Thai. Do not speak English as they do. If you speak English correctly, slowly and clearly they will be better able to understand what you are saying as they usually learned English in school or from English speaking people. Just remember not to laugh if you or they make a mistake when speaking because they will think you are laughing at them and will be more inhibited in speaking with you. Thai people’s feelings can be hurt easily. Be cautious about being drawn into a political discussion about Thai Politics. This is a touchy subject because Thailand has been in political chaos for several years and the people are very much divided in their beliefs and, consequently, their political leanings. They are usually trying to find out if you are friend or foe. This usually begins with a question such as, “How you like Thaksin?” To say the least he is a very controversial former Prime Minister who is presently hiding in Africa to avoid arrest in Thailand but many Thais still support him strongly. They will not say anything harsh to you because Thais are non-confrontational but you will have left an impression by you response and it may be bad. Better to just say: I don’t know enough to answer the question. It is OK to talk international politics with them but as many say “politics and religion are tough subjects to talk about. The thing which drives me crazy about living in Thailand is how the people drive. It’s AWFUL. I have no idea where they learned to drive but you must be constantly on your toes while driving. I did not drive here for the first four years I visited and it was one year of living here before I started. If people in the US drove like Thai people do there would be blood in the streets and I don’t mean from traffic accidents. It would be from fists and bullets. They are the worse drivers I have encountered and this includes Rome and Mexico City and people in those places drive badly. This is not just in Bangkok but throughout the country. Whoever taught them to drive must have been blind and stupid. Lines in the road mean nothing to them. They speed, change lanes without regard to how close you are to the car in front of you, and often turn from an outside lane right in front of your vehicle. This does not even take into account the myriads of bastards on motorbikes who follow no rules or laws whatsoever. I get so pissed at them that sometime I wish I had a stick to hit them in the head. Enough, my blood pressure is up just writing about it. That’s it for this part of my ideas of what it is like to live in Thailand. Next time I’ll try to tell you what sex is like here.
