I'm terrified of a future filled with people who barely passed their driver's test motoring around at high speeds in cars that are essentially small atomic bombs. I predict that Nascar alone will turn the deep south into a glowing radiation pit.

I know I'm probably dumb, but I don't understand how electric cars are more green than gasoline cars. Somehow the electricity for the cars has to be made and I assume that oil or natural gas will be involved in the process in some way, shape or form - unless they are powered by nukes - and the idea of millions of people driving around small nukes at 65 miles and hour is terrifying.

There was a story in the New York Times the other day (I'd link to it but you need a password to look at the Times) saying that there is a problem in California democratic circles. They have a ballot initiative to alter the constitution to make same sex marriage legal. Some people in California are worried about it, because they think that Obama will bring out large numbers of new black voters - and they are convinced that the black voters will be anti gay. Anyone have any idea why California blacks would be against gay marriage? Do they have something against the The Cock?

Don't you think that changing the system from a situation where banks held the paper on mortgages - and were therefore inclined to make sure they made solid mortgages - to a system w here they could sell the mortgages after they made them, had a lot to do with this meltdown? I know that I would have no problem lending a bum on the street $50 if I knew I could sell that debt to someone else for $60 and let them try to collect.

Oz, I know. What I had found was a bad AP report that said he had donated the money in the other direction. I then noticed that every other report had it the way you have it - so I'm assuming that the site I found it on someone goofed.
