  1. Is it also a "media mistake" for the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Dr. Colleen Kraft) to give a PUBLIC interview and state that Trump's policy of separating children from parents at immigration - is CHILD ABUSE? http://thehill.com/latino/392790-american-academy-of-pediatrics-president-trumps-family-separation-policy-is-child
  2. Assuming you retained copies of their e-mail charging you for gas and assuming you had a receipt for the gas purchase just before you returned the car, all you had to do was call your credit card company and dispute the charge for the gas. You would also have to advise the credit care company that you notified the rental car company of the issue and that you were ignored.
  3. Good advice and comparison -
  4. Now, wouldn't that be wonderful? The similarity between those two freaks is remarkable. The greatest difference between the two is that Trump is a chronic habitual liar while Hitler merely exaggerated on occasion. Nonetheless, they will go down in history as "two peas in a pod" or something worse, perhaps.
  5. With any due respect, you do not know what or how I think. Your unnecessary comment is presumptuous, at best. My intention was to alert readers in this forum who visit Rio/Brazil to remain vigilant and to acknowledge news reports of increased crime in Rio. No, not all visitors to Brazil "test that instinct" every day or while in Brazil. Some visitors to Brazil do very foolish and dangerous things (I, included). So, without attempting to assume what or how others think, I simple want to encourage visitors to Brazil to realize that the good people there are in awful economic straits. Although most are honest people, some will harm visitors if they cannot feed or properly care for their families.
  6. I have traveled to Brazil countless times and to many other places throughout the world. Only in Rio did I personally know a client who was a "regular" at Clube 117 who took a garoto to his hotel was then robbed and killed by the garoto. That happened several years ago in Rio. In addition to that killing, there were several reported instances of garotos giving Americans the drug "good night Cinderella" but you don't hear much of that drug any more. I personally knew one American who had that drug given to him. When he woke (almost two days later) his money and passport were stolen but he was not physically manhandled during the incident. I am not telling about the above instances to scare people into staying away from Brazil. Rather I merely want to encourage visitors to exercise extra caution while in Rio. There is no doubt that crime in Rio is rapidly increasing. The awful economy in Brazil causes people to do mean things simply to survive or help their families survive. Despite the increase in crime in Brazil, I will not stop visiting Brazil as often as I do nor do I have great fear while in Brazil. On occasion I have been foolish by taking chances but nothing bad ever happened to me in Brazil. I seem to have an inner "sixth sense" that keeps me on the safe side of potential danger. I doubt that I will ever forget that person who was murdered merely because he met a handsome garoto at a sauna then decided to take him out of the sauna for more fun. The garoto was caught by the Rio police within days of the murder. The garoto stupidly forgot that all the saunas in Brazil keep a photocopy of identification of all garotos who work in the saunas. The garoto was easily traced back to the client he was seem leaving with from the sauna and whom he later killed. Bottom line, have a wonderful time in Brazil but remember "all that glitters is not gold."
  7. It is difficult to predict when Lagoa will be busy (or not busy). It depends on a lot of factors. You have to rely on probabilities. Brazil has a lot of holidays. Some holidays interfere with garotos going to saunas (Lagoa). Check out the holidays if going to Lagoa. Usual, Friday is the busiest, based on my experience visiting Lagoa. Saturday can be rather sparse but there have been days when it was busy. Sunday has always been a dull day at Lagoa for me. However, I don't go there anymore on Sunday. Things might have picked up. Over the past few months, Lagoa has been fairly active on Wednesday night. In prior years, Wednesday was fairly sparse. Bottom line - Friday is your best best for a fun time but you can also have fun other days, particularly on Wednesday. It is like predicting the weather when guessing when Lagoa will be busy or not.

  9. Well, one good thing Trump does is fit quite well in a uniform and he also knows how to do a good salute. Are these enough "good things" about Trump?
  10. Yes, the bottom feeder got to the bottom of the bogus claim (birther movement). He kept the bogus claim against Obama going for nearly a decade then suddenly said Obama was born in America. He never offered an explanation nor did he offer an apology for the years of harassment of Obama. Yes - the bottom feeder (Trump) got to the bottom - where he belongs. Check out his wardrobe closet below:
  11. Good response. Trump's grandfather, Frederick (born Friedrich) immigrated to New York City in 1885 from the German village of Kallstadt, Palatinate (by then part of the Kingdom of Bavaria near where Hitler was given the nick name "Bavarian Corporal" Hitler as a young corporal in the German army
  12. One of my friends went to Yale and knew him. He was quite the writer and poet.
  13. Mainly because it is "high tourist season" in Brazil - "High and Low Tourist Season in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rio de Janeiro's high tourist season is in December, January, February, and March, but mainly December and January, which are the summer vacation months in Brazil. Busy tourist times also include the month of July (Brazil's winter vacation)." The high tourist season is the chief reason for the airlines to charge more (rip us off) for the flights to and from Brazil. http://www.myriotravelguide.com/high-and-low-tourist-season-in-rio-de-janeiro-brazil/
  14. Suicide, in general, has been on the increase in the U.S. Perhaps no one knows the real answer for why people choose this method to exit life. Some leave notes of explanation but do the notes tell the full and real reason for such a deed? Those that take their life are not here to offer a full explanation. Earlier this week, Kate Spade, another public figure, chose the same method to kill herself as did Bourdain (hanging). What a grizzly way to go. Here is a link to an article that discusses the subject and its increase: http://www.mlive.com/news/us-world/index.ssf/2018/06/cdc_study.html "In its report, the U.S. government agency reports that in reported suicides that 54 percent of people who died by suicide did not have a known or reported mental health illness." - from the cited article - It is shocking to learn that suicide is now the fourth leading cause of death in America - 1. Heart attack - 2. Cancer - 3. Medical errors - 4. Suicide Not a pretty picture -
  15. You are correct. Brazilians who do not travel out of country are only slightly affected by the weak real. Day-to-day activities of most Brazilians remain much the same, cost wise. However, over crowding caused by many more tourists flocking to Brazil to take advantage of the favorable exchange rate and the easing of the Brazilian visa (now electronic if chosen) can be problematic. And, if a Brazilian wants to travel out of country to the U.S. or Europe for example, their money is weak and they must pay a lot more for goods that were previously cheaper for them.

  18. I don't "continually" get emails from boytoy but I have had several advising me that I have not logged in for 30 days (whiich cannot be correct) and for me to upload a photo. I guess the programmers are overworked or over tired when this happens so often. On another matter, when I log in, I often get taken to the profile of someone I recently messaged or who messaged me. In order to leave the profile, I have to log out and log back in to get to the regular forum. Programmers - where are you?
  19. Actually, I believe that it was a good idea to open a new thread for 2018 pricing. First, there are new members of this forum and many do not know how to do a search for this type of information. Secondly, many people don't like going back into old threads because information can be outdated. A new and current thread is a reinforcement of the prices charged in the saunas. Considering Brazil's current and terrible economic crisis, it was good that a thread was created to let readers who visit Brazil know that the financial crisis in Brazil has not materially affected pricing in the saunas. I think the earlier post above that criticized people for haggling over price was inappropriate. While I personally do not haggle, if others choose to negotiate that way, it does not affect me. I do what I do and others do what they do. Plain and simple. I am bewildered why a good faith thread would receive criticism. Let us all be happy that there is a Brazil we can visit.
  20. At the present time I found a tenant that pays rent on time. That tenant has been there more than one year. I do not want that tenant to leave. while I still own the condo. This tenant is reliable and does not cause me any aggravation like previous tenants did. In the past, I had several dead beat tenants that did not pay and had to be evicted. That was costly and took a lot of time. In the meantime, whenever I receive an offer to buy, I meet with the agents (and sometimes the potential buyer) only to find it a waste of time because of Brazil's strict lending/mortgage rules for new buyers. . If the current tenant leaves, and I have not sold the condo, I will look into the Airbnb possibility. Thanks for the suggestion.
