Cucuta,  the Pearl of the North, is a border town with Venezuela. In old travel guides (before the Venezuelan crisis), it's described as the place you cross as fast as you can before going to Venezuela.  
I doubt even a single tourist would think of visiting this city. There is not much to do other than visiting a few shopping centers. The roads are in terrible condition and the safety situation is questionable (although a taxi driver proudly told me that they are no longer in the top 50 most dangerous cities in the world).
In recent years, due to the abundance of Venezuelans (and Colombians) seeking a way out of poverty, it became the world capital of webcam, although lately, due to stricter rules by chaturbate, the number of 'estudios'  has reduced.   Oh, and Cucuta's climate is hot. Think of Pattaya in May, but without the sea breeze.

After arriving in Cucuta and checking into my airBnB, I messaged a grindr contact J (43 y/o) on WhatsApp. J is a  Colombian from Cucuta who got rich from trading with Venezuela (although I'm pretty sure there's a link with oil smuggling).   He wanted to meet me to practice his english.  He's not particularly handsome, but he sparked my interest when he told me that he currently owns a webcam studio.
He invited me to his home in Cucuta Bocono.  When the taxi driver entered the gated community, it felt like I was entering another world. On the outside, there are slums. on the inside, one huge villa is even more impressive than the other. All with private pools, perfectly maintained gardens and lots of staff running around. I even saw a ferrari parked on a driveway. There's no way  he can leave the gated community without losing his bumpers. The villa of J was a bit more modest, but still impressive.  We chatted a bit about (gay) life in Cucuta and he suggested  to give me a tour of his webcam studio ( I won't deny, that's what I was hoping for).

The webcam studio is centrally located in Cucuta and consists of two connected townhouses. Four rooms (and one kitchen) are used for broadcasting. Another two rooms for housing the models who live there, a small room for the 'monitor' and an office for the other staff.  It's a 24/7 operation. 
The administration keeps track of earnings and who's working.  
The monitor keeps an eye on what's happening in the rooms. There are security cameras in every room and he can also see their computer screens.  He intervenes when the boys (or their moderator) don't follow the rules. There's a long list of things they are not allowed to say or do (give personal information, golden showers in public, ..). 
In other words, forget about privacy as a user: any private message you send or private show you do with the webcam models, is monitored.  It's even worse for the boys who live there, they are monitored around the clock (there are security cameras everywhere, including in the common areas and shared bedrooms). Big brother in real life.
Other staff include a cook, handyman, maid and the manager who oversees the whole operation. The boys work in shifts of four, six or eight hours.  Some even work double shifts in different groups. 
J invites me in one of the broadcasting rooms. I see four guys sitting in doggy position, their butts pointing in my direction. 'Buenas noches', I say. Four talking butts reply in unison: 'buenas noches'.  It doesn't have to become more awkward than this hehe.  J asks the moderator of this group to cut the sound and he starts joking with the guys.  I got a lot of questions and we actually had a fun conversation, occasionally  interrupted by a small token donation of a user and a short show of one or more of the guys. 
Later we go to the living room and J introduces me to A, a hetero boy from Venezuela (19 y/o) and his top model.  'A' started working in a group of four, but earned the right to work solo.  I can see why he's popular, he has a boyish face, a catchy laugh and a great attitude. Thanks to his sponsors and popular shows, he had earned about 3000$ last month, a small fortune in Cucuta. 
The cook made pasticho* and I had dinner with J and a group of boys.  After dinner, I accompanied J and four boys to a cocktail bar named 'Dubai', at the beginning of the malecon. Their frozen cocktails are dirty cheap ( 6 kCOP) and the alcohol flowed abundantly.  Soon the boys were dancing and singing and we all had a great time.  
Speaking of the malecon. During the day it's a nice place to take a walk, but at night it's a no-go zone. One of the guys told me he got separated from his wallet, phone and clothes there. He had to walk back to the studio on socks and in underwear.

San Andres
On one of my previous trips, I met a webcam model F (19 y/o) from Baranquilla in Cartagena for a day & night.  F was an adorable guy and we got along quite well. We kept contact and he told me that he really wants to visit San Andres. I offered to pay for the trip (flight + all costs), and he accepted without hesitation. I was a little worried because he took the plane from Baranquilla while I was leaving from Medellin. It was his first time flying and I tried to explain everything as best I could. The downside is that it can be busy and noisy and sellers often bother you with their merchandise. But the beach is huge and you can always find a nice & quiet spot.  We rented a jetski and went as far as Johny Cay, a small island in front of the beach. Back at the airBnB, F told me that he loves to cook and luckily we had a fully equiped kitchen. F was a great cook and I probably saved quite a few pesos since we didn't have to go to restaurants.  In the evening, we did what the Colombian tourists do: stroll along the beach and malecon, buy drinks in the liquorias and dance on the music from the many radios that are caried along by other tourists.  
The next day, we rented a golf cart and we explored the island. There's only one road around the island, so you won't get lost and it's the best way to visit less crowded beaches. The west coast of the island is more rocky, but the water is crystal clear.  'West view' (next to la piscinita, closed due to a shark attack) is a perfect place to explorer the underwater world.  Rocky cay beach is also worth a stop. Renting a golf cart is the ideal way to explore the island, just make sure that you have your driver's license with you, there were multiple police checks along the way.
The next few days we would do a tour of the islands (recommended, although can be crowdy) and even a scuba diving introduction (very cheap over here). F loved everything and was the perfect travel companion. 
On our last day we were at the beach and F asked if I was interested in a threesome. San Andres is a great beach destination, especially if you rent a scooter or golf cart. There are no gay pubs or discos, but at least 'coco loco' appeared to be gay friendly. I don't think grindr is very active, but to be honest, I have no idea, since my location was already spoofed to my next stop: Cucuta.

After an uneventful flight, I arrive on Friday in the early afternoon at the airport in Medellin. No queue at migration and since I packed light (only cabin luggage), I'm at arrivals within 20 minutes after landing. 
I always ignore the guys offering taxi rides and I go upstairs, to departures, where I buy a local sim card (claro) at a shop called 'verano' (local 34). 
Right in front of that shop, there's an ATM of servibanca where you can withdraw up to 2 million COP (with a fee of 22k COP).
It's always better to take a taxi from departures. At arrivals, they have a fixed price of around 100 kCOP for a taxi ride to Medellin and there's no room for negotation.  At departures, some taxi drivers are looking for a quick ride and are prepared to lower the normal price. After meeting a fellow traveller who also goes to Laureles, we decide to share a taxi (40kCOP each).  For the next 4 days, I will stay in an airBnB in my favorite part of Medellin: Laureles.  It's more walkable, cheaper and it has a more local feel than gringo town Poblado. 
Two days before, a cute webcam boy M (19 y/o) gave me his WhatsApp and was eager to meet me after finishing his work today. Problem is that my last messages haven't been read.. I visited his room on the webcam site (you need a VPN, since they almost all block local access from Colombia) and asked him what's happening. He showed me the shattered screen of his phone..  We agreed to meet at 7:15pm in 'parque Belén', nearby the webcam studio where he wanks for a living.

He left around midnight and I payed the motorbike taxi to his place in Belén (5 kCOP). 
A great start of the holliday and I will certainly meet M again in the future. 
The next day, I planned to go to Guatape, together with an old favorite. He used to work on webcam, but now he combines studying with working in call center.  He arrived early at 9am, but I was suffering from jet lag and we decided to stay a couple hours in bed before taking the bus to Guatape. Sadly, he was also interested in my stamp collection, so I didn't get much rest.  Eventually we left to the terminal del norte at noon and took the bus to Guatape. I have visited Guatape before and still very much enjoy strolling through town, climbing el penol, .. We decided to have early dinner in a thai restaurant (thai terrace). At least my choice for a holliday in Colombia didn't meant that I had to skip eating my favorite food.  We hurried back to the bus station to take the last bus to Medellin and my friend left for work at the call center, after receiving 100 kCOP as help for paying the rent.  I rested a couple hours before going to the gay disco 'industry club' where I met a recent grindr contact. There was no barra libre that day (free drinks included with the entrance ticket), so I ordered a bottle of rum and partied with my new friend S (21 y/o). Several of his friends joined our table and we all had a good time.  At the end of the party, S wanted to join me to my room, but since he was clearly drunk and I needed my rest, I left alone and we agreed to meet the following day.
I got up at 3pm and messaged S.  He proposed to go to a gay sauna called 'sauna cruising'.  When I arrived at the premises, I received a message from him that he still had a bad headache and would prefer to stay in bed.  Damn. It's sunday and there's a long queue waiting to enter the sauna. Nobody in the queue looked even remotely appealing to me, so I decided instead to make a walk in centro and do some people watching around plaza Botero. I also messaged a couple of my WhatsApp contacts and I promptly received a reply from A (18 y/o), a grindr contact who asked for 'liga'.  We agreed on the price (150 kCOP) and activities and a couple hours later, we first met in unicentro Laureles (shopping center) and quickly moved on to my room.  Activities in bed were good. He's a university student and the first guy this weekend who has never worked on webcam (S and his friends also had a history on webcam).  He had plans to go out that evening with friends to premium club, the newest gay disco in town (nearby parque lleras).  I wanted to check out that place anyway, so I gladly accepted the invitation.  He asked if we could stop on our way to Poblado in barrio Antioquia* to buy poppers, but I declined for safety concerns.  At the entrance of parque lleras, he bought his poppers in a smoke shop, under the eyes of a couple police officers. I Don't know what the legal status is of poppers, but if it's illegal, it's a rule that is certainly not very much enforced.  Since we were early, we first had a drink in an almost deserted gay bar called chiquita. Later we went to premium,  a rooftop disco with lots of eye candy that day. I wasn't fond of the kind of music they played (guaracha), but the very handsome shirtless guys made up for it. After obtaining a couple WhatsApp numbers of cuties, I called it a night and went to bed. 
On monday, I did some work and later that day met C (26 y/o), whose company I already enjoyed on a previous trip.  After some shenanigans at my place, we grabbed a taxi to communa 13. That place was brimming with tourists.  C speaks perfect english and for a moment, a group of tourists started following us. To our amusement, they were convinced that he was their tour guide. Later that day, we went to Bello with the metro, where C had some business to do and where we seperated.  Grindr was very active when I was walking in the commercial center 'puerta del norte'.  A venezuelan guy M (21 y/o) contacted me and offered his services for 100 kCOP. Grindr mentioned that he was one meter away, still it took us ten minutes to find eachother. Since we didn't want to lose time, we asked a taxi driver to bring us to a motel.  We ended up in a motel called princess. 60 kCOP for a nice room for 3 hours.  M is what they call a 'lampiño' over here,  he shaves all body hair.  He was rather shy in the beginning, but he quickly loosened up and we got along very well.  I took the metro back to Laureles and packed my bags. The following day, I was going to work on my tan in San Andres.

* Barrio Antioquia is currently called barrio Trinidad, but everyone still uses the old name. The streets of this neighbourhood are an open air supermarket for all kinds of drugs, known for having the lowest prices and best quality in Medellin.  

Every time I have some time free for a vacation, I ask myself the main question: go east or go west. Thailand or Colombia. In recent years, I visited Colombia multiple times, while I used to be a frequent visitor of Thailand in the past. 
Both places have advantages and disadvantages, but Colombia has me hooked lately. 
Let's be honest, Thailand is easier. You walk into a gogo bar or massage place and make a selection from the menu.
In Colombia, it is more of a hunt, there are less easy options, at least if you have the same taste for boys as I do.
But that hunt has its rewards. I met some very handsome and friendly guys.
Contrary to the Thai 'you cum, I go', the mentality in Colombia is different in my opinion.
It's more relaxed, the concept of 'short time / long time' doesn't really exist (although the 'professionals ' often bill by the hour) and costs are moderate.
I like manly twinks & 'boys next door', 18 to 24 y/o.  I don't mind if they are a bit rough around the edges. Let's say the Dui's, Folk's or Nine's from NIce Boys bar in Pattaya a couple years ago.
Since I'm top only, they should preferably be able to bottom. 
 
Preparing the trip:
My plan was to visit Medellin, San Andres, Cucuta & Bucaramanga.  Medellin is always a great city to visit with plenty of things to do.  San Andres is the perfect Carribean bounty island: palm trees, white sand beaches and the clear blue sea (and noisy Colombians & garbage). Cucuta, because it's still the world capital of webcam studios and finally Bucaramanga for adventure sports, trekking and cute university boys.
In most of these places, I had contacts from previous trips.  I also got a couple new whatsapp numbers of webcam models who were interested in meeting (how to contact webcam boys).
I used grindr with bluestacks on my computer to spoof my location to the various cities I was going to visit. I started doing that one week in advance. Around 50% of contacts on grindr were free, the others requested money. I still count a meeting with a boy as 'free' when I only have to pay transport, drinks or food.  
I included a small vocabulary for grindr in Colombia in this post, since their language is often not obvious for us. 
Basic knowledge of spanish is very important if you want to meet the guys. 
The coming days, I will post about the different cities that I visited and my activities.
General notes: 
Money
Cash is king in Colombia, at least if you don't shop or dine in expensive places.  Davivienda ATM is still free and you can get up to 2 million COP (altough never accept the conversion rate). BBVA isn't free anymore. If I mention prices in this report, it will be in Colombian pesos (COP). 
At the time of my trip, 1 USD was equal to 4000 pesos (= 4 kCOP). 
Domestic flights
Even after the demise of viva airlines, domestic flights remain cheap. Except for the flight to San Andres, I paid less than 50$ / flight. 
Taxis
I didn't have luck with taxis this time. I use the uber, easytaxi, indrive and didi app. 
Uber is the most expensive, but drivers seem to be more reliable than on the other apps. It's not available  in Cucuta or Bucaramanga. 
Indrive is the most popular app. If you can't find a taxi on one of the other apps, there's a big chance that you will find one on indrive. 
The following happened with indrive drivers (although in honestly, almost all oher indrivers were nice guys/gals who provided an excellent service):
In Medellin, my indriver (a yellow taxi), asked me if I was interested in candy (dulces).  When I didn't react, he showed me his candy store. Perico (cocaine), tusi (pink drug, combination of cocaine, ketamine & misc, very popular amongst the young crowd), poppers and weed.  He looked like he couldn't stay off his own merchandise, so I asked him to stop the car. One star review (asking 25 kCOP for one gram of perico is outrageous).  In Cucuta, my indriver had a nasty conversation on the phone with his girlfriend/wife. Something about another girl, although I didn't understand everything.  He told me he had an emergency situation and asked me to get out of the car in an unsafe area at night.  Luckily, another driver picked me up soon afterwards, while I still had my phone, wallet and clothes. One star review.   In Bucaramanga, my indriver had a nastly conversation with an annoying beggar at a traffic light. When things got heated, he pulled out a gun from beneath his seat and waved it at the beggar, before driving off through the red light. Two stars review (bueno, he did bring me to my destination).  Always remember to soflty close the doors of cars in Colombia, especially with that last driver in mind.  Car doors are not the same quality as in the USA or Europe and it's the number one frustration of taxi drivers in Colombia (gringos slamming the door).

Spanish is a relatively easy language, however, the slang from different countries even in the same country by region, vary so much in meanings....🙄

I had huge fun with Grindr recently in New York.

In the past I have always gone through escorts rather than Grindr because I imagined Grindr was a nasty judgemental world where young guys wouldn't give any thought to hooking up with a 50 something daddy. But boy did this experience prove me wrong, although I suspect the pics of my Venezuelan stud's huge dick and hot body was the magnet that brought them over to start with.

Neither of the twinks asked for or expected any payment, just a good time.

Anyway, it turned out to be legit one of the hottest nights I've ever had! Will definitely be trying this tactic in the future, i.e. pairing up with a hot score to attract younger guys on Grindr looking for a daddy experience. 

So I met a cute young man at a grocery store (in Manhattan @Lucky) on Sunday. It was by far my most random discovery I have had. Was delighted to find myself in line behind him on the way out and was discreetly checking him out. He looked like he had just rolled out of bed, hair still rumpled, grabbed some running shorts (yum!) and headed to the store for essentials. 
And he ran into trouble trying to pay with his phone...did not have his wallet with him and technology failed him. He was flustered and embarrassed and looking all adorable. He was about to give up and leave (can't have that!) so I stepped in and paid for his groceries.  He protested but I just said "Damn banks, they never get it right - it's totally fine, happens to all of us". He thanked me profusely and left. And was waiting for me outside. He was delicious! 😉

I have found the Southern Islands best for meeting Pinoy guys for sex and companionship. I have had no problems over 15 years meeting guys in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and other places there. I am a Daddy, did most of my visits when I was 65 to 75. I am now 81. I mostly met guys using Romeo then maintained contact using Facebook or Skype. Now I understand Grinder and Whatsup or the Chat Apps. Traveling places, even between islands is easy. Many flights on Cebu Pacific Air, USD20 to USD35 each way. And Air-Con Buses are available for USD6 to USD10. Ferries are also avaiable between all the main Cities, but take much longer. I have never attempted to drive myself in the PH. I stay in better hotels or in a Condo rented on AirBnB. The cost per night is usually USD45 to USD55. However I know good places are available at USD30 to USD35. I find eating out is quite reasonable. You can eat at McD for USD5 and a very nice restaurant is usually USD30 to USD40 for two persons.
I have not found any good Pick-up Bars in the PH. Tried the ones in Manila years ago and nothing began happening until 1am. And drinks were expensive. There are some Macho Dancer and Massage but I never found them anything like in Thailand. Most Cities have several good Clubs or Discos. Again they do not get started untill after 10pm and go LATE!! Mainly you should plan to take 1 or 4-5 guys to the Club, buying a Bottle and Mixers, and dancing the night away!!!
Over the years I have made many great friends from the PH. I meet them each trip. And help them money-wise. But it is not like in Thailand where the guys expect a stated Fee for Service. I guess for me it is more like having a "son" rather than a "boy friend". But AGAIN PH guys are looking for a long-term relationship and will raise the possibility of marriage...
SO go to the South!! You can expect to meet guys before your trip or just have hooks ups while you are there. ENJOY!!!

My partner doesn't care that I hire, as long as it isn't in the house. She knew I was gay when I married her. But, she's my best friend, and I'd be lost without her. All relationships are compromise, that was part of ours.  We're coming up on 30 years, so it works for us.

I have been wanting to write about my crazy adventures in Brazil. Because for the better part of the past year I have been living in Rio working remote. It’s been a life changing experience. Once I broke free of the GP scene (be careful it’s a trap). I discovered a whole new world!

Also because I’m a young black man and I’m accompanied by other black Brazilians I never don’t feel safe.  
It’s been amazing getting to know people and really finding my place in the city. The experience of a younger bisexual black American man is a unique one. And it has gotten meinto some amazing situations. There are also some amazing parties outside the favelas gringos don’t go to. Park Bar in Lagoa on Wednesday night!

Recently, in our porn forum, I have had over 40 DMCA requests to remove images. These were sent to both me and the host. I am complying with these requests. It is also quite problematic as images cannot be on the site that copyrighted. We remove any we see that are copyrighted but it is a massive undertaking. Regretfully, we are removing the entire porn photo section from the site. I know that some of you love this area and visit daily to see the massive amount of sexy guys. However, I am not willing to be sued based on these images.
As the site is also slow at times, the site will be merging with another site called gayguides.com.  This will allow a broader base of membership with guys who have similar interests. Most of the gay guides members are experienced travelers to Asia. Most of the ones for boytoy are more experienced in South America and Europe. A couple of years back, the gaythailand site merged into gayguides and soon other sites will be merged to create a more active forum.
Since the beginning of this site, originally maleescortreview.com and then boytoy.com, members have been loyal and provided great discussions of escorts and places to travel to find great guys. I hope that this continues. There is nothing anyone needs to do on gayguides right now. In several days, the merge will happen and your login for boytoy will work on the other site.
Currently, we are removing all names from members who have never posted on boytoy (over 30,000) and people who have not logged in for several years. This will help us when we merge the two forums into one. Part of these are already removed but the process removed about 200 per hour.
The boytoy domain name will point to gayguides.com for several months to ensure all members that are active know where the site is.
Transitions are always hard and tough and no one likes change. For me, this was a hard decision, but one that will be easier for me to manage and maintain.
