The simplest thing, I find, top John is to just buy a prepaid chip at a newspaper kiosk , activate with your cpf, and have a friend there top it up periodically at a pharmacy. I leave my Brazil phone with him, but that is not even necessary.  Now, I don't live in the USA and any international plan available to me sucks.

I have never stayed on an airbnb in SP, so take it with a grain of salt, but my favorite neighborhoods are:
 
Pinheiros (near Fradique Coutinho or Oscar Freire subway)
Jardins near Avenida Paulista
Itaim near Avenida Faria Lima is a fancy neighborhood but it is very business oriented, which I do not particularly like

On a related topic, many times in Brazil or elsewhere, when using a foreign credit card, the terminal machine will offer to "convert" the transaction from BRL to USD and charge you in USD instead (or presumably CAD/EUR etc depending on where your card was issued). Be aware that the offered conversion rate is usually terrible and much worse than if you decline and have your own bank do the conversion.

Hey there I'm just getting to Rio after several days in Sao Paulo. I enjoyed myself. I went Friday and Saturday evening and there were lots of boys. I will say you will get your steps in as it 4 stories and it was crowded in the area for the show, but everything is new.
 
Also the new fragata will be opening when you are there so I would consider it.

For sightseeing in São Paulo look into the free walk tours they give you a great overview of things like Batman alley, via Magdalena, soccer museum, masp, itau cultural center, ims, Japan house 
head over to Liberdade for a wonderful Japanese experience! Large market on Sundays!

I’ll be honest if it’s your first trip to Brazil I would stick to sex in the saunas or love motels. definitely do dinner with a garado but taking it back to your place man may not be the right move. All about your comfort zone.
