Trip report - Koh Chang - 15Jan2024 - 18Jan2024
siriusBE replied to bkkmfj2648's topic in Gay Thailand
Chivapuri Beach Resort is quite a remote place. It's a very nice resort, clean, nice beach and a fast stable internet (important to me as a digital nomad). Not the cheapest one though. The hotel's restaurant is good and there are some small restaurants in the neighborhood , but that's it. So, if you enjoy a diverse selection of restaurants and bars then I fear this is not the right place for you. But you can compensate for this to a certain extent by having your own car. -
Trip report - Koh Chang - 15Jan2024 - 18Jan2024

Thanks a lot for the report. I stayed on Koh Chang last week (in the very south, Chivapuri Beach Resort) and liked it very much. having your own car is great. The ferry for the car is only 120. -
Good old days. I really miss the Babylon (the old one at the beginning of the road, now an apartment house and of course the new Babylon). The Pinnacle had a quite high gay factor during those days. From time to time I still book Pinnacle the have a confirmed homebase from where I do some trips around BKK and Hua Hin because it's so cheap. Pinnacle is a bit ran down nowadays, but still ok for that purpose. I had never the impression of a hippy ghetto though.

Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries on this planet. But a short time is normally in the range of 150-300 Swiss franks (160-320 Euro or 170-340$). If I hear prices like 8k in TH then all I can do is shake my head. Don't take that as offensive, everybody can do with his money what he likes to do. But this boy earns so much money in one night that his farming family in Isan has to work for a whole month. His attractiveness will fade at some point and then he will find it difficult to lead a normal life. As I said, please don't take this as a reproach, just random thinking 😉

I probably had the same Mike driver today from Jomtien to Koh Chang pier. She didn't have enough cash for the gas so I had to pay her the transfer at the gas station. Otherwise she was ok...

Traveling, renovate my house, rebuild my old motorcycles, learn languages like Spanish, workout, hiking, cooking for friends, gardening... during work, I was often too exhausted to get things done, even if I had had time to do so. Not necessarily Thailand related, I know.

Many of the boys around Pattaya are Cambodians or from Laos. So, the problem may simply be a lack of local knowledge (Applies of course to boys from Isan etc)

In retirement, I have the time to do things that I never had time for when I was working. 😉

I like this thread, it covers what's on my mind at the moment. I'm taking early retirement this February and I'm thinking a lot about what to do next. I don't think I could be in Jomtien for more than a few weeks. I'm an engineer and I also have a part-time mandate that I can do remotely. Nevertheless, I am relatively sure that I will get bored over time. I would probably become lethargic and an alcoholic over time. Even having fun with boys would probably get boring 🙂 . I will probably do it in such a way that I will escape the beautiful but cold Switzerland for about 3 - 4 months, travel around Thailand a bit and then stay in a rather quiet place like Hua Hin. Of course with a detour to BKK and Pattaya from time to time🙂 In two days in Jomtien... I'm looking forward to it

Aquarius Gay Guesthouse & Sauna in Phuket
siriusBE replied to cuervoanderson's topic in Gay Thailand
To be honest, that was just before COVID started. So things hopefully have changed. The pictures from the rooms look promising and if they also renovate the sauna in a similar way then I would give them another try for sure. But this time, I am on the other side of the gulf... Jomtien and Koh Chang 🙂 -
Still valid.... maybe 1-2 hrs earlier

Aquarius Gay Guesthouse & Sauna in Phuket
siriusBE replied to cuervoanderson's topic in Gay Thailand
I cannot judge the guesthouse, but I hope it's in a better shape than the sauna they run on the same premise. That was quite worn down the last time I was there -
I love Sansuk. Even the owner is nice, friendly and cute (For my taste). Had two encounters with him on one of the upper floors 😉

First-timer: confused about how massages work
siriusBE replied to newtobangkok123's topic in Gay Thailand
Well said Forky. Last year I spent a few days in Jomitien (after a stay in Vietnam). On the way from the beach to the Zing Hotel, you inevitably pass Soda- and Foxy Smile Massage. Most of the people at Foxy were quite aggressive, some stood up and wanted to drag me into the establishment, whereas at Soda there was a relaxed atmosphere and people smiled at you (yes, some boy looked at their cell phones there too, but I understand that too, it's boring to sit outside all evening waiting for customers). Foxy was therefore never an issue for me... but you mileage may vary. -
Great report, thank you daydreamer. I will do almost the same in two weeks (Some days Jomtien at Zing and then Koh Chang). But I have a bungalow in the south of the island. I will probably rent a motorbike and will visit various places as I have done on Samui. Enjoy your further stay!

I will be in Thailand from mid-January to mid-February 24, a few days of which I will be in Jomtien/Pattaya. The last days, I've been using fake locations on my phone to fake my location in Jomtien via Grindr and HeeSay (former Blued) apps just for fun and to check the market. The messages from guys were overwhelming, coming in every second. I realized that most of them are MB's (Which is ok for me ,-) ). I am wondering if there is an interest here in the forum to exchange information about Grindr/Blued users like it has been done before here with guys from bars and massage salons etc? So I think about a kind of reputation list for users on Grindr/Blued(HeeSay) apps where you can share your experiences about those guys. Of course, I know that everyone has his own idea of a great experience with a boy and the whole thing also has a privacy aspect (for the boy as well as for you), but maybe there is still a demand of exchanging Grindr/Blued experiences here? Any Thoughts?

Maybe a bit out of you walking range... I spent many times in Pinnacle Lumpini (You can book it through Agoda, but not via booking.com), but it's just one station from Saladeng via subway. I spent many times there because it was in walking distance to Babylon (RIP). The rooms are still ok, the breakfast is still surprisingly good and the clientele is still 30% gay (CN, TW, SG and US/Europeans). I also booked it for my 2024 trip, because is so affordable. Even I already know that I will not stay there for most of the time, it's good to have a home base where you can come back at any time if you do spontaneous trips. Probably not what you are looking for, but just wanted to mentioned it anyway.

Thank's guys for your suggestions! I will consider Mike. I don't mind to spend some Baht more to get a safe and reliable trip.

The last time I was in TH I used UBER quite often (also for longer distances like BKK-> Pattaya). But Uber left TH (I heard some rumors why, but still not sure about that). So, what can you recommend as a transport service a la Uber. I heard from Grab, Gojek and Bolt... but have no idea what I should take for my rides (BKK -> Pattaya and Pattaya -> Ferry to Kho Chang). Thanks guys!

Thank guys! I booked Chivapuri Beach Resort in the south now. More quiet (That's what I need right now after some troublesome months). Stopping @ Jomtien on the way to Kho Chang though 😉

Hi One of my first posting here (IMHO). I will stay in Thailand in the time frame of mid January to mid February. Can somebody recommend a hotel/resort on Koh Chang (Not necessarily gay)? Should be at the beach and please not crowed by Russians (Sorry, I am not a racist but I had my experiences in the past). I know, Kho Chang is not famous for gay live, but maybe you know some gay bars/massage salon etc (Not so important because I will also spent some day in Jomtien)? Or even another place for relaxing at a nice an maybe calm beach? Thanks a lot for your help!

I stayed the last few days at Zing. Not really what you are asking for, but my impression was, that there is enough privacy.

http://www.babylonbangkok.com does not respond. Is Babylon closed? That would be extremely sad
