I don’t alway go to this forum to post (too much life to live), but on some rare downtime I try to be as helpful as possible to new travelers, as I have gotten valuable advice on the world from like-minded people on here. My opinion: too much hassle to get your own SIM card with just a short trip. It’d be much easier to get GoogleFi, or if you have certain plans with AT&T, you get free roaming in Latin America, including Brazil.
Chili Peppers in São Paulo is a good option. You will have no problems getting laid there as they cater to all types. You probably won’t encounter the adonises of the GP saunas tho if you are not one yourself (as it is not a pay for play sauna), but it is a fun distraction regardless. Just be careful, it is in a sketchy neighborhood. Don’t pull out your cell after getting off the Uber, and call the Uber in the waiting area in the sauna till it arrives.

Hi guys
Will be visiting Brazil next week. Have read most of the comments  in the forum but still have a few questions about sauna Lagoa. I definitely plan to sample the garotos at the sauna but have a thing for strippers as well and the ones I’ve seen performing at Lagoa are hot! Day 0
 
After some grueling and stressful months dealing with job responsibilities and the current state of the world the day has finally come to pack up a suitcase and be on my way to sunnier shores. 
 
On the itinerary are lots of sunny days and hopefully even more sinful nights with a day or two of work in the São Paulo offices of the local branch of my employer thrown in.
 
I am writing this report mainly for two reasons. Firstly I have been an avid reader of this forum for a long time and the tantalizing escapades from prolific members have always fascinated and entertained me. Consider this my small contribution to the chorus and may it inspire other currently silent readers to go on their own trips and write their own reports. 
Secondly I am writing this report as I tend to be a person that overthinks a lot and getting stuck in negative first person narratives has long been a toxic trait of mine. On top of that I build up expectations of things and scenarios in my head to a degree that reality can never fulfill leading to inevitable disappointment. My hope is by recording my experiences in this public and yet anonymous way I can step out of these patterns, live in the moment more and use my writing as a place for reflection. 
 
But enough of the deep shit for now and let’s talk about the trip preparations. 
 
Back in January this year KLM and Air France offered business class flights from my base in Europe over Paris to Rio at about 1200€ that was just twice as much than the Economy rate. I didn’t hesitate long before pulling the trigger setting me up for about three weeks in Brazil to live out these fantasies I have been carrying around for so long. 
Since I am newbie I decided to make it easy on myself and booked a room at a nice hotel close to the beach in Ipanema for the first week instead of chancing an airbnb stay. Afterwards I initially planned to hit Iguacu Falls but helpful members of this board recommended it for another time due to low water levels at the moment. Heeding their advice I am probably going to stay a couple days on Ilha Grande instead before heading to São Paulo for mostly work and then finally returning to Rio for a bit before flying back home. 
 
In these weeks I plan to hit up both saunas in Rio and the one in São Paulo for some fun, do some sightseeing and just relax as much as I can. And maybe if I hit it off with someone in Rio I might offer them to accompany me to Ilha Grande, though I understand that is not recommend MO for first timers.

I’ve got a debt of gratitude to all my fellow forum posters.   The knowledge and tales you’ve shared have really been helpful.     I’ll try not to bore you with unnecessary details but I’d like to share my experience in this first trip to Brazil 
 To start, I’m glad I even got here.   With omicron seemingly everywhere I was concerned about getting a negative test for the flight.   Equally concerning is traveling with so many flight cancellations left and right.    To recap what others have said, I needed proof of vaccine, a negative Covid test within 72 hours (PCR test) or an antigen test within 24 hours, a health document filled out and printed within 24 hours as well.     The entire process was smooth on American Airlines part and when I arrived at passport control in Rio he just causally glanced at my vaccine card but didn’t ask for any other documents.   
 
I haven’t traveled internationally in a couple of years and I feel rusty.   I didn’t account for my flight arriving at 730 am and my Airbnb wouldn’t be ready till 3pm.   So I ended up booking a hotel room in Copacabana.   I should have booked the entire previous day to ensure my room was ready.  But it’s all good.    I took Uber from the airport.   One curiosity I’ve had to learn (at least from the airport context) is communication with your driver prior to pickup.   They need confirmation or something via text.   There was miscommunication and I had a few drivers drop the transaction until a lovely lady picked me up.   Uber prices are cheap so I went “upscale” and booked Uber black because it was apparent the moment I exited the doors that winter was behind me and I needed air conditioning.    For what it’s worth my Uber black car was just a non old Honda Civic.  Perfectly capable and acceptable for the price though.  
 
Despite the relatively mild temps, the humidity here is killing me.  It will take a few days to adjust to the weather.  But it feels good to be back in a real city.  The vibe on the street at first appears to be really relaxed and chill.   And my god, Every third guy is my type of guy.   Splitting my time between working in Alaska and holidays at home in Ohio with my family, I encounter very few gay guys and very few that are my type.
