The bombing was an isolated incident and I don't think it will stop tourism for the long term. I have spoken to at least 20 people there now and all feel perfectly safe. I had 2 friends from USA in Thailand when the bombing happened and they felt safe as well. Things like this can happen anywhere in the world and most people know this. Thailand does not have the reputation for violence against foreigners. That said, I do think this Junta has hurt tourism and will make it much worst before it gets better.

It is good to hear that Lucky is traveling and sharing his good fortunes with the world. I hope that he is able to get to Thailand some time and that Lurker will be able to report back to us on whether or not he enjoyed that trip or felt safe. Although, I do know the answer to that. Everyone that goes to Thailand feels safe. I have yet to have anyone tell me otherwise. Lurker, thanks for the report. We all wish Lucky well in his travels and adventures. Lucky, thanks for the report. But, as you know, we have some to expect a few photos with Brazil trip reports. Got anything more for us?

Thailand's motion picture association has selected a gay-themed, coming-of-age drama, "How to Win at Checkers (Every Time)," as an entry for the foreign-language category at the Academy Awards. The movie is about an 11-year-old boy named Ek being raised by his gay, older brother in a poor Bangkok suburb. Ek tries to help his brother dodge the country's military draft lottery in the film, which touches on corruption, discrimination and social status in Thai society — and was released while a military government is running the country. The film "has successfully been able to raise issues that people in Thailand don't openly talk about," said Weerasak Kowsurat, secretary-general of the National Federation of Thai Motion Picture and Content Associations. An 8-person committee from the federation chose the film from among 59 contenders on Tuesday and submitted it Thursday as its selection for the Oscars foreign-language category, Weerasak said. http://www.denverpost.com/ci_28869356/thailand-names-gay-themed-drama-oscar-contender

Totally agree. I don't think the site is fully legit but I do think it is trying and it improves year by year. -

I have watched the Rio Times since it started. It was done with a Word Press Theme and initially had all re-written articles from other sources. It has grown a great deal. Please feel free to post any links to any site you feel relevant. It is good information for us all. -
Great report and great photos. Thank you! I have been given an opportunity to spend 6 months in Argentina in 2016 and I have not decided yet. Did you feel safe?

Can you tell us what you think of the gay scene in Buenos Aires? Does it compare to Rio? -

I like this series. I also like Dylan. Teen Wolf is a must see as he and Tyler are great together and they have fun story lines.

Altarosas - Wow, a great sauna. But, a pain in the ass to get to. -
Digging up the dead? Nope. But, all of your IP's are always from the same place. Maybe, just maybe you have a neighbor that also likes the site. But, you always give yourself away pretty quickly. As soon as I saw your post I wondered why anyone would respond that way. In less than 5 seconds, I knew it was you.

Thank you. Much appreciated. Why? Well, I use to get all of my future movie possibilities from small arts type cinemas that are found in larger cities in USA. They tend to showcase movies and films that are not going to be mass marketed. As I can't go there now, I find other ways to find the movies. But, I guess you were just trying to get a reaction rather than contribute. Right Matrix AKA ChgoBoy?

I grew up reading a few books but Jackie Collins books were always in my home as my mother read them. I then read them. I enjoyed them.

Having not been in a big USA city for a few years, are there some good movies that are gay themed that are out on video that I should watch?

Not everyone in the world has been through a McDonald's Drive In. Yesterday, I was in Dubai and had to be outside the city for a bit and hired a driver for the day. He was good and spoke perfect English. I was late and needed to get back to my hotel and told him to go to McDonald's and asked him to go through the Drive Thru. He did but he did not stop at the speaker and tried to proceed to the window. I told him to go back and he did and we ordered. He was mesmerized by the talking speaker and kept asking if they could hear him. I bought him dinner as well. When we got our food, he seemed to really enjoy eating inside the car.

OneFinger, it is still on the site but in a place that is not available to anyone to see without top secret clearance.

Deleting it means it is gone forever. Not letting it stand means I can look back at it from time to time and laugh a bit.
-
Well, we didn't delete it. But, the original poster of the thread deleted his account shortly after the posts in that thread. I see no need to let stand a post that is nasty when the original poster removed himself from the site as well.

I love Cutey and Beauty. For those that have not heard of it, it is a hair shop with massage and manicure / pedicure that is done by cute sexy guys. I have been going since my first trip and still enjoy it.

Welcome back to the Land of Smiles. I know you have a smile on your face just from being there. Have a great time!

Bragging is a word that has been used on this site for years based on trip reports and people staying in nice resorts or hotels. If a member stays in a nice place or eats at a nice restaurant, I don't consider it bragging but telling where they stay and their experience. We all have different experiences and different expectations of a trip. I enjoy hearing the spectrum of experiences. Suspicion based on someone staying in a nice place or eating in a nice restaurant or even flying business class, says much more about the person being suspicious then it does about the person having the experience. IMHO

I like nice places and good food and do not do this to impress anyone, including myself. I love myself more than anyone but even I do not need to impress myself. I have worked hard in my life to stay in order to stay in nice places and I am not impressed by those that have not worked as hard as me and are lazy and can’t afford the nice places I stay. God did not create us all equal. He created some of us with the intelligence to rise to the 1 percent and he created the others to stay in the cheap and dirty places when they travel. Don’t be upset with those of us who God has said we should stay in beautiful resorts. If you want that to be you, just work harder and don’t be lazy. I’m sure you would be able one day to afford the nice things in life too. (I believe none of what I posted above. But, I also think total bullshit that someone stays in nice places to impress others)

I have seen many news stories on this but I like Steven's article the best. http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/rentboy-com-bust-im-an-escort-not-a-terrorist-so-get-out-of-my-pants/
