April 15 Trivia for Americans
That was 1913 Bob. However an income tax was passed in 1861 called the revenue tax. This was repealed 10 yrs later. This was one of several taxes passed during Lincoln's term of office, and most of these taxes were based on income and a sliding scale. The supreme court upheld the income tax but ruled that a flat tax passed in 1864 was illegal. Therefore it is proper to call Lincoln the father of the income tax. Not sure what Koko wants but the only link I see is Lincoln himself..

Perfect weather for curling up around the fireplace. Something one does not get to do in Thailand. If that doesn't work ever think of moving to Florida or Arizona?

THOUGHTS JUST FOR FUN ( NO MALICE INTENDED )
I found the original post intelligent, wry and entertaining. There is enough truth here to make this an appropriate stereotype for many Thai young men, but like all stereotypes, it is not true for all Thai boys. Even in the USA there are younger men who like older without money being the main rationale behind the attraction. Over the years I have met some of these couples and can say there is more then one reason for some younger men liking older. Thailand is no different, and while financial security may play a bigger role here, it is still not the only role, nor the only reason while some older men do find younger men who are really happy with the relationship and genuinely care for the older man.

Continuing Political Non-Commentary
Not quite. In the USA's 240 years no one has ever called for less democracy. Our conservative groups seem more interested in not extended the democracy we have, rather then ending it.

"Standing Up for Less Democracy"
Even the NYT is being too indirect when talking about the real problem. I am referring to that big elephant in the room that no one can say anything about.

RIP Nelson Mandela
The man was one of the greatest leaders of any country, and deserves all the recognition and accolades that came his way. I applaud what he did for civil rights and racism in South Africa. However, I am personally touched by his the courage he showed with his stand on gay rights and gay marriage. Under his leadership, the constitution protects gays and he pushed for gay marriage which became law in 2009 in South Africa. My favorite quote is: "I am not truly free if I am taking away someone else’s freedom, just as surely as I am not free when my freedom is taken from me. The oppressed and the oppressor alike are robbed of their humanity."

IMpresions from November 2013 trip-flight, hotels, BKK transport, money & regular tips
II liked Cafe Royal too, but think it was a far better place under its late manager. I have read on other web sites that the noise has gotten worse in boys town. If true, that would be a turn off.

Happy Thanksgiving
We booked a table for eight, reservations required 550++ at the Marco polo in the hotel Centara Dungtawan in Chiang Mai. They were to serve buffet style from 1800 to 2200 and we arrived at 1900. Would you believe they were out of turkey. Only in Thailand. I hope everyone else had a Thankgiving that went well, but next year I am eaitng Thanksgiving n Seattle.

I Like thed host, the location, the rooms, and the price at Om Yim, but found the narrow stairs a big draw back. Well, no place is perfect but I do like elevators.

As a capitalist American, I know that if you got it, you should flaunt it. . Besides that this is our normal gym wear. Boy is 31, and we will soon be married in the USA.

Every time I have flown out of Seattle you always have two choices when they are serving food. One dish is usually Western and the other Asian.
