I’ve landed in the mountains. After living like a monk with no bedroom action all week in Koh Samui, I’m definitely planning to partake in some fun here in Chiang Mai. I know the opportunities will be far fewer than Bangkok but after a week of beaches, temples and elephants on Koh Samui, I’m down for some fun. The air quality in Chiang Mai has always suffered in the run up to Songkran due to farmers setting fire to the stubble left by their crops to clear the land. Not in Thailand now (and for many months) but some days ago I have been aware of a new bar in Chiang Mai through their Facebook page (thanks to Meta algorithm). Its name : Doi Khaeng Bar - คอยแข็งบาร์ :- probably no pun intended with the word แข็ง - khaeng (obviously rising tone) which means hard 😉 This is a bar and restaurant located in the north part of town close to Adams Apple Bar (about 350 m far) in the middle of a small entertainment area named Wiang Bua Plaza ; GPS 18.805465658, 98.981301741. Has anyone flown from any viet airport to chiang mai via BKK or DMK ? Is there direct transit when arriving, with imigration in chiang? Or will I need to deal with imig and luggage in BKK/DMK ?

Apologies if this is old news for some but the popular - at least it was for many years, the more so as it was relatively close to the University and the 2-for-1 nights were certainly busy - Chiang Mai sauna House of Male has closed. I'm not sure if it happened last year or earlier. It had moved to new premises in 2021. So it joins so many of Chiang Mai's established gay venues that no longer exist. This isn't a gay issue but I must recommend a visit to the charming village of Maekampong, an hour or so drive from Chiang Mai. My partner arranged this trip for me without explaining anything about it; he knew I'd like it and wanted to surprise me. He did. In short, it is situated in a beautiful, unspoiled and mountainous country and is distinguished by its wooden houses, tiny temple, numerous restaurants and a commitment to eco-tourism. I didn't see many other falang visitors but it is evidently popular with Thais.

It is with sadness that i relay the news of Joe's passing. From England originally but long term resident of Chiang Mai Joe was renowed for his dance moves, quick wit and bucket hats. A regular at Connections Bar, CM 19 and a frequent visitor to Jomtien. RiP

The suspect is believed to have fled the kingdom immediately after the incident. From Bangkok Post Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai has been severely flooded, with rescuers and staff struggling to save jumbos and other animals as all roads to the site have been cut off by floodwater and landslides. The park in Mae Taeng district posted an urgent message on its Facebook page on Friday saying the flooding had worsened and plunged it into a critical stage. From Pattaya News On December 29th, 2023, Mr. Thotsapon Puanudom, the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, officially initiated a new bus line in Chiang Mai by Regional Transit Corporation (RTC) Co Ltd., to enhance the efficiency of Chiang Mai public transportation. The new bus line number 24 starts at Chiang Mai International Airport and has bus stops at well-known tourist destinations such as One Nimman, Chang Phueak Gate, Tha Phae Gate, Flower Market, Chiang Mai Gate, and Central Chiang Mai Airport. The bus services are available from 8 AM to 9 PM with transport fares of 30 baht for Thais and foreigners, and 20 baht for students throughout the line.

From The Thaiger Chiang Mai Airport is set to table its expansion proposal to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin during his scheduled visit this weekend. The airport’s director, Wijit Kaewsaitiam, revealed that the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) is set to spearhead the construction of the terminal’s first phase.
