don't ask me - ask fountainhall, he is the one that started this sidetrack by trying to establish a relationship between my posts here and my posts on your forum now I know you don't allow discussion of your policies in the forum, and you know you don't allow discussion of your policies in the forum - perhaps you could explain it to fountainhall? bkkguy

from "Copyright Basics" published by the US Copyright Office, p3 http://www.copyright...ircs/circ01.pdf or read any of their FAQs and it is obvious that they at least consider photographs to be covered by copyright as does Kodak, the UK Copyright Office http://www.kodak.com...copyright.shtml http://www.copyright...raphy_copyright or try a quick google search on "copyright law and photographs" bkkguy

so the fact that gb, who in posts here and on his own forum has said that he supports my ideas on how to quote from news sources yet does not enforce these rules on his own forum and does not tolerate criticism of this on his forum makes me a hypocrite and not him? bkkguy
-
I post under the name bkkguy on a number of forums - including gaybuttonthai.com - but many of them totally unrelated to gay life in Thailand, forgive me if I don't inappropriately discuss exactly the same issues on every forum I visit! gaybutton makes his moderation rules very clear - if you don't understand why I would not bother discussing some issues on his forum then don't blame me for your limited intellectual abilities for example gb likes to live in Pattaya so does not like people referring to Pattaya as "Shitsville by the sea" so this in not allowed in his forum! I have a life so I am not going to try to analyse your posts to all the forums you post to and you really want to dispute the validity of my quote that "if you produce an original work it is covered by copyright” based on whatever shit you want to post here? get a life! bkkguy
-
all original works are protected by copyright in most countries unless explicitly placed in the public domain for at least two of the images posted here by buckbee I would be 99.99% sure they were posted without permission of the copyright owner I note that buckbee still has not answered the simple question as to whether he had permission from the copyright owner to post the images! I also note that one of the images has been silently removed - has someone had a prick of conscience? perhaps you should read up a bit more on how copyright works you do not need to claim copyright or register a work as copyright, if you produce an original work it is covered by copyright and unlike trademark law, if you do not actively defend your claim to copyright you do not lose your rights! ah, I see we are back to "sophisticated repartee" that I don't seem to understand very well! bkkguy

the http://asiaguys.net/site-info page on your web site - which to me looks like you have copied from some other web site and only minimally edited - says "All images on this site are re-produced or purchased from other sites or uploaded by members." which is confusing at best, and you make a vague credit above to "some blog somewhere" so I am curious as to what permissions you have obtained from the copyright holders to reproduce images here and on your web site? eg jeans(6) from the e-commerce site Edge of Urge? everyone else here already has me on ignore and the management and moderators here seem to have no idea or no interest in copyright and IP protection so feel free to not respond and continue posting such images here - the right to drool over sexy guys seems to be the highest priority here! bkkguy

this web site is called www.gaythailand.com, a quick Google search on dongtan gay beach returns more than 300,000 results in 40 seconds and you seriously expect me to accept that it is only because of my "fertile imagination" and my irresponsible use of the the term "gay beach" that there is any prospect of anyone who stumbles on these photos may in any way associate these guys with the gay scene here? and as to my supposedly taken out of context quote about "tacit approval" - are you 100% sure that none of the guys in the photos are actually go-go or host bar workers where tacit approval applies? because I think I can identify at least one of them as a go-go boy if that was allowed and you can quote "no expectation of privacy in a public place" till the cows come home but why do so many falung not want their picture taken at public gay events and so many thai guys at go-go, host and massage venues not want their pics on the venue web site? many people do want to keep some areas of their life private even in "public" places where they only expect to be exposed to "like-minded" people but once the pictures get on the Internet things get out of control - but if you and this site do not see a privacy issue here then fine, you are probably doing nothing wrong as far as the law is concerned and you want double standards? thaiworthy blatantly posts they he wished "someone had the guts to post your picture, bkkguy. Suitable for framing, or just being framed" which I would have thought was defiantly against the Covenant but there has been no reaction from the management, the moderators or other posters here because I am not one of the "pillars" of this forum! and you want more double standards? the Covenant goes out of its way to protect the members of this board and minimally protect the sex workers they associate with but as this thread and the Japan prank thread shows everyone else may or may not be worth considering and if we were having this discussion in a hypothetical pub this is the point where I would "slink back into the darkness" because it should be obvious to both of us that there is no common ground to continue this discussion and you and others here can draw whatever conclusions you want from that! bkkguy
-
according to whose standards - yours? the board's? Jomtien beach society? so again this is what the management here construes as "tacit approval for such information to be made available"? don't ask me about the harm - ask the guys who tell their parents they are waiters at restaurants in Pattaya then are photographed at the gay beach on a site like this! and when was the last time you where at Jomtien gay beach and saw "thousands" of non-waiters and other non-gay residents innocently walking along this stretch of beach? heaven forbid we should attack a forum for a moderator going against its own constitution however I have already addressed this issue with the management but do not expect a much more considered response from them than from you or Thaiworthy! maybe we should just rename this to the Puea Thai web site - double standards seem to be the order of the day! bkkguy
-
so a moderator may be ignoring the privacy rules here and the best you can suggest is to ignore the rules for my picture as well? and let me tell you they would really need a wide angle lens because I have more "guts" than would fit in a standard lens! but pontificate all you like, you still haven't answered the question - while you where drooling over z909's pics did you assume/know permission had been granted or you don't care or it is different for Thai guy pics? and z909 - or the forum managers - is suggesting someone post a picture of me to get me "framed" enough to constitute banning thaiworthy for breach of forum rules? and if the moderators and owners had enough "guts" they would admit they had a problem here! it always surprises me that criticism of the "pillars" of this forum are totally unacceptable but anyone else is fair game! bkkguy

leave it to the experts - Voranai Vanijaka - one of the best commentators in the Bangkok Post, worth reading every Sunday: The things that I'm certain will happen in 2012, Even though I'm sure they won't happen bkkguy

is it just me or does this not sound like the actions of someone who intends to get the model's permission before posting the pictures on the Internet? of course z909 is a moderator here so he would not be knowingly breaching the site Covenant's privacy rules relating to photos so he obviously already knows the guys involved and has their permission or perhaps he - and the management here - considers just being on the gay beach area at Jomtien is "tacit approval for such information to be made available" but obviously I am just being a cynic or too sensitive for doubting that permission has been obtained or that there is a privacy issue involved because the other posters here drooling over the pictures must already be sure that permission was obtained or they don't care and would be just as happy to have their photos being discussed like this in a Thai or straight forum! in which case why do we have such privacy rules here? so fess up Fountainhall, anyone, Thaiworthy, Rogie - do you assume/know approval was obtained or do you not care? or is it different when the pics are cute Thai guys? bkkguy
-
it is the well thought out and considered contributions on such serious issues from such valued participants that really makes reading this forum so worthwhile don't you think? bkkguy
-
perhaps to prevent such abuses the management and moderators could ban the publishing of unverified personal information. perhaps they could add something like this to the Covenant oh wait - that is already in the Covenant, but obviously "n all instances, Gay Thailand management shall be the final arbiter of what constitutes personal information" so I am not in any way trying to suggest that someone may have been asleep at the wheel in allowing the post initially! bkkguy
-
so you can jump to whatever conclusions you want to about my knowledge of the NYSE or Asian stock exchanges but I should have somehow intuited that you "needed cash" and "like CNBC Asia and Bloomberg commentary" and that was the only reason you needed true TV access rather than unjustifiably assuming the more obvious lack of life reasons - forgive me for not cowering in the corner and apologising to "one of most meritable posters on this board" but I think if you and thaiworthy want to get your respective knickers in a such a knot about my post then I think you both need to get a life! again I will leave it to others here to judge how much respect each comment here should get! bkkguy

can't survive without TV for a few hours one morning - perhaps you need to cancel your subscription and get a life rather than trying for a rebate? now if it was your Internet connection I would be right there with you storming the true portals demanding restoration of service bkkguy

given her outstanding success with "For Fun" I would not be holding my breath! meanwhile back on topic, lunching today at one of the new eateries in the still being renovated "downstairs" at United Center I saw two Silom Complex moneybois wandering about checking out a possible new territory! I am still waiting for confirmation from Silom Complex management that they are offering free facelifts to all the moneybois so they will not feel out of place when the re-modelled complex opens. bkkguy

but not without problems - just ask Dave Evans Speedo sues over gay porn sites bkkguy

fortunately most moneybois can't afford an iPhone 4S yet so Siri does not need to learn about dead farm animals and motocy accidents till you start handing out 4S's like candy here :-) but it was a good video! bkkguy

I recently picked up a Turbora stand-alone water filter - plastic, looks like a giant egg, you pour water into the top tank goes through 3-stage filter to bottom tank with tap - the first stage is a ceramic 0.5 micron filter to get rid of disease organisms my tap water in Silom apartment has strong chlorine smell and is sometime quite turbid these days - but after filter no smell, no taste, clear the filter was about 1,200 at HomePro (??) in Wave Place, filters last a year (800 Baht to replace) - beats the hell out of trying to get bottled water all the time! and no installation required! bkkguy

only if you are an Apple fanboi! trust me - my huge shiny silver 2 TB external hard drive may be vibration-free but it is much more satisfying than any sissy little iPhone could ever be, and it is happy to be shoved into places iPhones fear to tread! indeed Apple fanbois quiver in fear when I pull it out at nerdy parties - the Android fanbois are too busy drooling over the Ice Cream Sandwich I have in my pocket, and Mae West just thinks I am just pleased to see her! bkkguy

at least my hard disk will last longer than your new iPhone 4S battery! bkkguy

you want a real practical example? five years ago every Commart/ComTech trade show in Bangkok (and one or two years earlier at the equivalent trade shows in most other countries) most stalls were fighting to offer the lowest price on 16/32/64 MB flash thumb drives. for the last two years most stalls were fighting to offer the lowest price on 320/500 GB traditional external hard disk drives - not SSDs! I have been to every Commart/Comtech for the last six years and a few trade show in Singapore/HK and Australia - where have you been? ultra-portables and netbooks with SSDs rather than systems with traditional hard disks account for what, 2-5% of total computer system sales? according toEE Times if you don't like EE Times try a Google search on SSD vs traditional hard disks just because 21 years ago your father had an esoteric example of a micro-hard disk design that was considered obsolete years ago, and your current (age unknown, price unknown) notebook has a noisy hard disk, I still fail to see how this supports the statement "the demand for hard drives is lessening"? I don't see the point of responding to any other crap on this thread, it is just a waste of time! -
so this is a business that is getting more customers than it can currently handle from the target audiences that it wants to serve and seem to be happy enough with the profit they are currently making and can't or don't want to expand or move and the only problem is that some western visitors - who are not necessarily their target audience anyway - consider it is essential that they have a web site and publish GPS co-ordinates for their location which part of Marketing 101 are some people missing here? bkkguy

what do you mean by "beat"? obviously a pool of resources will never be faster than the physical hardware it is carved out of, but that is not the issue if you are talking about real cloud servers when you compare the hardware cost for building a cloud service to the hardware cost for building all the individual physical servers it replaces the cloud will win hands down on "bang for buck" any day, even at the retail price the cloud pool of resources is sold at if you are outsourcing! when you compare adding extra processing power, memory or disk space on demand as your requirements change to the pool you have been allocated on a cloud service or adding the same to a physical server again the cloud will win hands down for convenience and flexibility any day! of course these days the issue has become quite (dare I say) "clouded" because terms like "cloud computing" have lost most of their real or useful meaning (if they ever had any) because too many people, not all of them Apple fanbois, use "the cloud" for what is really just "storing it on the Internet" - a concept that existed for 20 years or more before the Apple marketing team created iCloud! bkkguy
