Is Thailand shooting itself in the foot with new laws?
paulsf replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
How do you go about the residential address situation when there for a short time. I would like to open a bank account when I get there in December, but I'm only in Pattaya for 6 days. What do the banks require for an address when setting up the account? -
I offed boys twice in Bangkok last month. 2 different clubs, but both fees were 400, but both times the boys wanted at least 1500 for an hour. In Pattaya, the boys were happy with 1000

In Bangkok, I have been staying at the Tarntawan. It's just so easy and close to everything. In Pattaya, I have been staying at the Marriott for the same reason. I can just walk to everything. Sit by the pool all afternoon, little nap before heading out for the evening. It doesn't get much better. (dinner with gaybutton on last trip was great) I am headed back for 10 days between Christmas and New Years and have reservations at the Marriott.

I just returned after being there the last 2 weeks. For me it was hot, but I was on vacation so I wanted it that way. But I just keep remembering my friends in Bangkok complaining that it was too hot for so early in the year.

I just got back from spending the last 2 weekends in Bangkok/Pattaya. While I found it slower on weedays, on the weekends the clubs were packed. But mostly during show times. I did find that the mamasan's were pushing boys on me, more than my last trips. To the point I had to get a little firm and say, leave me alone or I will leave. I will pick a boy, but of my choice and when I want. Your correct in the fact that there is very little interest by the boys. If you make eye contact you will get a smile. I found the hottest boys at Boys Thailand, this trip. (and I think I did help the thai economy) Cant wait till my next trip for New Years

I just came back from doing a tourist boat cruise on the Chao Phraya this afternoon. When we got to the bridge, the tour guide was cutting jokes about the head, like he was in a comedy club. I think the Thais were politely smiling and the Westerners, had no idea what he was taking about.

There's a picture in the Bangkok Post this morning, of the head hanging off the bridge

I'm headed to Bangkok next week and then I'm looking at Brazil sometime in May.

Have your travel patterns changed over the past year?
paulsf replied to TownsendPLocke's topic in The Beer Bar
My travel experiences were pertty good in 2008. I flew just over 150,000 miles. Had no delays of more than an hour. I only missed one upgrade. I've already got about 75,000 miles worth of trips already book for 2009, and hoping my 08 good luck continues. First big trip is to Thailand in February. -
I did walk around Sunee a couple of times, but earlier in the evening, so not a lot going on at that point. Because of my good luck in meeting a boy almost as soon as I arrived, there wasnt really much need to head to that area. Every thing we needed was in Boystown and I was staying in that area. When I come back in Feb. I will explore Sunee a bit more. And I do like Bangkok a lot also. I made a couple of friends that kept me busy most of my stay there.

To follow up on my 2 days in Pattaya. WOW It got off to a great start, when I checked into the Marriott and they upgraded me to a Suite. As has been mentioned, tourism seems to be down and the Marriott was quiet, so I guess I lucked out with the upgrade. The maps were a great help. I didnt realize how close I was to everything. As soon as I started walking around I was right in the middle of boystown. I explored as much as I could in the afternoon and then headed to find fun in the evening. As others have said here, I think Pattaya has to grow on you. It was a little more hectic and conjested than I thought it would be, but as I found my way around was more comfortable. I always seem to have the problem when I travel of finding the most fun on the last night. Well this time it went in my favor. I ventured over to Boys Boys Boys. Was sitting outside having a drink and watching the world go by. Some of the boys were going in and out so they could do their cigarette smoking. Well I wasn't there 10 minutes, and this one boy walked past me and you just know that he's the one...I had him come over and we hit it off pretty good. We went out for late dinner and then back to the hotel ect ect ect...He ended up spending the night and we hung out at the pool the next day. The 2nd night, we decide to pick up an other boy for some fun. I let him do the picking, seeing he would be doing a lot of the work. We went to 3 clubs, but he found the boy he wanted...And I was not dissapointed. Did we have fun??? We just let me say for the first time in all my long life of travels, I needed to have housekeeping in the middle of the night (yes, i was a bit embarressed) I had a great time overall in both Bangkok and Pattaya and I already have reservations made for a return trip in February. Again, thanks for all the suggestions and help. This will be my 3rd trip back to Thailand in a year, so maybe I will get a chance to say hi to some of you person

I was in Bangkok last week and went to B and N 4 times for my 5pm massage. Met a great boy and found it a great way to get the evening off to a great start

I stayed at the Marriott last week. The Cafe closes at 11pm, but there is 24 hour room service.

I'm in Bangkok tonight and just came in from dinner. Most of the clubs have their flashing lights turned off and the music is toned down. But you can still hear it from outside. Otherwise it appears as business as usual.

I am in Bangkok now, headed for Pattaya tomorrow. I was talking to a couple of boys last night and they said the bars and clubs would be closed on Saturday night only. They werent happy because it's a big night. But they again, they werent sure it was only going to be a one night closing either. There does seem to be a bit of confusion here as to what is going to happen over the weekend.

Thanks for all the info, the map is a great help. I wish I had more time to spend relaxing and enjoying your little piece of paradise, but I have a little business in Bangkok at the beginning and end of the week. But figured at least a couple of days is better than nothing.

Thanks for the imput guys. My taste run towards twink. It's sure great to read about the busy beaches as the sun returns in another post. While we dont have all that bad weather here in San Francisco, it was 45 degress this morning. Really looking forward to that beach chair and cocktail

I'm making my second trip to Bangkok and first trip to Pattaya next week. I am only going to have two nights in Pattaya and figure that doesnt leave a lot of time to see much. I was wondering what would be the top couple of places to go in the evening with the intent of finding some company, to bring back to the hotel. (marriott) thanks
-
GT, on your advise, I tried B and N when I was in Bangkok last spring. Well I make a return visit next week and by the end of my trip I'm sure I will be well know at B and N. They had a good selection of boys and I was made to feel vey comfortable.

I'll be arriving in Pattaya on Wednesday the 12th. It will be my first trip there, and it sounds like the first night will get off to quite a bang. And here I thought I would find some company for a nice quiet evening

I'm going to be in Pattaya for the first time in November, for a few days. I have a room at the Marriott Resort and Spa. Does anybody know if there will be issues bringing a boy back to the room? Thanks

I saw it on Flyer Talk yesterday. It hasnt been officially announced, but several people called the Thai office in Bangkok and they said it is gone as of July 1st and they werent taking any more booking. People are re-booking thru LA
