enjoyed reading your posts, will be heading to bangkok next month!

Good luck and have fun! Every time I raise the subject of going back this year my bank account cries and runs away

very nice. I think we've all experienced the discomfort of being the only patron in a bar with all of the boys staring at us hoping that we'll choose them.

It was definitely something I struggled with being a fairly reserved person. It was very confronting to have such blatant hopeful attention focused on me like that.

Thanks for the trip report.

If the mamasan is obstructing your view of the boys, just ask it to move.

Also, some of them seem to have this dumb idea that your main reason for visiting a gogo bar is to have a banal conversation with a mamasan.  Just be prepared to ignore it or ask it to leave.    Also, pre-empt the situation and try to sit where it would be very awkward for a mamasan to sit next to you, or ensure the mamasan cannot sit between you and the boys.

Unless, of course, you really do want a conversation with a mamasan instead of looking at the boys.

As for being the only customer, the worst case is when as the only customer, I order a drink, sit down and then realize none of the boys is my type.

And, of course if this is the extent of our "problems", life is very good indeed !   We are lucky to have the gogo bars.
