A 56-year-old man from Switzerland, who now lives in Thailand, recently spoke to a Thai media about how his life was turned upside down by a Thai woman

The Swiss man, Tony Niko used to make around RM40,000 a month by running a building extension firm in his home country. There he employed 50 people to work in the firm, The Thaiger reported via TMN Cable TV.

During a visit to Thailand, Tony claims he met a woman who would go on to change his life.

According to Tony, he met "the love of his life" while he was visiting the Walking Street, Pattaya

Tony says he spent seven years together with the woman, whose name he said was Leuchakorn. They lived in Rayong, located on the east coast of Thailand.

He claims he bought her a house, a car, and land in Rayong.And when Leuchakorn needed money for her new laundry business, Tony did not hesitate to invest in it.

According to him, his life savings, worth over 3 million, were enough for both of them to last.

After seven years of being together, Tony finally asked the Thai woman to marry him

He believed that they would live a blissful married life and proposed to continue residing in Thailand after his marriage. 

Leuchakorn, however, was reluctant to marry Tony, claiming that she had to work further up north in the country.

Before he realised it, she sold the house and land under her name before vanishing.

It's been three years since the woman disappeared from his life but Tony, still in love, is looking for her till today

Tony, who now battles to make ends meet each day, claims that he still loves her and wants to reunite with her so that they can continue living together.

He no longer has any savings and is forced to live at a temple in Jomtien, south of Pattaya.

According to The Thaiger, he survives by sweeping the grounds and getting help from the locals who are familiar with him.

However, Tony claims that he is happy and still intends to continue living in Thailand

meeting woman on Walking Street , of course it will change one's life, not always as dreamed about or intended but still.......

This is far from a unique story and it happens all the time with guys as well as women, although the older man/younger Thai woman is much more common. 

I suspect he has more problems about to knock on his temple door. Apart from having no work permit and making money by working, he will almost certainly be running afoul of the Immigration laws as regards personal finances.  If/when discovered, he can be turfed out of the country as quickly as he entered.

Taking a financial bath is one thing, but why didn't he leave a million or so in Switzerland? Did he invest his last money in the house and land?

I see this as a case of "SWISS MAN'S LIFE RUINED BY HIS OWN EXTREME STUPIDITY".

There are lots of people on this planet who will readily part a sucker from his money.    People just have to learn when to spend and when to keep their wallet closed, whilst frequently thinking about protecting the downside.

And it's not just foreigners who get scammed.

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested in Phayao on charges of fraud arising from an online romance scam in which a man was conned out of more than 2 million baht over two years.

Nithiwan Ruangthippawan, alias Bai Por, was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court on July 25 for fraud and inputting false information into a computer system that may damage others, said Pol Lt Gen Terapon Kuptanond, the Tourist Police Bureau (TPB) commissioner.

The arrest came after the victim, identified only as Non, filed a complaint with the Phlapphla Chai 2 police station in Bangkok. He said he had fallen victim to a good-looking young woman using the name “Bai Por” on the Line chat application. 

The online relationship lasted for two years, during which the man transferred a total of 2.3 million baht into the woman’s account. However, the pair never met. The man told police that the woman kept making excuses, saying her father was sick, or she was busy with work.

The truth emerged after the man met the young woman whose photo had been used in the profile of Bai Por. She said her name was Nong Gee and that she definitely was not Bai Por, who had chatted with him via Line.

Mr Non then filed the police complaint after learning that he had been swindled. The police investigation subsequently shed light on the real name of Bai Por. By that time, Ms Nithiwan had fled into hiding in Chiang Mai. A police team was sent there to arrest her but she had fled again to Phayao, where officers took her into custody in front of a house on Friday, said Pol Lt Gen Terapon.

During interrogation, police said Ms Nithiwan admitted she had used Nong Gee’s photo for her profile picture. She said she had spent the money transferred by Mr Non for her personal use.
