It is more than normal, but not so much more. From Bangkok Guy's perspective I think the certainty is more valuable than the additional amount. Rightly or wrongly, I also trust the guy. There are also a few signs that something negative has happened, for example his no longer photographing the food in restaurants and his wardrobe beginning to look a little tired (although still cleaned and pressed).
