We are considering doing an Escort of the Year competition. It will be based on escorts on MER. We would love some input on the categories. What suggestions do you have? Any concerns?

maybe some unique categories that have not been done before in other competitions:

1) a category to recognize escorts in smaller markets (smaller cities/towns/rural etc.)

2) regional categories (hard to evaluate escorts you are not familiar with and one region with many clients could skew the results)

3) best forum contributor (a way to recognize escorts we may only be familiar with through their inputs to the forums)

4) best overnight companion, dinner companion, etc.

maybe some statistical awards not based on votes but rather data you can glean from your database...such as escorts that update their pics most often

concerns? voting always has concerns, but if you let everyone know up front voting mechanism it shouldn't be a problem. Do you have something like American Idol, where you can vote as often as you wish? Limit the number of votes...if so, do you restrict by IP address, userid or other?

a couple more thoughts....voting options to consider:

1. have a couple rounds of voting, 1st round nominate up to 3 escorts per category, next round select winner from top 3 nominees

2. use elimination voting.....like 'Survivor' where each week a person is voted out

3. weighted voting...example: xx% for appearance, xx% for performance, etc

I think this is a great idea. I always liked the old Hooboy Escort of the Year beauty contest before Hooboy stopped doing it.

I'd suggest Best Top Escort , Best Bottom Escort, Best Versatile Escort, Best kisser (since it seems to be a favorite thing amongst the masses here), Best Twink Escort, and Best over all Escort.

You might allow each voter to vote for 2-3 escorts in each category because it might be hard to narrow it down. It seemed Hooboy would let you vote for 5 but only had 1 category.

I know some will have some drama with it when some escort starts to get their friends or e-mails former clients to vote, but it is all in fun. Talvin DeMachio is always able to pull votes by e-mailing all registered people on his website and ask them to vote.

I'd suggest that only people registered by a certain date be able to vote, keeps new people from stacking the votes, and also only Escorts registered by a certain date be eligible.

I'm ready let the voting begin. BTW, How many escorts here have the name of Chad? ;-)

You might want to consider limiting voting to escorts who have profiles or reviews on this site. That might eliminate some escorts who can muster votes from their email lists yet havetn't bothered to submit profiles or have their clients submit reviews.

I like the idea of annual awards. I believe Tampa Yankee ran the awards on the defunct Male4Male site.

All voters should be registered on M.E.R. as of Dec. 11th. Each registered user should be allowed one vote per category & sub category. There should be one week of voting for the nominees in each category. I'd like to see 3 finalist in each category. Followed by two weeks of voting for the category winners.

We will limit it to escorts on the site. That way the software we create for the tally will be accurate and fair. This will not be done by hand but by computer and that will take away any suggestion of favoritism.

That seems like way to many categories to me and what about most versatile? I do like the idea of some sort finalists list to narrow it down to a winner(s).

Actually the whole idea is just a little silly but also sounds like FUN. My only suggestion is that the number of categories be limited. I like the idea of having open nominations then a round of voting to limit the number to three in each category and then a final round of voting to select the winner. If you need help bringing this off give a yell.

Yes. It has required the development of new software in order to take the human element out of the vote counting process. In addition the request for a run-off phase added to the development effort. That and the holidays. Presently the software is undergoing final review.

TY, just a quick note to let you know I have been impressed on several levels with this site. The fact that you are actually taking input from the contributers and incorporating doesn't go unnoticed.

Like any site, there are always bugs/issues. I have encountered a few and have been equally impressed with the feedback provided when I reported them.

Why not give a thought to the client? A few ideas below:

- A Broadest Smile Award for the client who has had the most success with escorts. Criteria for defining success will be formulated by management,

- A Can't Win For Losing Award. Self-explanatory.

Those two would arguably involve only reviewers, unless management decrees otherwise. One that could definitely be open to reviewers and also to posters on the Forums would be:

- A Miss Havisham Award for the guy whose personality would stand to benefit most from his getting laid more.

Why not utilize the same technology that is currently being used for rating the usefullness of the written review? There certainly is no "human element" involved in that...

It may be too late, but in the spirit of keeping it simple, how about (a) a round of suggested categories, then ( anyone can nominate anyone in any category suggested, then © each escort who is "voted for" appears in the final tallies for each category. Is that too simple??
