My poor Oz! Once a valued member at Inter-Continental hotels, now a member of ...um, Holiday Inn? I thought you had moved your loyalty to Marriott?

I just can't get past the 50's image of Holiday Inn...or was it the 60's?

I love Holiday Inn Express. I stayed at them last year over 100 nights. LOL

I am still with Intercon and Marriott. But, my Intercon points are now over 1 million and I have to use them sometime!

Comfort, then, is not the priority if you stay at Holiday Inn Express, or so it seems to me. Although I do like Courtyard by Marriott...

I have never had a family member live in a city with a big hotel. It is Holiday Inn Express or Residence Inn. I like both a lot!

My corporate passengers are "thrilled" to be able to stay at HI JR when they are "on the road". We travel to small towns with limited services and amenities extant. Therefore, a room that is "safe" and heated or cooled as appropriate + a buffet breakfast is much appreciated. Having it convenient to our business is a plus.

Everything is relative, eh?

I often travel to many countries but mostly Brazil.

On a recent (non Brazil) trip to Poland, I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Krakow which came highly recommended by travel agents and friends.

I am aware that many Holiday Inn hotels are not as nice as many larger chain hotels. However, there are countless exceptions to the general conception of Holiday Inn.

Conclusion:

Prejudice comes in many forms, not just in judging people.

The wording in my post modified the previous sentence wherein I stated I travel often to Brazil.

Let it be noted that I did qualify my remark on Holiday Inns by stating that I was stuck with the 60's image it had. I joined the conversation more to tease Oz than to comment on the current quality of Holiday Inns as I clearly am not up to date on that. Perhaps if I went to Brazil and stayed at the Krakow Holiday Inn I might like them better!

BTW, I did look at pix of the Holiday Inn at Krakow, Poland, and it does look really nice.

The promo for Win Big really does depend on who you are with them as you can get points based on your stays but if like last years promo, it depends on each person gets different points. I assume this may be the case. I did sign up for this promo yesterday but it requires a lot of work by Dec. 31. I'll play the game though as it gets me near 200,000 points.

As a side note, I have had several friends get 80k points by getting a Credit Card. If you use that for the 5k points, that is 16 nights in Bangkok. Who is coming?
