Kkkkk ... I think many readers will see that as a typo for Ass Wednesday. Interesting question. I thought that following Shrove Tues and the commencement of Lent, Carnaval was 'never say die' ... I believe that one year I arrived early in Lent and there was more in terms of residual festivities still going strong compared to penitents in sackcloth.
