The New York Times ran an article claiming PornHub hosts videos of underage kids having sex.

Now MasterCard and Visa are looking into it and may stop processing PornHub payments.

What will they use next? Bitcoin?

It will be interesting to see how PornHub deals with this. They are a massive money making machine and have good lawyers. But, the banks control all the power in this and one site will not be a big loss for them.

I don't get why they aren't  covered by the YouTube law which says they are not responsible for what members upload.

Wow That's big news for PornHub. Though I guess people don't really need to download videos from the service. it's streaming obviously and as long as what you are looking at is legal you can always come back to watch it again.

I like downloading videos. That is why I will pay for a service to download and have them like Cockyboys. But, others with FraternityX does not allow for downloads and thus, I won't pay.

 

What's the advantage to downloading?

I'll pirate normal films and then just delete them after I watch them but never thought about doing that with porn. Doesn't it clog up your hard drive?

No, it doesn't clog things up. I have 3TB so there is plenty of space.

I like them to view in various places and like saving ones I really like. Some I watch over and over and some just a scene here and there. I guess I just prefer to own them and not to go to online to find them somewhere.

Not mine: I store porn in the cloud and back it up in an external hard disk.

I don't store porn on any computer I own. So I'm not interested in downloading. Also, in porn, you have to be very careful of downloads. Hackers love to hide viruses in downloads. 

I don't know anyone who ever purchased anything on PornHub. I know they offer premium paid service, but I never felt like sharing my credit card info with them.

Can't say I spend a lot of time there, but I've never seen underage porn videos on PornHub. For that, all you have to do is join Tumblr. My goodness, the stuff that slips through the cracks before it gets reported.

yeah.  the viruses are one of the reasons I just stream. And yeah I've never seen anyone obviously underage. That said  you can't really know. Some 16 year olds can look 21

I hate to say it, but speak to any cyber security professional. The Russian and the Chinese underground know full well that pornography is an easy path to disrupting the lives of Americans. Bad actors love breaking into your computers, and it's not that difficult to do. Just a click away to a link. Americans are notoriously gullible. We have always been dual platform here, but even my Macs get hit now, more than once. Not that long ago, I had to delete Google and re-install on one Mac, starting everything from scratch. Lost years of research History and Preferences. The research showed that deleting the program was the only way to get rid of the virus. Pain in the ass.

PornHub is a HUGE platform. HUGE. If the authorities claim there's illegal stuff there, I don't doubt it. What surprises me is how obvious and regular it is elsewhere.

I've written about this numerous times on both boards. Truth be told, I had a fake driver's license when I was a teenager. Much easier back then. For many years, I passed as 22 long before I turned 18. I got carded, and nobody looked twice. Tall and mature looking (and acting). It just worked for me.

Looks like VISA and MASTERCARD pulled the plug. I wonder what PornHub owners think of that.

I agree.

OnlyFans has issues with privacy payments. A lot of people are interested, tempted, but they won't fork over a personal bank card to pay. Payment issues in the porn business are interesting. Removing Visa and MC from PornHub has immediate effect. I don't think PH will go the way of Tumblr, but losing these credit cards will have a serious effect on business. I would love to hear the insider chat about this.

Nothing like getting your free porn interrupted by a TV commercial you can't control. Nothing like approaching a popped load when My Pillow Guy hits the screen and slaps you in the face with his brand of UGLY. Oh, the horror. YouTube's recent shift to more commercial interruptions is enough to drive people away. Can't imagine how PornHub wraps its business model around this one.

well they already have ads at the start of certain videos. They could just have more ads at the start of more videos.

YouTube ads are now inside the video content, and they are appearing sooner and more often than normal. I've been watching David Foster/Katharine McPhee's channel. The constant ads are very annoying and there's plenty of marketplace complaints. If PornHub goes in this direction, I imagine a ton of baters' hard-ons going limp.

Regarding ads on YouTube, I've managed to avoid them by installing AdBlock Plus on Firefox browser. Works really well.

My son promotes using ad blockers. He works on a PC. If you use a lot of licensed Adobe products, have to be careful with open-sourced extensions on a Mac. Lessons learned.
