It’s nothing very gay but I’d highly recommend it. I visited the Iguazu falls yesterday for the first time. After the classic bus+walking tour, which was great, I opted for the helicopter ride, over the highly recommended Macuco safari. I just don't like the idea of getting wet in a small boat with a bunch of unknown people. 
 
I stayed at the Sanma Resort, located 5 minutes walking to the Iguazu falls visitors centre, right next door to the birds park. 
 
The helicopter centre is outside the Iguazu falls park, opposite the birds park entrance. It has a coffee shop and a gift shop attached to it. They require minimum 4 and maximum 6 passengers per chopper. It costs 635 reais per person, about 50% more than the Macuco Safari. I’d pick the chopper over the boat any time. You can have a descent coffee while waiting for the checkin. Don’t take the cappuccino. They put a horrible sweetened chocolate flavored powder in it.
 
Neither at the purchase nor at the checkin was the passport required but they did ask for its number and my weight. 
 
After the checkin, you need to watch a security video for about 3 minutes. Then you are invited to a waiting salon on the airfield side. All bags need to be stored there. 
 
The tour lasts about 10 minutes. Only one chopper was in operation. It’s actually fun to watch it taking off and landing from such a close distance. 
 
The operator has a crew to record the whole boarding process and combine it with a pre-recorded in-air scenery video. The compilation is about one minute and costs 500 reais for a digital version, or 700 reais on a usb key. You can also get a hard copy of your photo taken in front of the chopper after landing. I feel it’s absurdly expensive, comparing to the ride. 
 
I had the luck to sit right next to the pilot. The view was superb in the cockpit. It did two full rounds over the falls to made sure that everyone had the full view. The whole ride was smooth and stable.

Part 2
Anyway for my first evening in Rio I had booked Lucas Lucas.  He had several profiles and one or two reviews and he looked very professional.   I liked the fact that his profile showed him going at it with overweigh clients, not just his beautiful peers.  There was a risk from ordering him for the night in advance. OK.  So many Forum members were so kind in their empathy for my situation and generous in providing information following my initial post I thought I should repay in a very small way some of the kindness shown me by at least posting on my experiences.   None of anything in my visit reports will be new or different to the seasoned traveller to Rio.   But I give the perspective of a man nearer 70 to 60 in age. So I hope it is helpful to people facing the same predicament as me.  But it is also a warning to you younger guys.   That you don’t get any less horny with age, although you are far more likely to face prejudice because of that age and become the dirty old man, the randy grandpa, the cheeky codger, the frisky fossil or the lusty old goat.  Ageism is deeply ingrained in society in ways that other forms of discrimination, like racism or sexism, have been more actively challenged.  That’s enough of a rant.  Funnily enough I found no ageism amongst the callboys. So I am 67. So how to choose a "garota de programa" (GP) who is someone who engages in paid companionship or escort services, often involving prearranged meetings—hence the idea of a "program.".  Most of the websites available don’t allow reviews which is crucial in deciding on someone.  After all body is one thing but you want to know that they will service you well as well.  https://garotocomlocal.com.br/ allows positive reviews only.  So you can use this to work out if someone has been reviewed in the last month or so and at least you know they are still active.  I would say about half the guys with profiles on the site are just not working at any one point in time and if you Whatsapp them you won’t get any kind of acknowledgement.

Back to the websites. https://br.mileroticos.com/acompanhantes-masculinos/rio-de-janeiro-rj/  The advantage of this site is you get a few pictures. . You can filter on those who claim to be immediately available.  Generally, the lower you go down the page on these sites the lower the quoted price is.  There aren’t many on this site.  Then if you are going downmarket there is https://boytoy.com.br/.   I did establish contact with one of the boys on this site but he sent me such threatening GIFs of his swinging cock I ruled him out on safety grounds. Just for clarification purposes…
Coroa and bear / urso are not the same thing, although they can overlap in some cases.

Then, there’s “daddy”. A “coroa” can sometimes overlap with the concept of a “daddy” used in North America, but there are differences in connotation. In U.S. gay culture, a “daddy” is typically an older man who is seen as sexually desirable, often confident, nurturing, or protective. The term often carries a playful, flirtatious, or explicitly sexual or dominant undertone, often linked to a power dynamic. The coroa can but may not necessarily be viewed as a daddy — it really depends on the context and the individual’s vibe. While coroa can sometimes imply physical attractiveness (like the term “silver fox” in the USA), it doesn’t inherently carry the sexualized or dominant undertones of “daddy.”
It’s important to note (especially in the context of the original post) that. in a country like Brazil with far more (socioeconomic) class delineation between rich and poor than in the USA, Canada or Western Europe, that the coroa and the daddy are almost always the financially stable providers. I’ve been home for almost a week and feel I should note a few things I noticed on my most recent trip to Bangkok. I was in the city over the New Year period, and it was a crazy time!

Hotel
For accomodation, I stayed in Sukumvit over NY, then a few days at Pullman G, then the majority of my visit at my old favourite, The Rose. Pullman is lovely, no issues with guests. Silom Nightclubs

I checked out the new clubs in Silom. Rush was a big surprise. 3 or 4 floors, with the 3rd floor hosting an underwear party and the 2nd set up as a cruise area. Had a great time here on level 3. Lots of hot guys, almost all Asian. Some action on this floor (I was shocked about this!), but the main event was in the cruising area. I had a great time in there, playing with heaps of guys. They closed that zone around 2am, moving everyone to the ground floor before closing about an hour later.

Some recent activities:
So after my 'Andaman stint' I returned to Bangkok for new years. Arriving into Silom around 21:00 and walking down Silom Road, my first observation was that all of the gays are out and about, probably due to the fact that White Party Bangkok was on around the same time. I also saw many photos on social media of the huge queues going into places such as G.O.D. and DJ Station, it was crazy. Whilst events such as White Party are not really my scene, maybe one day I would like to go, but I feel as though I am not attractive or fit enough to attend such events (but this is my own problem to overcome).
 
Pullman Hotel Bangkok G
When planning this trip I decided that I wanted to watch the IconSiam fireworks to ring in the new year. I mentioned this in another thread, but I spent hours on google maps researching nearly every hotel on the river that would give me an optimum view of said fireworks. Lebua or Shangri-La would have been suitable particularly as they have balconies, however the cost was exorbitant and whilst I like to splash out from time to time, I just couldn't justify it. I looked at many other options including standing on the King Taksin Bridge, but I figured that the crowds would be unbearable. They do close the road near to midnight though. 
I ended up stumbling upon Pullman Bangkok Hotel G and through some further research found that if I got a room on the river side, I would be able to see the fireworks. I ended up booking an executive room with lounge access and requested to be put on the river side but they said they couldn't guarantee it and it would be subject to availability on the day. So it ended up being a bit of a gamble anyway. I was pleased that when I checked in, I was allocated a room on the 35th floor (which is the highest of the floors with hotel rooms) and on the river side. The view was spectacular.
I actually quite like this hotel and usually Crowne Plaza is my favourite in the area, but I think I like this one just as much. The issue that I had (and this is totally first world problems) is because I had lounge access, I hardly left the hotel. I had breakfast in the lounge (in which there was both a la carte and buffet options), afternoon refreshments in the lounge, and evening drinks and canapés in the lounge. All meals and drinks were pretty much provided which meant I didn't have to buy any food (apart from the night I arrived which I tried the burger restaurant, 25 Degrees, on the ground floor which was quite good, albeit a little on the pricier side). The hotel was quite busy during the few days I was there, I guess due to high season and new years.
The fireworks show in the end was quite good, I was expecting more but I think if I were closer, it would have been better, but I don't regret staying here at all.

 
Saphan Kwai stint
Some months ago a passing comment by @jason1975 prompted me to consider staying in the Saphan Kwai area for a few days. So I did exactly that.

I ended up finding a reasonably priced hotel (comfortable, but just a little small) in walking distance to all the fun places. And whilst there are some foreigners around, it is largely a local area, which to be honest, I quite liked. It's a nice change of scenery from Silom. Whilst I had every intention of visiting 3 massage places each day, my body wasn't having it. I ended up visiting just three.
Kman: I've been here twice before, same guy both times and had an excellent time. I went in without an appointment and the manager showed me his iPad in which there were quite a lot of guys to choose from. Whether they were at the premises or nearby I am not sure. Anyway, the guy who I had the last 2 times was on the lineup so I decided to choose him. He was pleasantly surprised to see me, and just days before had wished me a happy new year. I chose a 90 minute massage in a VIP room, I think it used to be 700 THB, but it is now 900 THB, however I like to have a room with a shower. Had an excellent time again with him.
Phoenix: I had high expectations of this place and whilst I had a satisfactory time, I was expecting more. It was about a 20 minute walk from my hotel and easy to find. As I entered, there were lots of guys around and I was spoken to in Thai (as seems to be a common reoccurrence on this trip), until they found out I was in fact, not Thai. There is a promotion at the moment and the massage cost 599 THB for an hour with a 1200 THB minimum tip. There was a line up of about 8 guys and I chose one that was more my type. I did ask who can top and bottom and the manager (?) said that they all are versatile. However, there are differing levels of versatile as I would soon find out.
The guy was pleasant enough, and the massage was okay, but when it came to the afters I had found that he unfortunately had some silicone implants in his dick, like this big bump on one side which made it awkwardly thick. I decided that that was not going inside me so I opted to take the top position, however he had a little trouble taking me and I absolutely don't want to force him when he is struggling. He tried his best, but we ended up just having some side fun in the end. Despite staying in the Saphan Kwai area, I made it into Silom a couple of times. Didn't off anyone, but just went for the shows.
Atlas: Whilst muscle guys aren't really my cup of tea, I like to expand my horizons every once in a while and also support this new bar. I went on a Friday night and it wasn't super full but there was enough of a crowd. There were the usual muscle guys plus a few smaller but still muscled guys, and a couple of twinks. The show was pretty standard, drag queen singing, muscle display, suck show, fuck show etc. Atlas is the only bar doing an actual fuck show (which I was happy to see) so I just wonder how they are getting away with it when the other bars are not doing it. The show numbers were pretty short which was good as some of the bars, the numbers seem to go on forever.

Dragon and Koi: I met up with forum member @Raposa and we went to this bar together, he had already been a number of times but this was my first time. I thought it was a nicely decorated bar with some creative cocktails on the menu. I had a 'Pornstar Martini' which tasted quite nice. The bar is staffed by attractive guys from Myanmar and they did a dance a little later in which their shirts came off. They were so sweaty by the end of it, it was sexy. The guys here have a reasonable command of the English language which is perfect if you want to have a chat (for me, I'm generally quiet and usually have nothing to say).
Freshboys: After Dragon and Koi, Raposa and myself went over to Freshboys and it was pumping. There was a constant flow of customers coming in and it was quite busy. So that is it for now. I am going outside of Bangkok again tomorrow and will report back when I have more to report on.

First of all: Thanks to veteran members here @vinapu, @macaroni21, @bkkmfj2648, @reader that inspire this trip to begin with. This is the first Bangkok gay-oriented trip for me ever.  I am coming back in June 2025 so will save some of the bars / onsens experience to that part of the trip. This trip is mostly focused towards gay massage experience - variety of it.  I am venturing out to off beaten paths shops - reviewed / non-reviewed shops. 
[B]First, some burning Q&A about massage shops in Bangkok that I answered during my trip[/B]
Q: How does one broadly classify gay massage experience in Bangkok?  
A: All stores involve to some degree of sexual activities. The massage shops can be broadly classified as follow: Pricing (Low to High), and Activities included (Soft only, Soft but hard could be included, or Mandated Hard)
 
Q: About pricing. Why would anyone go to high end stores (1500B+) if one can get the same pleasure from stores charging fraction of the price?
A: Facilities at higher end shop feels a lot more comfortable in terms of cleanliness, private bathroom - even a bathtub with full service included.  However, what is often not talked about here is the quality of the boys.  Boys at lower end shop is doing it for the money at whatever bare minimum.  I noticed that they are more mechanical (you can see in my review below).  Higher end shop boys seems to be enjoying their job because of their pay - much more likely to go above and beyond what is required.  They are less subject to revolving doors phenomena that the shop just hire whoever is available.  Guys at higher end shop, especially in non-freelance model, takes pride on what they do and bank of repeat business. 
 
Q: About activities. Why would anyone go to soft shop / hard optional shop if one can go to shops where hard activity is guaranteed?
A: This is the nuanced that I also had to appreciate. Hard shops which tend to have mandated higher tips - will deliver exactly that. A hard activity (either T/B).  I found that in these shops, by nature, the service do feel more mechanical.  The boys already have earned his/her tips as long as he does the activity. In a softer shop, the boys exercise discretion on what activitiy to deliver to earn his tips. I found that kissing/affection factor is higher in softer shop versus hard oriented shops. I guess you cannot win them all! 
 
Q: What is the best predictor whether the masseure will kiss ?
A: Their sexual orientation is likely the best predictor. Without fail, all the masseur who is gay will kiss a lot more willingly. A top / straight masseur will not kiss. How do you find out their sexual orientation then?  The massage review group on X disclose their orientation or sometimes the shop does too, and you may ask the shop directly when booking. 
 
Q: Negotiation during soft shop session
A: This is to be expected when stated minimum tips is 200B or some other nominal amount.  The boys can/do exercise discretion and will offer extra service. If the boy does not speak English at all, it is possible to use the translate app and be clear on what you are asking in the beginning (B2B, handjob, etc).

I always seek value for money when seeking hotels. That means i will spend more if i get huge discount at 5 stars hotel with all the perks, instead of choosing normal priced 2 star hotel with no perks, and lack of comfortable bed. My low limit has usually been the cleanliness and comfortable bed and thats usually excludes many of the lower ends hotels unless it is recommended by members here. 
Having said this, ive stayed in nantra silom, which i find below my standard mainly due to cleanliness. It could be just my luck with the room that i got though. Ive also stayed in pullman G, which i agree with the comment here that it needs a timely refurbishment. But in my case, i did get a free access to their lounge, with higher floor rooms, so money well spent. 
My all time favorite hotels for best bang for bucks has always been furama silom deluxe room, with raya grand deluxe a close second. Furama won on better and modern decor, better view, exceptional roof top pool, with bigger selection of breakfast. Raya won on location, location, location. I always compare prices between the two, and usually furama win. On high season, raya always fully booked anyway, so my decision is much easier.
Away from silom, ive stayed at Nikko hotel thonglor, Hilton Sukhumvit, Hilton Millennium, Eastin Grand Sathorn. Ive no complaint about any of these hotels so far other than their prices which is usually in the higher end of what im willing to pay. I do have a loyalty card with hilton so i usually booked them on my last day for their free late check out. 
So far, ive considered le meridien, siam kempinski, standard, W, crowne plaza new dusit thani, so/ and several more of equal or above level of luxury, above what im willing to pay for what ill get. 

Back a few years ago, I said I met the love of my life at Tawan. Well, there were many naysayers. But, here is the thread:
So, skip forward a few years, we are still together and doing great. He has been an amazing addition to this old man's later life. He keeps me busy, on my toes, and entertained. Not easy to do, but sometimes, you just know on the first meet.
The BF of over 20 years, I knew that day. And, we are still together (kinda) as he has a farm now and lives with his family but talk daily. When I call, he comes that day. When I need him, he is there. When he needs me, I'm there.
As for the love of my life, he has been a true joy. Don't let the people tell you that romance dies at a certain age or that every bar boy is the same. They are not. They are often diamonds in the rough and it takes patience, love, attention, and money.  

I'm now travelling outside of Bangkok, so here are some notes from recent times. It's been a little quiet on the guy-front whilst I've been in recovery, so not too much excitement to report on as of yet.
 
I tried out a couple of hotels (that I haven't tried before) in the general area -
BnB98 - I found this whilst perusing google maps. It's in the same small alley as Pula Silom and G.O.D nightclub, and I thought I would give it a try since it didn't look too bad and is well-located. This is a strange one though - you can book via the usual channels (booking.com/agoda) however there is no reception (there is a cafe downstairs that is run by the same people as the hotel - I think). Basically they will send you a one-time-code to open the room and inside is a door card to use for the remainder of the trip. Since there is no reception, my passport details were not taken so I am not sure how they get away with not reporting your stay to immigration (as hotels usually do). Anyhow, the prices are reasonable and there are also some cheap rooms with shared bathrooms. I was booked in for 4 nights, but I lasted 1.
My issues - the door did not have any secondary lock from the inside. Since there was no reception, the front door is always open so anyone could just go up into the building. It is so noisy - I could deal with it being so close to the BTS, I could deal with the noise of the nightclub nearby, but I couldn't deal with the man singing karaoke at 6am. The bathroom blinds also didn't fully cover the windows so it's possible someone in the building opposite may have gotten an eyeful if they were looking close enough, and there was no room safe. Some of these things I already knew from reading the reviews, but I just couldn't do it! I thought it would be good to be right up in the action, but I think I would prefer to be slightly a distance away. Or a better hotel with more amenities.
Silom Convent Garden Hotel - I actually read about this hotel in a report from Vinapu so decided to try. I ended up getting a very good deal on one of their bigger rooms whilst booking direct online, which the receptionist told me was an error on their side and I should not have gotten it for that price, but he had to honour it since I already paid for it. This place is closer to Chong Nonsi but still in walking distance to all the fun places. The place is quite dated and falling apart slightly but is still fine, and what I especially liked about my particular room type is that it had a washing machine, which was very handy. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but it was good to try somewhere on the other side. It is also right next door to Sauna Mania, and a short distance to Arena for those who are interested.
 
Massage - 
Senso - I visited here hoping to see the guy that I met in January who I had an excellent time with, but he was not to be found and the manager hadn't heard from him either (I ended up messaging him later on Line and he confirmed he wasn't working there anymore and told me where he was now working). Anyhow, as I entered, another guy entered at the same time as me, however he left shortly afterwards. Perhaps he wasn't keen on the lineup? or the price? The pricing structure is new, compared to how it was previously - a 90 minute massage will cost 3300 THB and is an all-in price that includes both the massage and the tip. I forget how much the 60 minute option cost. I asked the manager to tell me who can do both top and bottom (as I like to flip-flop) and he pointed out who was able. The line up was mostly hunks, but there was this one twink guy that I had my eye on so I ended up choosing him. I had only been to Senso twice before, once in January as already mentioned, and once last year, and I briefly wondered if the guy I chose was the same guy as last year but I couldn't quite remember, and for some reason I remember him being taller.
Anyhow, we went upstairs where I firstly had a shower and he then had a shower, and started with the massage which tbh wasn't super sensual but it was okay, and then the afters started which was pretty satisfying. We flip-flopped a few times which was lots of fun and afterwards we had a shower together where he helped me wash the massage oil off. It was at this point that I saw his tattoo of his name that I put 2 and 2 together and it was the guy that I had last year. I didn't recognise him, but in all fairness, he didn't recognise me either lol. We later confirmed when I tried to add him as a friend on Line, he was already my friend. I had a satisfying time, but the guy I had in January, I felt I 'connected' with him more. And the sex was way hotter.
 
So that's me updated for now, will write again when I have more to write about!

We haven't decided where to settle yet, it could be Thailand on an O visa later this year or stay in Penang
The MM2H visa is ridiculously expensive to retire in Malaysia so I am on a tourist visa for now, which is 90 days.
If we decide to settle in Malaysia I will be 'employed' by hubbys family so I can stay here on a work visa instead.
We are going to do a three month trip across Thailand in April next year to see if we prefer Thailand to retire to.
for now 90 day and a border hop, hence christmas in patong.

I'd say, in this or rather such case (s)  be selfish in a good sense i.e.   if you feel like giving something and it will make you to feel better without putting dent in your treasury then give him whatever you feel like  without splitting hair if story is true or racket , that you may never learn so better not too worry.
If you yield , be prepared such requests may come again , both from him and other boys he knows they know you , if any so at one point be prepared to put stop on it.
If you don't tell them what I do " I'm only giving money when we meet , in exchange for your companionship" -it seems to work.

to illustrate  what may happen here are my stories, I bought phone once and gave money 6 times to 4 boys over years :
Phone boy , asked for phone costing 12000. I saw cheaper model of the same make  at 8000. because we spent few nights together and i was very happy with him we settled
on middle 10000 model and I extracted free Long Time for that following night. No fuss and no further requests.
Boy 1, veteran of many offs, went home to Myanmar when Covid struck, asked for money I sent him twice as much  , he sent me picture of money  collected and never asked for more
Boy2, also veteran , I  met his brother on street who told me he broke his leg while skating and he show even me his picture with cast. Next day I gave envelope with my usual Long Time tip +1000 to brother at his shop, he handed money over  , I got picture of guy holding envelope opened  and thank you. Few weeks later he asked for more but I answered that I did what I could , got wai emoticon and never heard from him again. But his friend in Pattaya who knows me likely heard about  my good heart and asked for money because motorbike accident. He got an answer  highlighted above and I met him at least twice since, no further requests
Boy 3, veteran now but I saw him only once and was awe struck when covid hit and I learned from other member that boy is in financial distress stuck back home. So using member  as intermediary I sent him some donation, got confirmation of boy clutching money and voice message  ' thank you for  xxx dollars'. About two years later when things went to normal boy was sitting in soi 4 with customer and to my shock recognized me  ( we met only once by then) and came to thank me for that donation.
Ever since met him many times , meetings were from very good  to very bad but I have soft spot for him. Sensing it , he asked for a loan, promising to repay it within month, not knowing that in one month I will be there to collect money in person. Offed him and no word of repayment,   when I finally  asked  about it , he turned red and said 'no money' . To his credit he seemed surprised when I gave him full LT tip  but on another hand did not suggest he repays it in services. Loan still outstanding , I see him every trip always reminding him we have this not solved but good news is , no further requests.
BOY 4 , great illustration of my idiocy , story told in my Jan 2023 report. Met him  Phnom Penh in Oct 2022, in Jan 2023 he contacted me about going together to Bangkok as we discussed previously. Asked for some money to prepare for the trip , got it as prepayment for his services on his suggestion. Week later asked for more, I sent him half of what he wanted. He picked me up at the airport , was supposed to see me in hotel  at night but never showed up , fell silent and never heard from him again.
so bottom line of all that is : if you send money  don't expect anything  in exchange  other than possible following requests. Send money because you want to help , not because you feel pity for boy's real or fabricated plight . If you feel really sorry think that there are many more deserving people you never heard about and thus you will never help them anyways.
In a sense I'm still grateful to boy4 for teaching me that lesson and ever since   I'm only giving money when we meet , in exchange for your companionship

For the past 10 days, almost every night at Foodland, there's been two gentlemen playing chess at table 8 (in middle of restaurant) from 7plus to 8.30pm while having dinner. Sometimes, other gentlemen would join in and they would play some games against these two gentlemen.
The two gentlemen are Yours Truly here and my regular guy. I had brought the chess set from Singapore because I have recently been reacquainted with the game due to the interest in chess in Singapore. Singapore is currently hosting the World Chess Championship between Gukesh (India) and Ding Liren (China) over two weeks.
I had read in forum about a Myanmar waiter at new Dragon and Koi bar holding a degree in physics so I thought I might bring a chess set on my trip and play against this waiter. Unfortunately, I found out after meeting him that he doesn't know how to play chess.
Fortunately, my regular guy spotted my chess set in my Airbnb condo when he came over for long-time session.
"After sex we play chess?" he asked.
I said sure and we played 3 games while on the bed (after showering of course) before dozing off.
Subsequently, we met at Foodland every evening at 7.30pm for dinner and chess. The staff at Foodland were surprised at first when they saw us doing this every evening but they got used to us and even remembered my food order which was wanton soup with pork and chicken cashew nuts without rice for me. My regular guy would try a different dish but with the same drink order of watermelon juice.
At 8.30pm, he would leave to report for work at Freshboys. I then kept the chess set into my bag and wandered off into night adventures.
Eventually, I discovered some other Vietnamese guys who can play chess as well. I believe they were introduced to the game back in school in Vietnam. There's a guy in Good Boys who's pretty good. Then, there are two other guys in Freshboys who can play. None of them is as good as my regular guy. He has beaten me several times. After 7 years of knowing him, we only discover our shared interest now. Better late than never!

I agree with reasoning of what all three of you expressed above,  but considering,  at end of day,  transactional  nature of our dealings with boys I sympathise with jason's reasoning more and I do the same.
We are not there to raise boy's status in the bar although it's nice if that happens as additional  result our our actions. We are there  to raise boys earnings in exchange for what they do (or don't do) for us.
Raising boys status by buying drinks to him and his 4 friends may be nice but is costs 2500 , out of that boys get 500 and bar 2000. That is not good use of our money , either hard earned or stolen from bank IMNSHO. 
Buying 1000 garland out of which boy gets 700 is show off and helps to rise his status but again it's not good use  or our money IMEMNSHO.
I get value of status and jai dee in boys eyes but when comes to money  I prefer to be paternalistic and I rather see boy, not bar ,  getting cash from me . Then he can do whatever he wants to raise his status.
Of course other members may look at it differently so hope Raposa  is not taking my comment as uninvited criticism for him buying garland at Moonlight but it that was me I would perform patented vinapu tuck on boy stuffing  1000 baht note in his undies in a way that all could see denomination sticking out. 
It reminds me scene from last trip in one of bars I visited with other member. He paid for our drinks and got 100 baht change , most  in coins. Shrewd move by the bar because of course he left them all that change - he did not want all that metal. As reward he got scolded by me and I'm not being apologetic here .
I told him such lavish tips should be awarded to boys who are parading in skimpy briefs for our enjoyment, not to waiter for just a bringing a drink or two for which 20 baht is sufficient IMNSHO  considering we tip 100 boy whose cock we can feel in our hand when they are parading after the show     
 

Let's make one thing clear: I'm not trying to romanticize anything. I'm trying to tell things as it is. I don't even let myself be dragged into pretty pointless (to me) arguments, such as "what is real love" or "Transaction-based relationships are not real" blah blah. I never deny that money is important in JC "love stories". Please, those working boys come from poor family, of course, money always matters! To many of them, money is not just a means to achieve goals, money is the goal itself.

Ask yourself this: why the boy chose me among paying fellow customers? Because of my good look? my personality? the way I care? I give him more money? Or because nobody else was interested? Or a little bit of everything?

Whatever the reason, you obviously have something to offer that others don't, at least, at that moment in time and place. So what if you entice the boy, first and foremost, with your money? At least, you have money. And later on, if he finds out about your other endearing qualities and grows more attached to you, doesn't it make it even better?

I once half-jokingly asked J. what else, apart from my money, made he fall in love with me. His answer is brief and, as clichéd as it may sound, still moves me "because of what I feel when I'm with you."

About two months ago (we were in a hotel in Vientiane at the time), in the middle of the night, J. suddenly turned to me and hugged me so tight, his whole body shaking, he woke me up (he was never a clingy type when he sleeps). Then he stopped and I went back to sleep. The next morning, I asked him about what happened. "I had a terrifying nightmare. I loved the part where you mention that you keep meeting Laos guys and no Thai guys.  I find this ironic, because recently the Thai government decided to raid some of the bars where one of the justifications was that the raid would protect the jobs that were raided for the Thais.  But, as you saw, there were hardly any Thais to do said work.  So, it Thailand wants to continue to have a vibrant tourist industry they should embrace the guys who are willing to come from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia to do the work that fewer and fewer Thais want to do.
 

Relax.  There is always an emerging "new" panic around Colombia travel. You wouldn't believe the "expert" opinions shared with me when I first traveled to the country and fell in love with Medallo. Perhaps because Narcos on Netflix was popular at the time? 
Medellín as a whole is less dangerous that most similarly sized cities in North America. The barrios where there are higher rates of violent crimes are ones you are highly unlikely to visit during your first trip.  Skipping this city will leave a big to-do on your travel list. 
Don't let a few negative stories detract you from visiting the city. There is much to see and do, and the paisas are certain to charm the pants off of you. Literally.

I just got back from Medellín on Saturday from an eight-day trip.  It was my first time in Colombia.  I had an amazing trip and never felt unsafe.  I will admit that I planned a trip back in April, but then canceled because I read too many Facebook sorry stories about crime.  Obviously it's terrible whenever something bad happens to anyone.  Like others have noted, common sense and trusting your instincts will go a long way.  I don't drink, use other chemicals, and I don't party.  I wore an Apple Watch and used my phone occasionally on the street, but I wasn't obnoxious about it. 
I met up with many guys, mostly from Grindr and mileroticos.  They were all very attractive and I had a great time.  I did my best to vet them, and make sure they had social media, twitter, an onlyfans, etc.  My sense is that many were interested in ongoing financial support, either directly or through through their websites.  To be blunt, if they kill you they might get what's in your wallet that day, but nothing in the future.
I think the best advice I can give you is to spend time with the local guys, and they will look out for you.  The local job market is really tough and there are many guys on Grindr who are unemployed and bored.  I was very interested in seeing the sites around town, like Comuna 13, museums, Pueblito Paisa, parks, and Guatepe.  I met up with two guys in particular and offered to buy them lunch and pay for travel expenses.  Both were happy to take me around town and were very proud of their city and its culture.  One even took me up to Mirador Picacho in the evening to see some breathtaking views of the city at night.  I was a bit apprehensive but it was worth it.  The trip to Guatepe was also worth the two hour Uber drive!
I'm already planning my next trip back.  There are many more things I want to see and guys I just didn't have time to meet up with!

Brief update on T. and the Dutch customer, the story that started this thread (as usual, my threads never have a clear focus and I just put down whatever takes my fancy at the moment).

It looks like they are going steady. The customer stops by every day without fail, only sits with T., sometimes for a very long time (the other day, he arrived at 7pm and was still there at 11pm, when I left). There is only one off so far, but the customer will stay here for two more weeks, so WE AT THE BAR all hope for something more substantial out of it. J. stopped T. every time we ran into him to get an update. Yes, we care that much, especially when it comes to a chance for a long-term relationship.

Speaking of long-term relationships, last night I sat with V., currently the oldest boy in the bar (34). He currently dates a farang boyfriend, an American expat, who gives him a generous monthly allowance of 30K Baht and still allows him to work in the bar. "I can sit and go drinking with customers, but no sex. That's his condition. He said if he ever found out that I cheated, he will end our association immediately."
V. already bought a house in his hometown, a few hours away by bus from Pattaya. 16K monthly down payment would come from the aforesaid allowance. He's also been trying to save, earmarked for opening a coffee house in his hometown. "That is one reason my boyfriend allows me to continue to work here. He wants me to do the saving myself." V. told me.

"When I reach my target of 200K, I will stop working in the bar and move back home."

"But what about your boyfriend? He lives here in Pattaya, right?"

"Oh, he will move and live with me in my house. That's our plan for a future together."

According to V., the said boyfriend actually sat in the bar and observed him at work for some time before finally approaching him. Their relationship is still fresh and they do it step by step, At the moment, V.'s been staying with him 3 days a week, aiming for living with each other full-time down the line.

"It seems you guys got it all figured out. Your boyfriend is so thoughtful. You have a good thing going for you. I think you should avoid doing anything that may jeopardize the relationship. Work harder, take good care of him, keep him staying in love with you. Don't risk it just for some quick buck."

"I know. He said he loves me and wants to be with me for a long time. If he keeps his part of promise, I won't cheat. "

"Do you love him?" I asked.
"Actually, at the moment, I only like him." V. was honest with his answer. "But my feeling for him is growing. I want to be with him every day."

When asked about his previous relationships, V. said he was in love with a German guy a while ago. "When he decided to leave Thailand and move back home, I had cried for days because I know I would never see him again. I still miss him sometimes."
"Suppose the German guy comes back to Pattaya right at this moment, what would you do if you have to choose?"

It didn't take long for him to come up with an answer.

You want me to wait for you or is it okay I sit with him first?"   Of course, I want J. to wait for me, but I also want him to make more money with drinks so told him it's ok to sit with the customer, I could wait until he's free.   What a wait it was. The customer, an Asian one and quite young this time, sat with J. for nearly 3 hours through a bunch of drinks, probably trying to get him to agree to a hotel visit. After nearly 2 hours, I got impatient and messaged J, saying if the customer wants to off him, he can go but let me know so that I don't waste my time waiting. "NOOO, I want to go with you" came back the instant answer. Then, I decided to watch the show in M2M bar to kill time. About 45 minutes into the show, I got J.'s message "Come, quick, before I have another customer".   It feels like a who-gets-to-the-bar-boy-first competition. I quickly paid the bill, left the show midway, and walked briskly back to the bar. J. literally ran from inside to meet me at the entrance with his stuff. That trip, the only boy I offed is J. and the rest is history.   PS. Last night, on our way back to my hotel situated right in JC, J. ran into a customer, who sat with him a few times in the bar. "Where are you going?" The customer asked on passing by. "To hotel" J. flashed his irresistible smile, pointing at me. The customer stopped mid-stride, turned and did a double take.
