December 21, 20205 yr Active Members Never was without dogs in childhood. Never could keep a plant alive once I moved to NYC. Pets are very difficult in a life filled with travel. Without my housekeeper, who has been part of my NY family since 1981, I doubt anything in my life could survive. As strong as my fondness for dogs is, it seems I've developed dander allergies in my older age. So my dream of owning a beautiful Irish Setter and an ivory Labrador will never be. I also never felt quite comfortable keeping a dog in a NYC apartment. The family home was on three acres, so anything less seems cruel.
December 22, 20205 yr Active Members My boy went to the other side of the mountain last year. Miss him. I've thought about getting another dog, especially now, but I've worked pretty much continually through the pandemic, so I don't offer the companionship a lot of other people are experiencing right now.
